Behind the Stone Gate, the Mystery of the Gem
Lin Yu and Suna, filled with a mixture of nervous anticipation, slowly stepped through the mysteriously radiant stone door. Suddenly, a dazzling light surged toward them like a surging tide. The intensity of the light was so intense that they instinctively closed their eyes, as if they were being pierced by the blazing sun. They shielded their eyes with their hands, and after a moment, they gradually adjusted to the sudden intensity. When the light faded slightly, they slowly opened their eyes. The sight before them made them gasp and were deeply shocked.
What greeted them was a vast, empty circular space, a secluded, mysterious world. The surrounding walls were crafted from a strange, transparent crystal. Like spirits slumbering for millennia, these crystals emanated a soft, hazy light, illuminating the entire space with a dreamlike, almost fairyland-like quality. However, this seemingly beautiful scene was tinged with an indescribable mystery and eerieness. In the very center of the space stood a massive stone platform, constructed from black rock. Its surface was as smooth as a mirror, yet it exuded an ancient, weighty aura. On the platform rested a multicolored gem—the very one they had so painstakingly sought. The gem's light, like a thin, cicada-wing veil, gently enveloped the platform, cloaking it in a veil of mystery and holiness. Its beauty was breathtaking, yet it also inspired awe.
"Finally, I found a gem!" Suna's voice trembled with excitement, tears of excitement and joy gleaming in her eyes. After countless hardships and dangers, and several brushes with death in this eerie and terrifying secret passage, the sight of the gem instantly melted away all the fatigue, pain, and deepest fear.
Lin Yu couldn't hide his excitement either, his lips curling up slightly in a relieved smile. But his years of adventuring experience had made him as sharp as a falcon, keeping him alert at all times. "Don't get too excited just yet. It's so quiet here, unnaturally quiet, with an indescribable eeriness, like the calm before a storm. Let's get closer and take a look, but be careful," Lin Yu said, gripping the sword tightly, his knuckles turning slightly white from the force, as if the sword was his only hope in this unknown world. He approached the stone platform cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution, his eyes warily scanning his surroundings, not missing a single subtle movement.
As they approached the stone platform, strange, blurry images suddenly emerged from the previously tranquil crystal walls, as if awakened by invisible hands. Gradually, the image crystallized into an ancient wizard clad in ornate robes. His robes were embroidered with mysterious runes, shimmering with an eerie light in the dim light. The wizard's gaze was deep and mysterious, like a deep black hole, seemingly piercing their very souls and chilling them to the bone. He held a gem identical to the one on the stone platform and muttered something in a deep, raspy voice that seemed to emanate from another time and space, reverberating throughout the space with a chilling effect. As he chanted, the gem's light intensified, warping the surrounding space. Ripples began to form on the previously smooth crystal walls, as if the entire world was crumbling under the influence of this mysterious power.
"What's going on? What is this wizard doing?" Suna nervously grabbed the corner of Lin Yu's clothes, her eyes fixed on the image on the wall, her voice trembling slightly with fear. Her heartbeat accelerated rapidly, as if it was about to burst through her chest.
Lin Yu frowned, his facial muscles tense, as he struggled to grasp the meaning behind this bizarre sight. "Perhaps it's revealing the gem's secrets, or perhaps warning us of impending danger. Regardless, we must be cautious," he said, feeling a subtle unease, as if invisible eyes were watching their every move from the darkness.
At that moment, the wizard in the image suddenly turned his gaze towards them, a gaze that seemed to penetrate the wall, meeting their gaze directly. The wizard spoke, "Outsiders, your finding this place is truly remarkable. But this gem cannot be easily taken. It is enchanted with a powerful magic seal. To break it, you must answer one of my questions. If you answer incorrectly, the consequences will be your own." The wizard's voice was cold and commanding, like millennia-old ice, chilling to the bone.
Lin Yu and Suna exchanged a glance, seeing resolve and determination in each other's eyes. They knew, having come this far, there was no turning back. "Alright, we accept the challenge," Lin Yu shouted, his voice firm and powerful, attempting to mask the tension deep within.
The wizard's image smiled, an elusive smile that seemed to conceal an endless conspiracy. "In an ancient town, there are two streets. On one street, people always tell the truth, while on the other, people always lie. When you meet someone, you can only ask one question: How do you know which street is the truthful one?"
Lin Yu and Suna fell silent. This seemingly simple question was like a complex maze, teeming with hidden secrets. Lin Yu felt his mind racing, a whirlwind of possibilities flashing through his mind. "If I simply ask which street is telling the truth, everyone on either side will likely give the same answer, making it impossible to tell. Which angle should I approach?" Lin Yu pondered, his brow furrowed as beads of sweat began to form on his forehead.
Suna was also thinking nervously, her eyes revealing concentration and persistence, and she murmured to herself: "There must be a way to judge through a question. The key lies in how to design the question, but how should I ask it?" She felt as if she was in a dark abyss, searching for a faint light in the endless fog.
