Chapter 320: The Truth Comes to Light and the Crisis is Averted

The truth is revealed and the crisis is resolved

Lin Yu's eyes burned like torches as he glared at the black sphere, his fury threatening to consume the entire cellar. He wished he could transform into a sharp blade and shatter the evil sphere. However, reason told him to remain calm. The sphere had proactively revealed its hidden secrets, and perhaps this held the key to unlocking the mystery and resolving the crisis.

"You said all this was fate. What exactly do you mean? What secrets are there?" Lin Yu demanded loudly, his voice resonating through the near-deathly silent cellar, as if to break through the oppressive atmosphere. He stared intently at the sphere, observing its every movement, while subtly signaling his teammates with a glance. That look was like a silent command, signaling everyone to remain vigilant, for no one knew what tricks this strange sphere might unleash next.

The sphere let out a sinister, bone-chilling laugh. It was like countless cold ants crawling through everyone's ear canals, slithering across their nerves, sending goosebumps cascading down their skin. "Hmph, you ignorant ants," the sphere's voice was filled with disdain and contempt. "This cellar was once a powerful seal from ancient times. Once, there was a powerful sorcerer who aspired to rule the world. His ambition was like an endless black hole, devouring the world's peace and tranquility. Later, several saints of supreme power stepped forward and, after a brutal battle, sealed the sorcerer here. However, the relentless flow of time and the erosion of time have gradually caused the seal to loosen. The vital energy of those who have disappeared is the key to preventing this shaky seal from completely collapsing."

Hearing this, Lin Yu's heart trembled, and the files of the missing persons he had seen earlier flashed through his mind. Their desperate faces and the bizarre circumstances of their disappearances flashed before his eyes like a movie. Rage surged like a volcanic eruption, mingled with deep doubt. "Why are you using the lives of innocent people to maintain the seal? You evil beings deserve death!" Lin Yu trembled with rage, his knuckles whitening from his clenched fists, as if he were about to charge forward and engage the sphere in another desperate battle.

The sphere seemed unconcerned with Lin Yu's anger, and continued to speak slowly in that cold voice: "If the seal fails completely, the sorcerer's terrifying power will descend upon the world again. At that time, darkness will flood everything like a tide, chaos will run rampant, and the entire world will fall into an abyss of no return. And I, originally part of the seal, have to use this extreme method to maintain balance in order to prevent this worst-case scenario from happening."

The team members were overwhelmed with mixed emotions after hearing the sphere's explanation. On the one hand, the sphere's use of innocent lives to maintain the seal was truly outrageous, making them want to destroy it immediately. On the other hand, the horrific consequences it described made everyone realize the seriousness of the matter, as if an invisible mountain was pressing down on everyone's heart.

"If that's the case, why don't we seek other solutions instead of creating so many tragedies?" A team member shouted angrily with his face flushed, his voice filled with uncontrollable grief and indignation.

The sphere was silent for a moment, a brief silence that seemed as long as a century, as if it too was recalling those frustrations and struggles. After a long moment, it slowly spoke, "Over the years, no one in this world knows the complete method of the seal anymore. Over the years, I have tried various methods, attempting to guide humanity to discover the truth and restore the seal. However, they are either bound by their inner fears, choosing to flee when faced with mystery and the unknown; or they are blinded by greed, focusing only on immediate benefits and ignoring what truly matters."

Lin Yu's brows knitted together like a twisted dough stick, as he pondered the sphere's words. He knew he couldn't act rashly at this moment. He had to find a way to both eliminate the evil and prevent the disaster. "Then why don't you work with us? Perhaps we can find a way to repair the seal and prevent further tragedy." Lin Yu's voice was steady and resolute, trying to convey his resolve and sincerity to the sphere.

The sphere sneered, its laughter filled with suspicion and disdain. "You? Just a bunch of guys who overestimate your own abilities. But now that my strength is greatly weakened, I can only give it a try. Deep in this cellar, there is an ancient book that records part of the sealing method. But it is missing a key part, and you will need to find it yourself."

Lin Yu exchanged a quick glance with the team members, their gazes conveying a sense of resolve and trust. "Okay, we promise. But you must promise not to harm anyone else while we search for the missing parts," Lin Yu said firmly, his eyes revealing unquestionable determination.

The sphere let out a deep roar, a sound like magma roiling beneath the earth, as if weighing the pros and cons. After a long moment, it reluctantly said, "Yes, but you must act quickly. Once the seal is completely broken, no one will be able to prevent the catastrophe. At that time, your so-called justice and courage will be as fragile as bubbles."

Lin Yu and his companions didn't dare delay, immediately beginning their search for the ancient tome deep within the cellar. The cellar was filled with an air of stale decay, as if time had stood still, the dust of the ages gathering for millennia. Around them lay a variety of ancient and eerie artifacts. Some resembled ferocious monsters, roaring silently; others emanated a cold glow, as if concealing unknown secrets. These artifacts loomed in the dim light, as if countless pairs of eyes were peering at them from the darkness, a chilling feeling.
