Chapter 299: Deep in the Temple, Hidden Danger

Deep into the temple, shadow crisis

Hearing the deep roar that sounded like a blast from the Netherworld, Lin Yu, Suna, and Leng Xuan's nerves instantly tensed, as if being gripped by an invisible, giant hand. Lin Yu instinctively clenched his sword, his knuckles turning white from the strain. His eyes, sharp as a hawk, stared intently at the closed temple door, his mind racing, pondering a response. He knew that in this temple, shrouded in mystery and danger, any rash action could be like triggering Pandora's box, unleashing a fatal crisis. "This roar carries incredible power. We must not enter rashly. Let's calm down and see if we can find any clues from these runes. Perhaps we can foresee the dangers lurking within," Lin Yu said in a low voice, as if afraid of disturbing the unknown being lurking in the shadows, his caution as if treading on thin ice.

Leng Xuan nodded solemnly, his gaze fixed once again on the mysterious runes on the temple wall. He slowly approached, almost pressing his face against the runes, carefully examining each line, attempting to decipher the ancient messages contained within them. Suna also hurried over. Although her knowledge of runes was limited, a deep sense of mission compelled her to do her part. "These runes seem to speak of an ancient and mysterious guardian ritual, as if the temple holds an immensely powerful force, guarding a startling secret. Perhaps this secret is closely connected to the clue to the gem we've been searching for, but the specific conditions for triggering this guardian force remain elusive," Leng Xuan muttered, absorbed in his study, his tone tinged with confusion and speculation.

Just as they were absorbed in their study of the runes, the temple's heavy gate trembled without warning. A dull humming sound accompanied it, and a faint, almost imperceptible light shone through the crack. Then, like a flood bursting through a dam, the light grew stronger, gradually dispelling the surrounding darkness. The gate slowly opened with a creaking sound, like the turning of the gears of time. A stale and mysterious aura, with a faint scent of decay, filled them, as if it had traveled through countless years, instantly transporting them to a mysterious world forgotten by time.

"The door opened on its own! What on earth is going on?" Suna exclaimed in surprise. Her eyes widened, and a strong sense of foreboding surged in her heart, as if a cold hand was gently stroking her spine, giving her goose bumps all over her body. Lin Yu's brows were tightly furrowed into the shape of the character "川", his eyes revealing vigilance and decisiveness. He said, "No matter what, we must proceed with caution and enter with caution. Leng Xuan, you hold the Shadow Moon Blade and scout the way ahead. Suna and I will follow closely behind you. Suna, you prepare the Gu worm and be ready for any possible emergencies."

With a mixture of trepidation and determination, the three cautiously entered the temple. The interior was utterly dark, like a vast black hole. Only a few faint rays of light struggled to filter through the cracks in the walls, flickering like candlelight in the darkness, barely illuminating the winding path ahead. Around them stood a variety of ancient statues, their faces long blurred, as if mercilessly washed away by the torrent of time. Yet, they still exuded a majestic and eerie aura, as if their eyes, hidden in the darkness, coldly gazed down upon the intruders, sending a chill down one's spine.

They slowly made their way along a narrow, deep passage, the walls on either side covered in more mysterious runes and bizarre patterns. The runes seemed alive, gleaming eerily in the dim light; the patterns were twisted and abstract, like mysterious symbols from another dimension. Lin Yu paused periodically to examine the runes, attempting to find the key to unlocking the temple's secrets from these ancient symbols. His eyes revealed a focus and perseverance, as if he were intent on memorizing every detail of the runes.

Suddenly, Leng Xuan stopped dead in his tracks, leaning forward slightly, his gaze warily fixed. He whispered, "There's movement ahead." Everyone subconsciously held their breath, as if time had frozen in that moment. A hazy figure slowly emerged from the darkness ahead, like a ghost rising from the abyss. The figure gradually became clearer, revealing a figure clad in a black robe. His body was tightly wrapped in the robe, his face completely hidden by the deep shadow of his hood. His features were invisible, leaving only a mysterious and oppressive aura.

"You shouldn't come here. This is not a place you can set foot in." The black-robed man's voice was low and hoarse, as if it came from a tomb underground. It carried a creepy coldness and vicissitudes. Every word was like a heavy hammer, hitting their hearts hard.

Lin Yu took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. He took a step forward, his eyes firm and fearless, and said: "We are here to find clues about the gems. This is related to the safety of the world. Please move aside." His voice was firm and powerful, echoing like a bell in this silent temple, showing his determination.

The black-robed man sneered, his laughter echoing in the darkness, filled with mockery and disdain. "A clue to the gem? You think you can get it so easily? The danger here is far beyond your imagination. You are nothing but moths to a flame, courting your own destruction."
