Chapter 280: Temporary refuge in the cave, clues emerge

Taking refuge in the cave, clues begin to emerge

Lin Yu and Suna fled through the forest like two frightened birds, only to be sure they could no longer hear the footsteps of the men in black chasing them. Only then did they stumble to a halt, their strength drained from them. By then, they were both panting with exhaustion, their chests heaving violently, their legs feeling as heavy as lead, barely able to lift them. Looking around, the sky, like a piece of silk gradually stained with ink, was slowly darkening. The dense forest, shrouded in the twilight, was shrouded in shadows, and every shadow seemed to conceal countless unknown dangers, like a monster with bared fangs and claws, ready to pounce on them at any moment.

"We need to find a place to rest. It's getting dark soon, and it's too dangerous to move around in the forest at night," Lin Yu said, his voice hoarse from exhaustion, like sandpaper rubbing against the ground. His eyes revealed a hint of tired vigilance, knowing that in this dangerous forest, night is undoubtedly a magnifier of danger.

Suna nodded vigorously in agreement, her eyes full of worry, as if covered by a layer of haze: "But, where is there a safe place around here? Danger may be hidden everywhere." Her voice trembled slightly, and she seemed particularly helpless in this silent forest.

The two men dragged their heavy feet, searching the area carefully. Finally, not far away, they found a cave half-hidden by vines and weeds. The entrance was entangled in layers of vines, as if it were a secret barrier set up by nature. If you don't look closely, it's hard to tell that there is a cave hidden behind it. Lin Yu reached out carefully and slowly parted the tangled vines. The small thorns on the vines scratched his palm, leaving tiny blood marks. He peeked into the cave. It was pitch black inside, silent as a place of death. Without a sound, it seemed as if countless eyes were watching them from the darkness.

Lin Yu drew his sword, its blade gleaming with a cool, cold light, standing out in the dimness. He took a deep breath and slowly walked into the cave, carefully taking each step, his ears straining to catch even the slightest sound. Su Na followed closely behind him, her hands unconsciously clutching the corner of Lin Yu's clothes, as if that would give her a sense of security.

After entering the cave, Lin Yu pulled a tinder from his pocket and flicked it gently, igniting a faint flame. He used it to ignite a small pile of dry firewood that had been gathered in the corner of the cave at some unknown time. With a crackling sound, the firewood burst into flames, and the faint flames instantly illuminated a corner of the cave, casting flickering shadows on the walls, as if countless ghosts were dancing. The cave was not large, and the walls were uneven and pitted, as if shaped by the giant hand of time, covered with strange patterns. These patterns resembled mysterious words and ancient totems, as if telling of a forgotten history.

"I hope I can be safe here for a while," Suna said, leaning wearily against the cave wall, a longing for peace in her voice. The coolness of the stone wall penetrated her clothes, causing her to shiver slightly, but her exhaustion overcame any discomfort at the moment.

Lin Yu looked at Su Na's exhausted expression, his heart filled with distress. He silently walked to the cave entrance, bent down, and laboriously moved several large rocks, partially blocking the entrance, leaving only a small gap for breathing and observing the outside world. Each rock was incredibly heavy, and his arm muscles bulged with the effort. Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead, but his eyes remained fixed firmly on the cave entrance, as if it were the last line of defense protecting their safety.

"Rest for a while, I'll keep watch," Lin Yu said, his eyes fixed firmly on the cave entrance, like a loyal guard guarding his territory. Although his body was already exhausted and his legs were trembling slightly, he knew that in this dangerous environment, he had to remain vigilant at all times and use his body to protect Suna from the wind and rain.

Su Na looked at Lin Yu with some worry, her eyes full of concern: "You are tired too, let's take turns to keep watch. Your body won't be able to bear it if you keep going like this." She knew that Lin Yu had tried his best to protect herself, and she couldn't bear to let him bear the fatigue alone.

Lin Yu smiled, the smile seemed a little pale in the light of the fire, but it was extremely warm: "I'm fine, you rest first, I'm in good spirits. You can sleep well, I'm here, nothing will happen." In fact, his body was exhausted to the extreme, every inch of his muscles was sore, but he was more worried about Suna's safety. In this dangerous place, he hoped that Suna could get enough rest.

Suna couldn't persuade Lin Yu, so she had to close her eyes and rest. She leaned against the stone wall, slowly adjusting her breathing, trying to relax her tired body. Lin Yu sat at the entrance of the cave, his back against the cold stone wall, his eyes never leaving the crack of the cave entrance. His thoughts drifted away involuntarily, and the cold faces and fierce eyes of those men in black kept appearing in his mind. Who are they? Why are they so obsessed with gems that they are even willing to hunt them down at all costs? And the various dangers encountered before, each time seemed like stepping into a carefully laid trap, as if hinting that there is a huge and mysterious secret hidden behind these gems. This secret is like an invisible vortex, dragging them deeper and deeper.

As Lin Yu was lost in thought, his gaze stumbled across the cave wall. In the firelight, the texture on the wall seemed to undergo a miraculous transformation. Those previously chaotic lines now formed a faint pattern. Startled, he quickly leaned in for a closer look. Within the pattern, he could discern the faint outline of an ancient castle, its outline appearing and disappearing in the shifting light and shadow, like a dream city suspended between fantasy and reality. Surrounding the castle were strange symbols, twisted and mysterious, like words from another time and space, exuding a mysterious and ancient aura.
