Chapter 358: A Humanoid Monster Appears, a Turn for the Better

A humanoid monster appears, a turning point in the desperate situation

As the mysterious humanoid creature approached with slow, ponderous steps, the passage seemed enveloped by an invisible, sinister force. The malevolent aura grew stronger, like materialized black smoke, pressing inward, suffocating them. Every breath felt like inhaling a handful of sharp, shattered glass, stinging their hearts and lungs. Lin Yu felt as if his heart were being gripped by an invisible hand, each beat accompanied by excruciating pain. But he knew, in this life-or-death moment, he must not panic; he must remain calm. He stared intently at the blurry black figure, becoming increasingly distinct in the dim light, his eyes aching as he tried to grasp even the slightest hint of useful information from the mysterious silhouette. The team members gathered tightly behind him, so close they could clearly hear each other's rapid, strained breathing, a sound like a string about to snap, filled with fear and anxiety.

"What the hell is this thing? Why does it feel even scarier than the giant spider we saw before?" One team member finally couldn't help but tremble in a low voice, his voice filled with fear and anxiety, the trembling tone like a dead leaf swaying in the wind. Lin Yu didn't respond. His mind, like a precision instrument working at high speed, frantically calculated a response. At this moment, his mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, various ideas and strategies constantly emerging and receding like a surging tide. He had to find the clue that would lead them out of this desperate situation in this chaotic thought.

Finally, the humanoid creature came to a stop in the passage. The faint, flickering blue light on the wall allowed them to barely make out its form. Its stature was astonishing, over three meters tall, a moving black fortress. Its body was covered in black scales that shone with a cold, metallic sheen, as if forged from the strongest steel. Each scale exuded a coldness and power that repelled all at a distance. Its head resembled a humanoid form, but it bore a pair of massive black horns, curved and sharp, as if capable of tearing through anything that stood in its way. Its eyes burned like two balls of intensely burning blood-red flame, emitting a bloodthirsty glint that seemed to penetrate the deepest fears of the people and scorch their very souls. Its hands were shaped like claws, each nail half a meter long, gleaming with a chilling light, like the scythe of the Grim Reaper, ready to reap life.

"Whatever it is, we can't just sit there and wait for death!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice filled with a desperate determination, trying to instill courage in himself and his teammates. He knew full well that in this hellish and hopeless situation, fear was like poison, only accelerating their demise. Only by mustering the courage to fight could they find a glimmer of hope in this darkness. His palms were already drenched with sweat, and his grip on the weapon was trembling slightly from the excessive force. But his eyes were unwavering, like the eternal stars in the night sky.

The humanoid, sensing the fearful yet resolute hostility of the group, attacked first. It flashed with ghostly speed, a shadowy presence before them, and instantly appeared before one of the soldiers. Its massive claws slashed with thunderous force into the soldier's chest. The soldier felt a suffocating pressure, like a mountain bearing down on him. With no time to evade, he closed his eyes in despair, awaiting his doom. In this crucial, life-or-death moment, the black panther suddenly leaped out like black lightning, biting the humanoid's arm with lightning-fast force. The humanoid roared in pain, a deafening roar that threatened to collapse the entire corridor. With a powerful swing of its arm, it flung the panther away like a straw. The black panther slammed heavily into the wall of the passage, groaned in pain, and slid down softly, leaving a shocking trail of blood on the wall.

"Black Panther!" Lin Yu's heart suddenly tightened, as if struck by a sharp arrow. He was extremely anxious and shouted to his teammates, "Everyone, attack together! We can't let it succeed!" Upon hearing this, the team members were filled with fear, but with Lin Yu's encouragement, they still summoned their courage and shouted as they rushed towards the humanoid creature, raining down all kinds of weapons on it. However, the humanoid creature's scales were incredibly hard. The team members swung their weapons with all their might, only to splash a string of sparks as brilliant as fireworks, but they couldn't leave even the slightest mark on the hard scales. It was as if they were not facing a living creature, but an indestructible steel fortress.

Seeing this, the humanoid creature roared with laughter. Its laughter echoed through the corridor, filled with mockery and disdain, like the mockery of a demon, stinging everyone's eardrums and hearts. It attacked again, its claws lashing wildly among the team members, instantly putting them in imminent danger. One team member, unable to dodge, was scratched on the arm by the claws. Blood gushed out like a fountain, splashing shockingly on the floor of the corridor. The stench of blood permeated the air, further fueling the humanoid creature's ferocity.

Lin Yu's heart was pounding, beads of sweat dripping down his forehead. His eyes were fixed on the humanoid. During the fierce battle, he had keenly noticed that although the humanoid was nearly invincible, it would make subtle movements before each attack. "Everyone, pay attention to its movements before attacking, and dodge in advance!" Lin Yu shouted at the top of his lungs, his voice hoarse with anxiety and effort.
