Chapter 274: Misty Forest, Mysterious Guidance

Misty forest, mysterious guidance

Lin Yu and Suna supported each other as they trudged slowly and arduously through the secret passage. Their wounds had been bandaged with simple bandages they had brought with them, but with each step, the piercing pain from their wounds felt like a sharp needle piercing deep into their bodies, causing them to wince slightly. However, their unwavering determination to find the remaining gems was like a beacon in the darkness, sustaining them as they moved forward step by step.

After an indeterminate amount of time, the light ahead of them gradually brightened. The narrow passage suddenly opened up, and a misty forest suddenly appeared before them. The fog was so thick it seemed to materialize, spreading freely through the trees like a white ocean, completely enveloping them and obscuring their vision to a distance of only a few meters. The forest was eerily silent, devoid of the usual chirping of insects and birds. It was as if all life had vanished in the mist, leaving only the rustling of their feet on the thick fallen leaves. This almost eerie silence was remarkably clear, as if every sound prickled their taut nerves.

"There's something strange about this forest. We have to be extra careful," Lin Yu said in a low voice, muffled by the mist. He shifted his gaze warily, observing his surroundings cautiously. He gripped his sword tightly, his knuckles turning slightly white from the force, ready to deal with any danger that might strike from any direction.

Suna nodded vigorously and replied softly, "Yeah, it feels like there are pairs of eyes staring at us from the dark. It's a creepy feeling." Her voice trembled slightly, and then she quickly summoned several poisonous insects and had them explore the surroundings. The faint buzzing sound of the poisonous insects was particularly abrupt in the dead forest, like a discordant note that broke the silence and added a bit of eerie atmosphere.

They stepped cautiously into the forest. The fallen leaves beneath their feet were so thick and soft that every step felt like falling into a vast trap, as if they would be swallowed up at any moment by this seemingly gentle sea of fallen leaves. Suddenly, a chill breeze blew without warning, like an icy hand gently brushing their cheeks. Mist began to roll violently in the wind, like boiling white waves. The surrounding trees seemed to be imbued with life in the wind, swaying gently and making a creaking sound, as if the ancient trees were whispering unknown secrets.

"Lin Yu, look over there!" Suna suddenly pointed nervously, her voice rising slightly with excitement. A vague figure appeared through the mist. It seemed to be a woman in a white robe, slender and ethereal, her robes fluttering gently in the mist, as if she belonged outside this world. Her figure loomed, as if it could be swallowed by the mist at any moment and vanish without a trace.

Lin Yu looked in the direction Su Na pointed, his heart suddenly alert, an instinctive sense of crisis washing over him. "Don't act rashly. Let's see what she's going to do. This place is so strange, her appearance might hold a hidden agenda." Lin Yu stared closely at the blurry figure, his eyes revealing caution and vigilance.

The woman in white slowly raised her hand. Her movements were gentle and slow, like an invisible thread dancing in the air. She waved her hand gently toward Lin Yu and Suna, as if beckoning them. Then, she slowly turned and walked deeper into the forest. With each step, her figure faded a little in the mist, as if urging them to follow, or deliberately luring them into the unknown abyss.

"She seems to be guiding us," Suna said, a hint of doubt and hesitation in her eyes. She was unsure of this mysterious woman's intentions, whether it was a well-intentioned guide or a malicious trap. Everything was full of unknowns.

"Perhaps this is a trap, but it could also be the key to finding the gem. Let's follow and see, but we must remain extremely vigilant and not let our guard down." Lin Yu said, looking at Suna with a determined look before chasing after the woman in white with her. Their steps were light and cautious, each one akin to a heartbeat, a wave of nervousness spreading through them.

As they ventured deeper into the forest, the fog thickened, like a white wall enveloping them. The figure of the woman in white grew increasingly blurred, gradually merging into the mist. Suddenly, without warning, she vanished into the fog, as if she had never appeared. Lin Yu and Suna hurriedly stopped and looked around, searching for the white figure in the mist. However, all they saw was endless fog and gloomy trees; there was no trace of her.

"Where's she? How did she suddenly disappear?" Suna asked anxiously, a hint of panic in her voice. In this strange and eerie forest, the sudden disappearance of the mysterious woman made her feel uneasy, as if she was gradually falling into an inescapable predicament.

At that moment, the surrounding mist, as if stirred by an invisible hand, spun rapidly, forming a massive vortex. The mist within the vortex whirled rapidly, making a whirring sound like the roar of a demon. Lin Yu and Suna were drawn to this powerful and eerie force, involuntarily moving toward its center. They tried to resist, stomping their feet hard on the ground and clinging to the surrounding trees, but the force was too strong, and they could only watch helplessly as they were swept into it.

As they approached the center of the vortex, the mist suddenly dissipated as if cut by a sharp blade. An ancient stone tablet appeared before them, towering and mottled, its surface covered in strange runes and patterns. These runes and patterns emanated a mysterious glow, sometimes bright and sometimes dim, as if telling of an unknown history, sealed away by the dust of time. The runes were twisted and complex, as if written in a language beyond human comprehension. The patterns were bizarre and varied, depicting strange creatures, mysterious symbols, and indecipherable geometric shapes.
