Chapter 291: The Journey Begins Again, a Hidden Crisis

The journey begins again, but danger lurks

Armed with the Heart of the Valley and the book containing its secrets, Lin Yu and Suna resolutely embark on a arduous journey to find the remaining gems. After leaving the Misty Valley, they follow the cryptic and ambiguous clues in the book, learning that the next gem is most likely hidden in a place called "Spirit Wind Town." Legend has it that this small town is blessed by a mysterious power, like a pearl hidden in the mortal world, emitting a mysterious and alluring glow. However, the legend of the gem has spread far and wide, attracting many with ulterior motives. Beneath this seemingly peaceful surface lies a turbulent undercurrent.

Along the way, Lin Yu and Suna never slacked off, traveling day and night like tireless migratory birds. In the dense forest, trees obscured the sun, leaving only dappled light and shadows between the layers of branches, resembling fragments of broken golden scales. Occasionally, the low growls of unknown beasts lent the forest a sense of mystery and danger. In the barren desert, scorching sand and gravel tore beneath their feet, the blazing sun blazing down on them relentlessly, threatening to evaporating their moisture. A fierce wind, swirling dust and sand, blew in their faces, making it nearly impossible to open their eyes. Every step required immense effort.

Finally, after days of travel, they arrived at the edge of Lingfeng Town. From afar, the town was shrouded in a thin, ethereal mist, a hazy, mysterious veil that shrouded it like a dreamland. Beneath a large tree at the town's entrance, a white-haired old man sat quietly. His figure was stooped, his back bent, and his face, etched with the marks of time, resembled a walking history book. His gaze, cloudy yet profound, quietly surveyed the passersby, a gaze that seemed to see into their hearts.

Lin Yu and Suna approached with awe, respectfully asking the old man for clues about the gem. The old man slowly raised his head and surveyed them, as if he wanted to see into their souls. After a moment, he slowly spoke, his voice hoarse and low, as if it came from the depths of time: "The legend of the gem has long been passed down in Lingfeng Town, like an ancient ballad, passed down from generation to generation. But only a few have actually seen the gem. The gem is like an illusory dream, mysterious and elusive. It is said that the gem is hidden on Lingfeng Mountain behind the town, guarded by a guardian beast. However, encountering the guardian beast is not easy; one must pass the numerous tests it sets. Moreover, a group of suspicious-looking men in black have recently arrived in town. They are asking around for the gem's whereabouts and appear to be searching for it. You must be careful." The old man's words were like a hammer, hammering down on Lin Yu and Suna's hearts, making them realize that the danger of this journey has increased.

Lin Yu and Suna exchanged a glance, each seeing a mixture of determination and worry in the other's eyes. After thanking the old man, they slowly walked into the town. The streets of the town were not wide, lined with old houses, their walls covered in moss, as if leaving behind a green footprint of time. The moss swayed gently in the breeze, as if telling the ancient story of the town. The roofs of these houses were mostly covered with thatch, which looked a bit shabby after weathering the storm, but it also gave the town a quaint and tranquil atmosphere. However, Lin Yu and Suna keenly sensed that beneath this seemingly calm surface, there seemed to be an undercurrent, like the calm before the storm, which made people vaguely uneasy.

They stayed at the only inn in the town, and just as they put their luggage away, they heard a commotion downstairs. Lin Yu frowned slightly, feeling an ominous premonition. He quickly walked to the window to check, and saw a group of men in black rushing into a shop aggressively. These men in black were covered in black robes, their faces obscured by black masks, revealing only a pair of cold and sharp eyes, like poisonous snakes hiding in the darkness. They were loudly questioning something to the shop owner, their voices sharp and piercing, like the sound of metal rubbing, breaking the tranquility of the town. The owner was so frightened that his face turned pale as paper, his body trembling, his lips trembling as he answered their questions, his eyes full of fear and helplessness.

"It seems these are the men in black the old man mentioned. They're acting so brazenly, they must be well prepared," Lin Yu said in a low voice, frowning. Suna walked gently to Lin Yu's side, following his gaze at the scene downstairs, a trace of worry flashing in her eyes. "They're so eager to find the gems, we have to act quickly, otherwise they might find them first. If the evil forces get their hands on the gems, the consequences will be disastrous." Although Suna's voice was calm, the slightly trembling tone still betrayed her inner anxiety.

To avoid attracting the attention of the men in black, Lin Yu and Suna decided to wait until dark to visit Lingfeng Mountain. Night fell like a vast sheet of black silk, shrouding the town in darkness. The occasional bark of a dog shattered the stillness, echoing through the empty streets and adding a touch of eeriness. Under cover of darkness, Lin Yu and Suna, like two nimble black cats, quietly left the inn and headed towards Lingfeng Mountain.

At the foot of Lingfeng Mountain, a tranquil scene reigned. Moonlight streamed through the forest, casting a veil of silver. Mottled shadows of trees swayed across the ground, as if countless pairs of eyes were watching them, bringing a chill to the heart. Lin Yu and Suna cautiously advanced along the mountain path, taking every step with extreme caution, fearing to alert the danger lurking in the darkness. Suddenly, a massive stone gate appeared ahead, resembling a towering hill, straddling the center of the path. Strange runes were engraved across the gate, gleaming faintly, as if chanting an ancient and mysterious spell. The runes, with their twisted and complex lines, seemed written in an ancient script beyond human comprehension, imbued with a mysterious and powerful power.
