The fog is confusing and dangerous
Lin Yu led the team members along the passage indicated by the key, moving forward cautiously as if walking on thin ice. The passage became narrower and narrower, as if the earth was deliberately squeezing them tightly, and everyone could only pass through sideways with difficulty. The cold walls were like hungry demons, greedily absorbing the heat from their bodies. The chill penetrated their skin into their bones, making them shiver. As the terrain continued to descend, the surrounding fog became thicker, like a huge gray curtain, covering everything, to the point where it was almost pitch dark. Lin Yu held the slightly warm and trembling key tightly, as if holding their only hope and guidance in this endless fog. He knew that at this moment, this key was their beacon in the darkness.
"Everyone, stay close. Don't get separated!" Lin Yu shouted at the top of his lungs. His voice echoed through the narrow passage, but was quickly swallowed up by the thick fog and vanished without a trace. The team members responded one after another, their voices tinged with barely concealed nervousness, but their trust in Lin Yu was as unwavering as steel. They pressed close together, groping forward through the pitch-black fog, relying on the faint sense of touch, each step filled with uncertainty and fear.
Suddenly, a team member walking in the middle of the team felt as if he had stepped on a layer of slippery ice. His body instantly lost balance and he slid rapidly downwards without control. "Ah!" The team member screamed in fear. The sound was sharp and shrill, and it echoed wildly in the passage, like a sharp blade, cutting through the suffocating silence. Lin Yu was startled, and his heart seemed to be tightly grasped by an invisible hand. He turned around without hesitation, and relying on instinct and concern for his teammates, he reached out to grab the team member. At this critical moment, fortunately, he reacted quickly and grabbed the team member's arm in time, and then used all his strength to pull him back.
"How are you? Are you okay?" Lin Yu asked anxiously, his voice trembling slightly with nervousness. The team member gasped for air, his voice trembling with fear, and replied, "I... I'm fine. I just slipped suddenly." Lin Yu frowned and sternly warned, "Everyone, be careful. The ground is too slippery. Make sure you step firmly with every step."
However, danger did not spare them. Just as everyone regained their composure and prepared to continue forward, a chilling, biting wind roared through the passage like a hungry wolf. Mixed with this gust of wind were waves of eerie growls, a voice that seemed to emanate from the depths of hell, brimming with an endless evil and gloom. The sound, as if possessed by magic, echoed throughout the passage, making it impossible to tell which way was going and from where danger might suddenly strike.
"What's that sound?" a team member asked tremblingly, unable to contain his inner fear any longer. His voice was filled with deep fear and uneasiness, as if he would be swallowed by this terrifying sound in the next second. Lin Yu gripped his weapon tightly. Although his palms were covered with sweat, his eyes remained firm. He tried to make his voice sound calm and composed: "Don't panic, stay alert, and follow my instructions." Although he pretended to be calm on the surface, he couldn't help but feel a chill in his heart. In the face of this unknown terror, no one can be truly fearless.
As the wind and roar grew louder, dark figures began to loom in the mist. These figures were distorted beyond recognition, resembling humans yet not humans, beasts yet not beasts. Their outlines loomed in the mist, like illusory ghosts, making it impossible to see them clearly. However, one could clearly sense a strong evil aura approaching like a tide, oppressing them and making it difficult to breathe.
"Prepare for battle!" Lin Yu shouted, holding the key high in the air. He hoped to use the key's faint light to clearly identify his enemies, while also hoping it would intimidate these mysterious and terrifying shadows. The key's light struggled to shine through the thick fog, barely illuminating a small area. In this faint glow, the shadows emerged more clearly before everyone's eyes. Their eyes gleamed an eerie red, like two burning will-o'-the-wisp flames, revealing an endless eeriness and evil. Their mouths were filled with sharp fangs, which gleamed coldly in the light, making their appearance extremely ferocious and terrifying, like demons crawling out of the abyss of hell.
A dark figure launched the first attack. Like a flash of black lightning, it pounced at the nearest team member with lightning speed. The team member felt only the shadow flash before his eyes, and then a powerful force rushed towards him. He quickly raised his weapon to block, but the shadow's strength was beyond imagination, knocking the team member back several steps and nearly falling to the ground. Seeing this, Lin Yu was extremely anxious. Without hesitation, he rushed forward, weapon raised high, and stabbed the shadow with force. The shadow seemed to sense danger and dodged Lin Yu's attack with a ghostly agility. Then, it extended its sharp claws, which were like daggers, flashing coldly in the darkness, and grabbed Lin Yu's throat fiercely. Lin Yu's heart tightened, and he dodged to the side. The sharp claws brushed his cheek, bringing a gust of cold wind and making him feel a stinging pain. At the same time, he used the force of his side body to kick the black shadow hard. The black shadow let out an angry roar, and the sound echoed in the passage, making people terrified.
The other team members also engaged in fierce battles with the black shadows. The black shadows were extremely fast, and their movements were strange and changeable, making it difficult to guard against them. Sometimes they pounced from the front, sometimes attacked from the side, and sometimes attacked from the back. When a team member was dodging the attack of the black shadow, because his attention was highly focused on the front, he accidentally bumped into the wall, lost his balance and fell to the ground. The black shadow seized this opportunity and pounced on it like a hungry wolf. Lin Yu was quick-eyed and quick-handed. At this critical moment, he quickly bent down, picked up a stone, and threw it hard at the black shadow. The stone hit the black shadow accurately, attracted its attention, and gave the team member a chance to struggle to get up.
