Chapter 313: Sword Breaks the Dragon, Crisis Resolved

The sword breaks the dragon and the crisis is finally resolved

At the bottom of the river, Leng Xuan was violently flung back by the powerful and mysterious force of the iron cage rune. His body felt like it had been struck by a heavy hammer, and his internal organs seemed to have shifted. A mouthful of blood spurted out uncontrollably, rapidly spreading through the murky water like a blooming blood-red demonic flower. Yet, the determination in his eyes remained unwavering, instead burning even more fiercely with this setback. He endured the excruciating pain that felt like his body was tearing apart, paddling with all his might in the river, like a wounded but unyielding beast, swimming rapidly towards the iron cage once again.

At this moment, he keenly noticed that the flickering rhythm of the runes on the iron cage seemed to hold a hidden meaning. The rhythm of the light seemed to speak an ancient and mysterious language, conveying some message to him. Recalling his previous experience solving puzzles in various ruins, he suspected that this might be the key to unlocking the iron cage and obtaining the Cold Iron Sword. He knew that this was their last hope of defeating the dragon and must not be missed.

Leng Xuan stared at the rune with rapt attention, his eyes unblinking, as if he were engraving every detail of the rune into his soul. The rune's light danced like a mysterious flame, each flicker a mysterious signal from fate. In the dark, cold depths of the river, it seemed strangely alluring. His heartbeat raced to the rhythm of the rune, threatening to burst through his chest. His mind raced like lightning, attempting to decipher the secrets hidden within the ancient rune.

After several intense and focused observations, he finally discovered that after every three bright flashes of light, the rune would briefly dim. This discovery brought a glimmer of hope to his previously gloomy heart. He was delighted, realizing that this brief dimming might be the key to unlocking the cage. However, he also knew that opportunity was fleeting and he couldn't afford to make any mistakes.

The next time the rune's bright light flashed twice, Leng Xuan gripped the Shadow Moon Blade tightly, his palms slick with sweat, mingling with the river water. His eyes fixed on the rune, a look of desperate determination, awaiting the bleak moment that would determine his fate. When the third bright flash passed, and the rune's radiance faded slightly, he swung the Shadow Moon Blade without hesitation, slashing fiercely at the iron cage's lock. This single strike condensed all his strength and hope. The Shadow Moon Blade carved a sharp arc through the river, piercing the wind as it struck the lock with a resounding, dull thud that seemed to shake the very riverbed.

Fortunately, this time, the lock was slightly loosened, and a tiny but hopeful crack appeared on it. However, this slight change was like a fuse, completely enraging the evil dragon on the river.

At this moment, the dragon on the river seemed to sense that Leng Xuan was about to successfully retrieve the Cold Iron Sword, and it suddenly became even more frantic. Its huge body was like an angry moving mountain. It no longer paid attention to Lin Yu and Suna's interference, and focused all its attention on the river surface. It continued to slap the river water with its sharp claws and thick, powerful tail, stirring it wildly, and the river was boiling as if the end of the world had come. Huge waves rose to the sky, forming walls of water several feet high, like roaring water beasts, constantly crashing against the river bank. The whole of Leshan trembled in this violent tremor, as if the earth was groaning in fear. Rocks from the mountain rolled down like raindrops, and trees were uprooted and swept into the surging river.

Lin Yu and Suna were forced back repeatedly by the surging waves on the shore. Lin Yu, anxious, watched the frantic dragon, knowing he had to do something to buy Leng Xuan more time, or everything would be lost. He turned to Suna and shouted, his voice resolute above the roar of the waves: "Suna, we can't let the dragon succeed! Keep interfering with it! This is our last chance!" Suna's face was pale, but her eyes were firm as she nodded. Though her heart was filled with fear, her legs trembling slightly with fear, she forced herself to command the Gu worms to charge the dragon again. The Gu worms struggled against the waves and the strong wind, like weak ships struggling in a storm. Although some were mercilessly blown away and disappeared into the turbulent river, they continued to fly towards the dragon without hesitation, as if driven by an invisible belief.

Lin Yu brandished his sword and shouted curses at the dragon, trying to provoke it and draw its attention. "Evil beast, come at me if you dare! You're only capable of wreaking havoc on the river, what a skill! You coward, you only know how to resort to such despicable tactics!" The dragon, completely enraged by Lin Yu's curses, flashed a fierce gleam in its blood-red eyes. It temporarily paused its attack on the river, turned around, and unleashed a stream of flames at Lin Yu, even hotter and more ferocious than before. The flames, like a roaring fire dragon, lunged at Lin Yu with destructive force. Lin Yu was prepared, dodging to the side with the agility of a cheetah. The flames brushed past him, instantly burning a huge rock behind him to ash. The rock crumbled to dust under the intense heat, dispersing on the wind, leaving behind only a pungent, burnt smell.

At the bottom of the river, Leng Xuan took advantage of Long's distraction to attack the lock once more. He swung the Shadow Moon Blade again and again, each blow consuming every ounce of his strength, as if pouring his very soul into the attack. Sweat and blood mingled in the river, his arms trembling like a candle in the wind from the exertion, but he refused to give up, his heart steadfast in one single conviction: he must open the cage, retrieve the Cold Iron Sword, and save them all. Finally, after another precisely timed attack as the runes dimmed, the lock snapped with a creaking sound, echoing through the riverbed like a trumpet of victory. The cage door slowly swung open, unleashing a powerful, ancient force from the Cold Iron Sword, sending the surrounding river water churning wildly into a massive whirlpool.
