Chapter 309: The Stormy Return, Eve of the Seal

Return to Storm, on the Eve of the Seal

Lin Yu, Suna, and Leng Xuan, clutching the three artifacts, slowly set out on their journey home. Their steps were worn with fatigue from days of travel and battle, each step feeling like dragging a thousand-pound lead block. Yet, their eyes shone like glittering stars, filled with the hope of near victory. The scenery along the Yellow River—the rolling hills, swaying reeds, and the surging river—became more than just natural beauty to them; it served as silent witnesses to their arduous and adventurous journey.

However, fate seemed to have no intention of making their return smooth. As they approached the Yellow River, the once jewel-blue sky gradually became obscured by a thick, dark cloud. The dark clouds, like ink, spread rapidly, mercilessly devouring the bright sunshine, and the world was instantly plunged into a gloom. Then, a fierce wind, like an angry beast, swept in, howling and shaking the trees on both sides. The branches rustled against each other, making a sound like nature's ominous warning, or like the low wails of countless wronged souls in the darkness.

"The weather has changed so suddenly. I feel like something bad is about to happen," Suna said anxiously, her voice trembling slightly like a leaf shivering in the cold wind. She instinctively hugged the package containing the artifact tightly, as if it were her only support at the moment. Her eyes revealed a deep fear. Faced with this sudden change, an ominous premonition gripped her heart.

Lin Yu looked up at the sky, his brows furrowed like two mountains about to collide. His eyes revealed a solemn and vigilant expression as he said, "Everyone, be careful! The Yellow River Giant Turtle may have sensed the approach of the artifact and doesn't want us to successfully seal it, which is why this happened." Lin Yu knew that the Yellow River Giant Turtle's power was beyond imagination, and that what they were about to face would surely be a life-or-death battle.

Leng Xuan gripped the Shadow Moon Blade tightly, his knuckles turning white from the strain. His eyes were as sharp as a hawk's, vigilantly observing every movement around him. He said, "No matter what comes, we can't let it succeed. We must bring the artifact back safely. We've gone through so many hardships and dangers, we can't fail at this last moment." Leng Xuan's voice was firm and powerful, echoing like a bell in the fierce wind, bringing a sense of courage and confidence to his companions.

At that moment, the calm surface of the Yellow River suddenly erupted into a turbulent sea, the water churning and boiling. A massive figure slowly rose from the water—the terrifying Yellow River giant turtle. Its body was even larger than the last time they had seen it, like a moving mountain. Its shell was covered in moss and seaweed, swaying with the waves like a strange and mysterious ornament. Its eyes flashed with a furious red light that seemed to pierce the darkness. It stared intently at Lin Yu and the other two, as if scorching their very souls. Then, the giant turtle opened its bloody maw and unleashed a deafening roar. The roar resonated like thunder, shaking the very ground and seeming to shatter their courage.

"It's coming! Prepare for battle!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice filled with a desperate determination. He quickly drew his sword, which gleamed with an icy cold light in the dimming light, as if sensing the fierce battle to come, and trembling with excitement. Lin Yu's eyes revealed a firm and resolute look. He knew that this battle would determine their fate, and the future of this land.

Suna quickly set down the package, took a deep breath, and tried to calm her trembling hands. She concentrated, preparing to command the insects. Her eyes revealed determination. Although fear still loomed in her heart, she knew she couldn't retreat at this moment. "Insects, we must succeed this time!" she said silently in her heart, as if conveying her belief to the insects.

Leng Xuan, like a flash of black lightning, rushed towards the giant turtle without hesitation. He wielded the Shadow Moon Blade with great force, creating sharp gusts of wind that sounded like the whispers of death. The giant turtle seemed to sense Leng Xuan's threat. It opened its maw and a powerful stream of water, like a raging waterfall, gushed towards Leng Xuan. Leng Xuan's eyes sharpened instantly, and with his agility, he dodged nimbly to the side. The water whistled past his body, its powerful impact uprooting nearby trees as if they were just fragile straws.

Lin Yu seized the opportunity, kicked the ground with both feet, and rushed towards the giant turtle's legs. He gathered all his strength in his arms, raised his sword high, and with the force of breaking the wind, he slashed fiercely on the giant turtle's hard scales. The sword collided with the scales, making a loud "clang" sound, like the ringing of a bell, splashing a dazzling spark. The giant turtle roared in pain, and it swung its body angrily. Its huge tail swept towards Lin Yu like a black python. Lin Yu was startled and quickly jumped back to avoid it, but accidentally tripped over a protruding stone and fell backwards to the ground.

Seeing this, Suna was terrified. She immediately focused her attention, directing the insects toward the giant turtle's eyes. Under her control, the insects, like a dense black fog, rapidly approached the giant turtle. The giant turtle seemed wary of the insects, acutely sensing the danger. It immediately closed its eyes and simultaneously unleashed a powerful stream of air from its mouth. The force of the air, like a hurricane, instantly scattering the insects. The insects struggled in the airflow, emitting a whine that seemed to express their helplessness and unwillingness.
