Chapter 287: Deep in the Valley, Dangers Lurk Everywhere

Deep in the valley, dangers lurk

After Lin Yu and Suna learned the clue to the Heart of the Valley, they exchanged a resolute glance and, without further delay, immediately prepared to head deeper into the valley to search. The mysterious figure in the lead, though still skeptical, saw the burning determination in the two men's eyes and hesitated to stop them. He simply warned them gravely, "The depths of the valley are fraught with danger. Not only are they filled with traps and mechanisms, but they are also home to ferocious beasts, transformed by the influence of evil. Those beasts are not as simple as those you've encountered before. They are immensely powerful and ferocious. You must be extremely careful." The mysterious figure's voice echoed through the cave, carrying a heavy warning.

Lin Yu nodded seriously in thanks: "Thank you for the reminder, we will be careful. But in order to stop the evil forces and to protect the peace of the world, we must go this time." Su Na also held Lin Yu's hand tightly. Her palms were slightly sweaty, but she conveyed an unshakable strength, and her eyes revealed a determination to face death.

As the two continued deeper into the cavernous passage, the temperature around them seemed to be slowly lowered by an invisible hand, gradually becoming bone-chillingly cold. A thin layer of frost began to form on the walls, gleaming eerily and coldly in the dim, flickering light, as if countless cold eyes were secretly observing their every move. In the silent passage, only the soft thudding of their footsteps could be heard. Each step felt like stepping on their own heartbeats, and the echoes echoed faintly through the passage, adding to the eerie atmosphere, as if countless eyes were watching them from the darkness.

Suddenly, a massive stone gate appeared ahead, towering like a towering hill, spanning the passage. Strange runes were engraved across the stone gate, gleaming with a faint, mysterious light, as if speaking of ancient, inviolable taboos. Lin Yu and Suna exchanged a glance, a flicker of wariness and curiosity in their eyes, as they slowly approached the stone gate. Lin Yu reached out his hand, hesitantly, and gently touched the rune. A bone-chilling chill raced down his arm like an electric current, sending a shiver through him, as if an icy force were trying to invade his body.

"This rune seems to contain some powerful power. Touching it rashly might trigger a mechanism. We must be extremely careful." Lin Yu frowned and spoke in a low voice, his eyes filled with solemnity. Suna, on the other hand, was concentrating on observing the arrangement of the runes. Her eyes were sharp and focused, trying to find the hidden pattern in this seemingly chaotic arrangement of runes.

"Look, the arrangement of these runes seems to be according to some kind of formation. Maybe we have to find the key nodes of the formation to open the stone door. This may be the only way for us to move forward." Suna pointed at the runes, with a hint of excitement and expectation in her tone, as if she saw a ray of light in the darkness.

The two began searching for clues around the stone gate. Their figures seemed so small in the dim light, yet filled with determination. Lin Yu carefully observed every corner of the stone gate, not missing a single detail. Suna groped around the ground and walls, hoping to find some clue related to the runes or the stone gate.

Just when they were about to lose confidence, Lin Yu discovered a depression on each side of the stone gate. The shape of the depression resembled the paw prints of some animal, with clear and unique outlines. Lin Yu pondered for a moment, and his previous experience in the valley quickly flashed through his mind. He suddenly remembered to pull out a paw-shaped stone from his arms. This was something they had picked up by chance in the valley. At the time, they had only thought it was a strange shape, but they had never expected it to come in handy now.

He placed the stone into one of the recesses. As soon as it was placed, the stone seemed to come alive, emitting a soft, bright glow that echoed with the runes on the stone door, making the runes' light even brighter. Seeing this, Suna's eyes flashed with surprise, and she quickly quickened her pace, searching the surroundings. She searched carefully in a corner, leaving no stone untouched. Finally, she found another similar stone beneath a raised rock. She carefully picked it up, quickly walked to the other side of the stone door, and placed it in another recess.

Instantly, the runes on the stone door glowed brightly, illuminating the entire passageway and seeming to dispel the surrounding darkness. Then, the stone door slowly opened with a dull rumbling sound, as if a giant beast, slumbering for millennia, had awakened. A strong, rancid odor, so pungent and unpleasant that it nearly made one nauseated. Lin Yu and Suna quickly covered their mouths and noses, their eyes filled with surprise and alarm.

Behind the door was a vast space, filled with thick fog, so thick it seemed almost tangible, completely obscuring everything within. Vaguely, large figures could be seen swaying in the mist. Their blurry forms evoked a strong sense of oppression, as if concealing endless danger.

"Be careful, there could be danger here. This fog and those figures are strange, we can't let our guard down." Lin Yu whispered, his voice barely audible to the two of them. He gripped his sword tightly, his knuckles white from the strain, and surveyed his surroundings with vigilance, his eyes as sharp as a hawk's. Suna said nothing, merely nodding gently, her face etched with tension and concentration. Then, she summoned a poisonous insect, which emerged from her sleeve like a puff of black smoke. Under her command, it slowly advanced into the fog, scouting the way for them.
