Chapter 315: The Mist Clears, and the Crisis Comes Again

The fog gradually clears, and the crisis comes again

Lin Yu had just stumbled out of the cave when the scene before him was like a nightmare, instantly freezing him in shock. The once smooth road now seemed to be torn apart by an invisible giant hand, and the cracks spread like spider webs, expanding wildly. Black smoke, like an evil torrent from the abyss of hell, gushed out from the ground with overwhelming force, swallowing everything around it in a gloomy darkness in the blink of an eye. The pungent smell was as strong as a substance, like sharp needles drilling into Lin Yu's nose and throat, nearly suffocating him and causing tears to flow uncontrollably.

"What the hell is this? Could it be related to that mysterious device?" Lin Yu coughed violently, clutching his sleeves tightly against his mouth and nose. His mind was a tangled mess of fear and confusion. His brain raced, trying to make sense of the chaotic situation. However, before he could comprehend anything, a low roaring sound rose faintly from the smoke. The sound seemed to come from the depths of the earth, dull and filled with endless anger. Like a heavy hammer, it hammered against Lin Yu's heart, causing it to beat rapidly, as if it was about to burst through his chest.

"No matter who you are, I will reveal your true identity!" Lin Yu gritted his teeth and whispered to himself, trying to embolden himself. Although his voice trembled slightly with fear, his eyes were filled with unwavering determination. In this perilous moment, he knew he must not panic; he had to remain calm and find a solution.

Suddenly, a massive black claw, like a sharp black blade, thrust itself out from the smoke. With a loud bang, it gripped the road surface with a heavy clawing sound. The concrete road surface creaked under the weight, and deep grooves were instantly carved into it, sending debris flying. Then, a massive figure slowly emerged from the smoke, like a black hill. It was a monster the size of an ox, covered in black scales. Each scale shimmered with an eerie glow, like countless evil eyes peering from the darkness. Its eyes, like two burning red flames, blazing with rage and murderous intent, stared at Lin Yu fiercely, as if it wanted to devour him alive.

"What kind of monster is this? Could it be the instigator of all these bizarre events?" Lin Yu's heart was filled with confusion and shock, and his legs couldn't help but tremble slightly. But his years of experience as an investigator at Bureau 749 helped him quickly calm down despite his extreme fear. He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and his mind began to work rapidly, thinking about a response. He knew that every second was crucial. If he panicked, he would be plunged into an abyss of no return.

The monster seemed to sense Lin Yu's fear. It opened its bloody mouth and let out a deafening roar. The roar was like the explosion of thunder, and the sound waves were like sharp blades, whistling towards Lin Yu. Lin Yu felt a powerful impact, as if an invisible mountain was pressing down on him. He quickly dodged to the side, his body rubbing against the ground, and felt a burning pain. The sound waves flew past his body, and with a "crack", they cut a large tree in half by the roadside. The tree fell with a loud bang, raising a cloud of dust.

"Goodness! This attack power is not to be underestimated." Lin Yu was secretly amazed, a chill running through his heart. But he was not intimidated by this powerful force. Instead, he became more determined to uncover the truth. He quickly looked around, trying to find the monster's weakness. After a brief observation, he found that the scales on the monster's abdomen seemed relatively sparse, perhaps there was a breakthrough point.

"Perhaps this is the key to defeating it," Lin Yu thought, a flicker of determination in his eyes. He closely watched the monster's every move, crouching slightly like a cheetah poised for action, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Every second passed indefinitely, and Lin Yu could clearly hear his own heartbeat, thump ...

The monster seemed to sense Lin Yu's intentions. It shook its massive body, its scales rubbing against each other, making a rustling sound like the whisper of death. Then, it lunged at Lin Yu again, so fast that he barely had time to react. Its massive body was like a runaway truck, carrying the momentum of destruction.

Lin Yu seized the opportunity, and just as the monster was about to pounce, he lunged forward. His figure flashed through the smoke, and he nimbly dodged to the side, avoiding the monster's frontal attack. Then, he quickly swung the device in his hand towards the monster's abdomen. The device arced in mid-air, carrying all of Lin Yu's strength and hope, and slammed heavily into the monster's abdomen. There was only a dull sound, like hitting a huge drum.

The monster roared in pain, its voice echoing throughout the valley. Its tail, like a thick black steel whip, swept towards Lin Yu with immense force. Lin Yu couldn't dodge, feeling a massive force strike him. He flew out like a kite with its string cut, tracing a parabola through the air before crashing heavily to the ground. His body slid along the ground for a distance, raising a cloud of dust.

"Ahem..." Lin Yu struggled to his feet, feeling as if his internal organs had shifted, and sharp pain shot through his body. A trickle of blood oozed from the corner of his mouth and slowly dripped down his chin. But he didn't retreat at all, his determination growing stronger: "I must defeat it and uncover the secret of the Broken Road. I can't fall here. There are so many bizarre incidents waiting for me to solve, and there are villagers waiting for me to save them."
