Break the box to find the secret, and the hidden crisis
Lin Yu and Suna stared intently at the runes on the box. They seemed to come alive, shimmering with an eerie, mysterious light, as if telling them ancient, obscure secrets. Lin Yu's mind raced like gears, frantically searching every corner of his memory, trying to find clues from past experiences to decipher the runes' sequence. He had a vague feeling that the runes, seemingly chaotic and disorganized, held a hidden meaning. Perhaps they were arranged according to some ancient and mysterious star patterns, or perhaps they were inextricably linked to the symbols they had seen in the ruins and caves.
Suna, intently observing the shapes and colors of the runes, her keen gaze seemingly able to penetrate their surface, exploring the mysteries hidden deep within. She discovered that the light of some runes varied unevenly, some as bright as stars, others as dim as the moon. This subtle difference might hold the key to solving the mystery. "Lin Yu, look at these runes. They glow brighter. Perhaps they hold the key. We need to touch them first," Suna whispered softly, her voice trembling with nervousness and anticipation, her eyes filled with a thirst for discovery.
Lin Yu followed the direction of Suna's finger, his gaze lingering on the bright runes for a moment before he fell into deep thought. After a moment, he spoke slowly, a hint of uncertainty in his tone: "It's possible, but we can't be sure. We must be cautious. If we make a mistake, the consequences will be disastrous." He knew that this opportunity was a matter of life and death, and there was no room for carelessness. Every judgment must be accurate, otherwise they would be doomed.
The two continued to rack their brains over the runes, time slipping away in the tense, oppressive atmosphere, each second stretching out. Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck Lin Yu, a flash of memory flashing through his mind. He recalled a mural he had seen in the ruins, the patterns on it bearing a subtle, inexplicable connection to the runes. He strained to recall every detail of the mural, attempting to match them one by one with the runes before him. The lines and symbols on the mural seemed to come alive, dancing and combining in his mind.
"Suna, I seem to have some clues. The order of the patterns on the murals in the ruins may help us solve this mystery. But I still need some time to confirm." Lin Yu said, his forehead already covered with fine beads of sweat, flickering faintly in the dim light.
Su Na looked at Lin Yu, her eyes full of trust and encouragement: "Okay, I believe you, you take your time to think about it. I will also see if there are any other clues." She knew very well that Lin Yu was under tremendous pressure at the moment, and all she could do was give him full trust and support.
Lin Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm his pounding heart and focus his attention on recalling the mural. He closed his eyes, as if he were back in the ruins, the mural vividly unfolding before him. After a moment, he suddenly opened his eyes, a glint of determination in them. "I've thought it through. According to my theory, I should touch these three runes first, then these two..." He carefully and meticulously outlined his proposed sequence, each word seeming to exhaust all his strength.
Suna nodded slightly, with a hint of expectation in her eyes: "It sounds reasonable, let's try it as you say. We can do it." Although her voice was soft, it was full of unquestionable firmness.
Lin Yu slowly extended his hand, trembling slightly with nervousness. He gently touched the runes in the order he had deduced. When his finger touched the first rune, it emitted a faint, soft glow, as if responding to his touch. Then, the runes he touched in sequence lit up one by one, and the entire box was shrouded in a mysterious, soft light, as if entering a dream world. Lin Yu and Suna stared at the box nervously, their hearts pounding as if they were about to burst out of their throats, each heartbeat beating like the drum of fate.
However, when Lin Yu touched the penultimate rune, it suddenly flickered violently several times, its light becoming extremely unstable, sometimes bright as day, sometimes dim as night. Lin Yu was startled. Had his guess been wrong? A chill instantly surged from the soles of his feet to his heart. Beads of sweat streamed down his cheeks like beans as he nervously awaited the final result. At this moment, time seemed to freeze, and the air seemed to grow thick and suffocating.
Just as Lin Yu was on the verge of despair, the runes' glow gradually stabilized and continued to illuminate in sequence. Lin Yu and Suna both breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at each other, their smiles mingled with the relief and joy of having survived a catastrophe. As the last rune was touched, the box emitted a crisp, long-lasting sound, as if announcing the solution of the mystery. The box slowly opened, and a faint light emanated from within, illuminating a small area around it.
Inside the box lay a key. Its shape was simple and unique, and it was engraved with strange and intricate patterns, as if telling of an unknown history. The key also emitted a faint glow, soft and warm, forming a sharp contrast with the gloomy surroundings. The black-robed figure looked at them and nodded slightly, as if acknowledging their wisdom. "You have passed the test. This key can open the door to the castle basement, which contains clues to the gem."
Lin Yu carefully picked up the key and, along with Suna, followed the black-robed figure to the basement. A pungent, damp smell permeated the air, like the lingering smell of decay. Several oil lamps hung on the walls, their flames flickering faintly, casting a dim, flickering light that cast a shadowy veil over the basement. Every corner seemed to harbor unknown dangers. In the center of the basement lay a massive sarcophagus, carved from a single block of stone and covered in runes and patterns. These runes and patterns seemed to come alive, looming in the dim light and emitting a mysterious and powerful aura.
