Chapter 312: Finding Opportunities in Difficulties, Breaking the Situation with Cold Iron

Finding opportunities in adversity, breaking through the impasse with cold iron

Flames erupted from the dragon's mouth like surging magma, a strange blue-green hue, with wisps of black dancing around its edges. It resembled the infernal fire of hell, carrying a terrifying aura of annihilation. Wherever the flames passed, the air instantly ignited, emitting a crackling sound. The scorching heat distorted the surrounding light, making the viewer feel as if they were trapped in a twisted purgatory.

Lin Yu felt a scorching heat wave rushing towards him, as if it was going to swallow him whole. Startled, he shouted, "Get some cover!" He quickly glanced around and fixed his eyes on a protruding boulder next to him. The surface of the boulder was rough and covered with traces of years of erosion, but at this moment it seemed to be his only lifeline. He kicked the ground with both feet and flew over. His body rubbed against the ground, causing a burning pain. The flames brushed past his back, and the scorching temperature made the clothes on his back smoke instantly, and a pungent smell of burning filled the air. He secretly rejoiced in his heart: "What a close call, if I was a step slower, I would have been burned to ashes."

Su Na was terrified by the sudden burst of flames, her face pale and her heart pounding. She ran towards a narrow and deep crevice nearby, like a wound in the mountain. Her heart was filled with fear, and her legs felt weak. But seeing the determined figures of Lin Yu and Leng Xuan, she felt a surge of courage and encouraged herself, "We can do this. We can't fail here. They're all fighting so hard, and I can't let them down."

Leng Xuan displayed astonishing agility and courage. With his nimble movements, he weaved back and forth through the flames like a black ghost. The flames, like a savage demon, repeatedly attempted to seize him, but he deftly dodged them. He stared at the dragon with a hawk-like gaze, pondering a strategy. "This dragon's attacks are too fierce and erratic. We won't be able to hold out for long. We must quickly obtain the Cold Iron Sword; it may be our only hope of defeating it. But the dragon is guarding it so closely. How can we find a way to reach the river?"

The flames finally died down, and the blazing light gradually dimmed. The dragon seemed to have taken a short breath due to the continuous attacks. Its huge body rose and fell slightly, like a mountain breathing slowly, and bursts of white mist spurted out of its nostrils, as if it was breathing in anger. Lin Yu carefully poked his head out from behind the boulder, his face covered with dust and sweat. He looked at Leng Xuan and Suna and shouted, "Is everyone okay?" His voice was a little hoarse due to tension and fatigue. After the two responded that they were fine, Lin Yu continued, "Passive avoidance like this is not a solution. We have to take the initiative and find a way to get the Cold Iron Sword. Maybe that is the key to defeating it. This dragon is so powerful that ordinary attacks are completely ineffective against it. The Cold Iron Sword may contain the power to restrain it."

Suna looked at the surging river, swirling under the dragon's influence. The waves crashed against the banks, creating a deafening roar. Her face was troubled, her voice trembling as she spoke, "But the dragon is guarding it. How can we get close? And the Cold Iron Sword weighs a thousand pounds. Even if we get it, how can we use it? The river is so turbulent that even getting close is difficult, let alone finding and retrieving the sword from the bottom."

Lin Yu frowned, the wrinkles on his forehead as deep as ravines. He pondered for a moment, a look of determination flashing in his eyes, and said: "Let's distract its attention first. I will lure the dragon away. Leng Xuan, you take this opportunity to find a chance to dive underwater and get the sword. As for how to use the Cold Iron Sword, we will figure it out after we get it. This is our only way now. We can't give up even if there is only a glimmer of hope."

Leng Xuan nodded, his eyes as firm as steel, and said without hesitation: "Okay, I will find an opportunity. No matter what, I will definitely take out the sword. You guys should also be careful up there, this dragon will not let you go easily."

Lin Yu took a deep breath, his chest heaving violently as if gathering all his strength. He gripped his sword tightly, and it gleamed coldly in the sunlight. The lines on the hilt seemed to pulse with his determination. He shouted to the dragon, "Evil dragon, look at the sword!" His voice echoed through the valley, filled with fearless courage. With that, he brandished the sword and charged toward the dragon, his steps firm and powerful, each step seemingly punctuated by the rhythm of fate.

The dragon, enraged, turned its massive head toward Lin Yu. Its eyes, like a pair of flaming blood-red lanterns, radiated a chilling, murderous gleam. It opened its maw, revealing two rows of fangs as sharp as daggers. Each fang dripped with green venom, which dripped onto the ground, instantly corroding tiny, smoking pits. Its whiskers danced frantically, like two nimble whips, hissing. The dragon's body was covered in a thick layer of cyan scales, each the size of a shield. Their surface was as smooth as a mirror, yet incredibly hard, gleaming with a cold metallic sheen in the sunlight, like an indestructible coat of armor.

Lin Yu nimbly moved in front of the dragon like a nimble cheetah, repeatedly swinging his sword at its legs. The sword struck the dragon's scales, sending up dazzling sparks and a crisp clang, but it only left a few shallow marks. The dragon, in pain, roared angrily, a roar like thunder, shaking the surrounding mountains and sending countless rocks tumbling down. It lashed its tail angrily, like a thick black python, sweeping towards Lin Yu with immense force. Lin Yu quickly dodged to the side, but the tail brushed past him, stirring up a strong gust of wind that sent his hair flying.
