Chapter 347: Borrowing the Key to Escape from the Ice Cave

Borrow the key to escape from the ice cave

Lin Yu keenly sensed the key's light's significant deterrent effect on the shadows. Suddenly, a glimmer of hope ignited within his gloomy heart. Without hesitation, he raised the key high in the air. The light, like the brightest star in the darkness, shone even brighter in the thick smoke. He shouted at the top of his lungs, "Everyone, come closer. Use the key's light!" His voice echoed through the eerie ice cave, carrying a sense of desperate resolve. As if grasping a lifeline in the darkness, the team members quickly rallied toward him, tightly surrounding him in a tight defensive circle.

At that moment, the key's light shone fiercely through the thick smoke, like a beacon, attempting to dispel the endless darkness. The shadows seemed wary of the light, hovering around its edge, emitting deep, resentful roars that sounded like a curse emanating from the depths of hell, a chilling sound. Lin Yu stared at the shadows, thinking to himself, "This light seems to be temporarily suppressing them, but we can't remain trapped here. We must find a way to escape quickly." His mind, like a precision instrument, raced through various possibilities.

Suddenly, Lin Yu's sharp eyes caught sight of a flawless circle of shadows. In a certain direction, the shadows were relatively sparse, a glimmer of hope left for them in this desperate situation. "Look over there, there are fewer shadows. Let's break out in that direction!" Lin Yu pointed, his voice firm. The team members looked in the direction of his finger and saw that the shadows were relatively few and widely spaced, offering a good opportunity to break out. They nodded, understanding Lin Yu's intention. "Follow my command. On the count of three, everyone charge!" Lin Yu shouted again, his voice filled with inspiring strength. Upon hearing this, the team members clenched their weapons tightly, their knuckles whitening from the exertion. Their eyes revealed a fierce determination, ready to charge.

"One, two, three, charge!" Lin Yu's command rang out like a charge horn. With him at the center, everyone rushed forward like a fearless arrow, toward the direction where the shadows were sparse. Lin Yu waved the key in his hand, allowing the light to illuminate the unknown and dangerous path ahead as much as possible, while shouting encouragement to his teammates. The shadows, sensing a strong threat, roared in anger, attempting to block their path. However, under the light of the key, their movements became noticeably sluggish, their once nimble figures now appearing clumsy and panicked.

During the breakout, one team member was accidentally scratched on the arm by the shadow's sharp claws while running. "Ah!" the team member screamed in pain, and his steps stumbled. Hearing the cry, Lin Yu was extremely anxious. He immediately turned around and, without hesitation, used the key light to force back the shadow that was about to attack again. He quickly helped the team member up, his eyes full of concern, and encouraged him: "Hold on, we will be out soon!" The team member gritted his teeth, endured the sharp pain in his arm, nodded, and continued to move forward with Lin Yu's support.

With their concerted efforts, they finally broke through the shadowy encirclement and reached a wall within the ice cave. However, the sight before them instantly chilled their newly ignited hope. The wall was as smooth as a mirror, as if carved from a single, massive block of ice. There was no room for climbing or digging, an impenetrable barrier that completely blocked their escape. Meanwhile, after a brief moment of confusion, the shadows regrouped, their figures looming in the smoke, like a horde of demons from hell, slowly advancing towards them, their deep roars a warning of their impasse.

"What should we do?" a team member asked anxiously, a hint of despair in his voice. Lin Yu looked at the approaching shadow, then at the smooth wall, his heart burning with anxiety, beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. Suddenly, he keenly noticed that the light from the key echoed with a faint reflection on the wall. Although the reflection was faint, it was particularly eye-catching in this dark environment. With an idea in mind, he hurriedly approached the wall for a closer look. When he got closer, he was surprised to find that the reflective area was engraved with some tiny runes. These runes had delicate lines and strange shapes, as if they contained some kind of mysterious power.

Lin Yu tried to recall the similar runes he had seen in the crystal disc's information stream, and a flash of inspiration struck him. He remembered that these runes seemed to be a kind of marker for unlocking a mechanism. With trepidation, he tried to insert the key into the spot where the rune should be. The moment the key touched the rune, the wall began to vibrate violently, emitting a dull roar, as if a giant beast, dormant for thousands of years, had suddenly awakened. Then, a secret door slowly appeared in the wall, and a faint light shone through it, like a glimmer of hope in the darkness.

"Hurry, get in!" Lin Yu shouted excitedly. The team members rushed into the secret door as if they had heard the horn of a charge. Just as the last team member entered, the secret door quickly closed with a heavy, muffled sound, as if controlled by some mysterious force, and ruthlessly blocked the shadows outside. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, as if they had snatched their lives back from the hands of death. However, when they looked closely, they found that behind the secret door was a narrow passage, filled with a faint mist. The mist exuded a mysterious and strange aura, as if telling them of unknown danger.
