Chapter 278: Breaking the Curse, Obtaining the Treasure, and New Dangers Arrive

The curse is broken and the treasure is obtained, but new dangers arise

Trapped within the mysterious power of the stele, Lin Yu and Suna's minds raced like a whirlwind, grappling with the woman's riddle. Lin Yu's brows knitted together, a frown so tight it could pinch a fly to death. He mentally reconciled the complex logic between the statements of A, B, and C. He pondered, "If A is telling the truth, then B is lying. But if B is lying, then logically, C must be telling the truth. However, C claims that both A and B are lying, creating a clear contradiction. Therefore, A cannot be telling the truth."

Suna was also so nervous that her forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat. She muttered softly to herself, trying to organize her thoughts through words: "If B is telling the truth, then C is lying. Since C's statement that A and B are both lying is false, it means that at least one of A and B is telling the truth. In this way, it is completely consistent with the assumption that B is telling the truth." Her eyes suddenly lit up, as if she had caught a ray of crucial light in the darkness.

Lin Yu also thought of this at the same time, and the two blurted out almost at the same time: "B is telling the truth!" Their voices trembled slightly due to nervousness and anticipation, echoing in the silent and slightly eerie ruins.

The woman on the stone tablet, expressionless at first, was taken aback by the answer, then smiled softly. The sorrow in her smile seemed to fade a little, as if a thousand years of sorrow had been relieved by this simple answer. "Correct answer, the curse is lifted." As her cold voice fell, the invisible force that bound Lin Yu and Suna disappeared like the receding tide.

Lin Yu and Suna were stunned at first, then overjoyed. They stretched their bodies, stiffened from their long restraints, and their gazes fixed on the gem atop the stone tablet. Lin Yu took a deep breath and cautiously extended his hand, as if touching a priceless treasure. The moment his fingers touched the gem, a warm and gentle force flowed through his arm like a gurgling stream, resonating with his blood. "Finally, another gem," Lin Yu said, a pleased smile spreading across his tired face, a smile mingled with the relief and joy of enduring so much hardship.

However, this joy was short-lived. Before they could savor it, a deafening roar erupted from the ruins, and the ground began to shake violently, as if the world were about to collapse. Debris from the ceiling rained down, hitting the ground with a resounding thud. "Oh no! It looks like some other mechanism has been triggered," Suna cried anxiously, her voice shrill with fear, piercing the cacophony.

Lin Yu reacted quickly, grabbing Su Na's hand. His hand was slightly sweaty from nervousness, but his determination was unwavering. "Let's get out of here first!" he shouted, his voice still firm and powerful despite the tremors. Like two frightened rabbits, the two of them sprinted towards the ruins. The surrounding buildings were crumbling from the tremors, and stones kept falling from the walls, crashing down around them and kicking up clouds of dust. They dodged left and right, each evasion fraught with danger, as if they were brushing against death.

Just as they were about to reach the ruins' exit, a massive crack suddenly appeared ahead, as if the earth had been torn open. From the crack erupted a raging flame, raging like a demon's roar, instantly blocking their path. The flames were incredibly hot, and the heat surged like a surging wave, making it feel like being in a furnace, unable to get any closer.

"What should I do?" Suna stared at the raging flames, her eyes filled with anxiety and fear. Her heartbeat accelerated rapidly, as if it was about to burst through her chest. Her mind went blank in the extreme tension, and for a moment she couldn't think of any solution.

Lin Yu quickly looked around, trying to find another way out. However, the surrounding passages were tightly blocked by fallen rocks, as if fate had deliberately forced them into a desperate situation. "It seems that we can only find a way to get through this fire." Lin Yu said through gritted teeth, his eyes revealing determination, but he also knew in his heart that this was an extremely dangerous challenge. If they were not careful, they would be engulfed by the flames.

At that moment, Lin Yu noticed several massive stone pillars nearby, each etched with strange patterns. The patterns, with their twisted lines and strange shapes, resembled an ancient, mysterious language. He hurried forward to examine them more closely, discovering that they appeared to be instructions for an ancient mechanical device. "Perhaps we can use these stone pillars and the mechanical device to extinguish the flames," Lin Yu said, a glimmer of hope in his voice, however slim it seemed.

Suna hurried over, her eyes fixed on the patterns on the stone pillars, trying to decipher them. "These patterns seem to be telling us to push the stone pillars in a specific order," she said, a hint of uncertainty in her tone, but this was their only hope at the moment.

The two immediately began studying the patterns on the stone pillars, trying to find the correct order. Lin Yu discovered that the pattern on one of the stone pillars seemed to be the starting point. It looked like an eye, as if gazing at them, guiding them in the right direction. He took a deep breath and pushed the stone pillar with all his strength. The stone pillar moved slowly under his push, making a dull sound. Then, the pattern on another stone pillar changed. The originally blurred lines became clearer, like a winding snake, as if hinting at the next direction.

"That's it, just follow the order in which the pattern changes." Lin Yu said excitedly, as if he had found a ray of light in the darkness.

Following the instructions of the pattern, they pushed the stone pillars one by one. As the stone pillars moved, flames in the cracks began to flicker, as if influenced by some mysterious force. However, just when they thought the flames were about to die out, they suddenly became more intense. A powerful heat wave, carrying the flames, rushed towards them fiercely, as if to devour them completely.
