Falling into a trap, mysterious helper
Lin Yu and Suna trudged along the winding mountain path. The early morning sunlight struggled to penetrate the dense foliage, casting dappled shadows and creating a fragmented pattern on the ground. Lin Yu was seriously injured, and every step was accompanied by excruciating pain, but he gritted his teeth and, with Suna's support, forced himself to move forward. They knew that every moment of delay would allow evil forces to obtain the gem before them, plunging the world into irreparable ruin. Therefore, they dared not slack off, as if an invisible force was pushing them forward, forcing them to rest for even a moment.
As she walked, Suna suddenly felt that the atmosphere around her had become strange. The originally clear and melodious bird calls seemed to be cut off in an instant by an invisible hand, and the entire forest fell into an eerie silence. The breeze blew gently, but it did not bring any coolness. Instead, it brought an indescribable chill that made her shiver. Her heart tightened, and she subconsciously held Lin Yu's arm tightly. She looked at Lin Yu with vigilance in her eyes: "Lin Yu, do you feel something is wrong? This silence is too abnormal." Lin Yu had also noticed the abnormality a long time ago. His hand unconsciously clenched the sword, and his knuckles turned white because of the force. He looked around vigilantly, his eyes as sharp as a hawk, trying to catch danger signals from the clues around him: "Be careful, there may be danger. This forest has never been peaceful. This kind of silence is often a sign before the storm."
Just then, a seemingly ordinary village appeared not far ahead. Smoke curled from the village, slowly rising and merging into the azure sky. Occasionally, the sounds of roosters crowing and dogs barking could be heard. At first glance, it seemed like a peaceful and tranquil paradise, secluded from the world. But Lin Yu and Suna were wary. They had experienced too much on this journey fraught with danger and uncertainty, and they knew that in this land, tranquility was often a fragile facade, hiding endless dangers.
"This village is a bit strange, with an indescribable weirdness. Let's go around it." Lin Yu said in a low voice, with unquestionable caution in his tone. Suna nodded in agreement. She also felt that this village was not as simple as it seemed. However, when they were about to take a detour, a white-haired old man walked out of the village. The old man was hunched, his back was like a bow, and his steps were staggering. Every step he took seemed extremely strenuous. When he saw Lin Yu and Suna, a look of surprise suddenly appeared in his cloudy eyes, just like a person who had been walking alone in the desert for a long time and suddenly saw an oasis: "Two friends, where are you going? You look tired and covered in dust, as if you have encountered some trouble. Why don't you go to the village to rest, eat something, and recover your strength."
Lin Yu was filled with doubts and was about to refuse the old man's invitation outright when Suna quietly tugged at his shirt and whispered, a voice only the two of them could hear, "If we refuse rashly like this, it might arouse suspicion. Why don't we go in and take a look? Maybe we can get some useful clues from the villagers about the gems or about evil forces." Lin Yu pondered for a moment and felt that Suna's words made sense. After all, they knew very little about this area, and perhaps they could find some opportunity to break through their predicament in the village. So, with a hint of trepidation, they followed the old man into the village.
When the villagers saw them, they all greeted them warmly with smiles on their faces. The smiles seemed sincere, but Lin Yu and Suna keenly felt that behind the enthusiasm of these villagers, there was a hint of unnaturalness, as if it was deliberately disguised. They were taken to a small room, but it was tidy. The table was filled with rich food, steaming hot, exuding an enticing aroma. The old man smiled and said, "Two young friends, come and eat something. These are the specialties of our village. They are all natural and pollution-free. We grow and raise them ourselves. We guarantee that you can eat with peace of mind."
Lin Yu and Suna exchanged a glance, a flicker of caution in their eyes, and they didn't pick up their chopsticks immediately. Lin Yu smiled and said to the old man, "Old man, we've encountered many dangers along the way and seen many people with ill intentions. This food... we dare not eat it lightly. I hope you can understand our caution." The old man was stunned at first, then burst into laughter, which echoed throughout the room. "You two young friends, you worry too much. Our village has always been peaceful. The villagers are simple and kind, and have never done anything harmful. This food is absolutely fine, you can eat it with confidence."
Despite the old man's repeated assurances and earnest words, Lin Yu and Suna remained on guard, not daring to let their guard down. Just then, Suna glanced out the window and suddenly noticed several dark shadows flash by at such speeds that she wouldn't have noticed them if she hadn't been vigilant. Startled, her heart sank, and she hurriedly whispered to Lin Yu, "Lin Yu, something's wrong. I see dark shadows outside the window. It looks like someone is secretly watching us." Lin Yu nodded slightly, his face remaining calm as he continued to converse with the old man, pretending nothing had happened. At the same time, he secretly observed the movements around him, his hand quietly clenched around his sword, ready to respond to any emergency.
Suddenly, with a loud bang, the door of the house was flung open, and a group of men in black rushed in like a tide. The man in the lead was the same man who had fought them at Lingfeng Mountain. He wore a smug smile on his face, a smile that seemed to declare victory, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes. "Humph, you really have taken the bait. Today, you can't escape even if you have wings!" His voice echoed in the house, full of arrogance and arrogance.
