Chapter 339: Unraveling the mystery of the stone gate, surrounded by dangers

Solve the puzzle of Shimen, full of dangers

Lin Yu stared intently at the flickering runes on the stone gate, his brain akin to a machine operating at breakneck speed. Thoughts tangled like a tangled web, yet he had to quickly sort through the chaos and decipher the hidden meanings behind these mysterious symbols. His heartbeat, pounding with anxiety and anticipation, raced ever faster, threatening to burst through his chest. Beads of sweat, the size of beans, oozed from his forehead, trickled down his cheeks, and vanished instantly onto the dusty ground. The passageway vibrated with increasing force, as if the entire world was trembling under the force. Stones fell like a dense rain, each dull thud like a hammering blow to the hearts of the crowd, their hearts instantly rising to their throats, as if they would burst out at any moment.

"Captain, what should we do? If we don't find a solution, the tunnel will collapse!" One of the team members finally couldn't help but shout anxiously. His voice was piercing with fear and despair, echoing in the narrow passage, adding to the tension and terror. Lin Yu gritted his teeth, his gaze fixed on the rune, and shouted, "Don't panic, everyone! I will find a way to open the stone door!" Although his tone sounded resolute, only he knew that his heart was filled with anxiety. Time slipped away like sand in an hourglass, and the meaning of the rune was like a mystery hidden behind a thick fog, obscure and difficult to understand, leaving him with no idea where to start.

Lin Yu forced himself to calm down and began to recall the runes he had seen on the ice gate and the crystal ball. The runes flashed through his mind one by one, like a slide show. He knew that there must be some inherent logical connection between these seemingly unrelated runes, and this might be the key to unlocking the stone gate. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his pounding heart, and then focused on carefully comparing the runes on the stone gate with the symbols in his memory. Every line, every turn, he pondered over and over in his mind.

"Eureka!" Lin Yu's eyes suddenly lit up, a glint of excitement flashing in them. He discovered that the arrangement of the runes on the stone gate held a subtle yet crucial connection to those on the ice gate. Drawing on his previous experience opening the ice gate, he quickly constructed a possible cracking sequence in his mind. Lin Yu slowly extended his hand, trembling slightly, perhaps from nervousness or fatigue. He carefully touched the runes, pressing them one by one according to his assumptions. With each press, the rune glowed brighter, a light that seemed especially dazzling in this dim and treacherous passage. At the same time, the vibrations in the passage seemed to weaken slightly, and this slight change gave everyone a glimmer of hope.

The team members closely watched Lin Yu's every move, not daring to blink, as if afraid to miss a single moment. Their eyes were filled with anticipation, like those of travelers in the darkness longing for light. "Captain, come on!" "We must succeed!" The team members' shouts echoed through the passageway, each one like a hammer, hammering down on Lin Yu's heart, bringing immense pressure upon him, but at the same time, becoming a powerful motivation for him to persevere.

However, just as Lin Yu pressed the penultimate rune, something unexpected happened. The stone gate suddenly emitted a piercing buzzing sound, as sharp as a blade, nearly piercing everyone's eardrums. Then, the rune shone brightly, almost blinding the gaze. An unimaginably powerful force surged from the stone gate like a surging ocean wave, instantly sending Lin Yu flying. Lin Yu arced uncontrollably through the air, landing heavily on the ground in a cloud of dust. A mouthful of blood spurted uncontrollably from his mouth, creating a dazzling splash in the dust.

"Captain!" The team members exclaimed in shock upon seeing this, desperately surrounding him and quickly helping Lin Yu to his feet. Lin Yu's face was as pale as a sheet of paper, devoid of color, and a trace of blood still lingered at the corner of his mouth. He stared at the stone gate, his eyes filled with resentment and self-blame. "I... I might have gotten the order wrong. Give me a little more time," Lin Yu said weakly, his voice trembling as if he had exhausted all his strength.

At this moment, the vibrations in the passage became more and more violent, as if it was on the verge of collapse. Huge cracks appeared on the ceiling, like the bloody mouth of a ferocious beast, which could swallow everyone at any time. The falling rocks became larger and denser, making it increasingly difficult for everyone to dodge. Lin Yu knew that time was running out, and every second was related to everyone's life and death. He endured the pain all over his body, supported himself with his hands, and stood up again. A determined light rekindled in his eyes, and he looked at the stone door firmly, as if he wanted to see through it. He carefully recalled the operation just now, replaying every detail in his mind over and over again, thinking about where the error might have occurred.

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck him, and he realized he had overlooked a tiny detail on the crystal ball map. Though insignificant, that detail was now crystal clear in his mind. Perhaps it held the key to adjusting the rune order. Lin Yu once again approached the stone door, took a deep breath, and tried to calm his trembling body. His eyes were filled with determination as he pressed the runes again in the new order. This time, the runes' flickering light became softer and more stable, no longer as glaring and violent as before. The stone door slowly opened with a gentle rumble, and a warm light shone from within, as if extending a hand of hope in the darkness.

"Success!" The team members couldn't help but cheer, their faces filled with the joy of having survived. However, before their smiles could fully unfold, a powerful heat wave suddenly surged from the doorway, like a raging wave of fire, rushing towards them. The heat wave was mixed with the pungent smell of sulfur, making it almost impossible to breathe. Then, a huge flaming monster appeared before everyone. The monster's entire body was burning with raging flames. The flames danced like the tentacles of a demon, emitting suffocating heat, as if to reduce everything around it to ash. It opened its bloody mouth, spewing blazing flames from it, and let out a deafening roar. The sound was like rolling thunder, echoing through the passage, as if to shatter everyone's soul.
