Chapter 361: Exploring the Ancient Castle, Dangers Abound

Explore the castle, full of dangers

Lin Yu and his companions slowly stepped into the scorching, desolate desert. The blazing sun hung high in the sky, like a blazing fireball, mercilessly scorching the earth. The fine sand beneath their feet felt as hot as if smelted by a furnace fire. With every step, the scorching heat penetrated the soles of their shoes, pricking their feet like needles, threatening to burn them. In the distance, the ancient castle loomed in the swirling sand, like a long-dormant beast, exuding a mysterious and dangerous aura, as if silently watching and waiting for these uninvited guests with a cold gaze.

"This castle looks strange. Everyone, be careful." Lin Yu tightened his slightly worn gear and lowered his voice, solemnly admonishing the team. His eyes, sharp as an eagle, were fixed on the castle, his gaze revealing deep vigilance and unwavering determination. The team members nodded subconsciously, their hands unconsciously clenching their weapons, their knuckles white from the exertion, their faces filled with solemnity and tension. After a long journey through countless hardships and dangers, they knew full well that this castle was a vast mystery, hiding countless unknown dangers within, and every step could mean a life-or-death struggle.

As they approached the castle, the atmosphere grew increasingly eerie. A howling wind whipped through the age-worn ruins, emitting a chilling sound like the howling of ghosts and wolves, as if the countless souls imprisoned within were wailing in grief, or perhaps a sinister warning from a hidden evil force within the darkness. The castle gate stood ajar, resembling the slightly gaping mouth of a great beast, its doors engraved with strange, twisted symbols and patterns. These symbols, with their bizarre shapes, resembled ancient, mystical incantations or the record of some sinister ritual. Each line seemed to hold an invisible power, telling a story of ancient evil that left a chilling impression.

Lin Yu slowly reached out his hand, his palm slightly sweaty from nervousness, and gently placed it on the heavy door. After taking a deep breath, he pushed hard. With a sharp creak, the hinges creaked, echoing through the near-deathly silent castle. The sound was like a sharp knife slicing through the stillness of the night, awakening a demon long dormant in the darkness. Behind the door, a dark and deep corridor appeared before them. The hallway was filled with a pungent, decaying smell, as if time had stood still and all life had rotted away. Several tattered portraits hung on the walls. The figures in the portraits were hideous, their features distorted beyond recognition. Their hollow eyes stared straight ahead, as if coldly observing their every move, making them feel uneasy.

"These portraits look so eerie. It feels like their eyes are following us," one team member whispered, his voice trembling slightly with fear, standing out in the silent corridor. A chill welled up in Lin Yu's heart, but he knew he couldn't lose his composure at this moment. So he patted the team member on the shoulder and said in a calm and soothing tone, "Don't scare yourself. Let's keep going." However, he also felt a faint sense of unease, as if a pair of eyes were watching them from the darkness.

They advanced cautiously along the corridor, taking every step with extreme caution, their ears constantly alert to the surroundings. Suddenly, the view ahead opened up, revealing a vast, empty hall. A faint mist filled the hall, making the entire space seem even more eerie and mysterious. In the center of the hall stood a massive sarcophagus, crafted from a dark stone, its surface engraved with mysterious and intricate runes. These runes flickered faintly, as if beating with an eerie pulse. The coffin lid opened slightly, revealing a faint green light, indescribably eerie, as if emanating from another world.

"What's in this sarcophagus?" a team member asked curiously. Although his voice was small, it was clearly audible in the silent hall. Before Lin Yu could answer, a low and dull roar suddenly came from the sarcophagus, as if it was a roar coming from the abyss of hell, shaking the ground slightly. Then, a huge monster slowly stood up from the sarcophagus. The monster was covered with a layer of hard black scales, which shimmered with an eerie luster under the reflection of the dark green light. Its head was similar to that of a lizard, but it was several times larger than an ordinary lizard. On its triangular head, a pair of eyes flashed with a blood-red light, which was filled with bloodthirsty desire and endless cruelty. Behind it grew a pair of huge bat wings, which were several meters long when spread out and were covered with black veins, like the wings of a demon.

"It's the guardian beast! Everyone be careful!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice echoing in the hall. He quickly drew his weapon, and the blade flashed coldly in the dim light. Upon hearing the shout, the team members immediately fanned out, surrounding the monster in the middle. Everyone's eyes were full of vigilance and tension, and they held their weapons tightly in their hands, ready to meet the monster's attack at any time. The monster seemed to sense the hostility of the crowd, opened its bloody mouth, and let out a deafening roar. With this roar, a black smoke gushed out of its mouth, like a black tide, sweeping towards the team members. The smoke exuded a pungent stench that made people want to vomit.

"Hold your breath! This smoke is poisonous!" Lin Yu shouted. The team members reacted quickly, covering their mouths and noses, trying to resist the invasion of the smoke. However, one team member was a little slow and accidentally inhaled some smoke. In an instant, his face turned ashen, like a leaf hit by frost. His body began to sway uncontrollably, his hands tightly clutching his throat, and he gasped in pain.
