Chapter 363: Extreme Cold Breaks the Ice, Thunder Palace Seeks the Marrow

Breaking the Ice in Extreme Cold, Seeking the Marrow in the Thunder Palace

Lin Yu and his teammates huddled on the edge of the freezing abyss. The biting cold, like countless sharp ice needles, mercilessly penetrated every crack in their clothing and drilled straight into their bones, as if to completely freeze their bodies and even their souls. The team members couldn't help but wrap themselves tightly in clothes, but this meager protection was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot in the face of the biting cold. It was still unable to resist the chill that penetrated deep into their bones.

"It's too cold! I feel like my blood is freezing." One team member's teeth chattered uncontrollably as he managed to utter these words, his voice filled with pain and helplessness. Lin Yu's brows knitted together, forming a deep "chuan" character. He knew that such low temperatures would undoubtedly be a severe test of life and death for them. If they couldn't find the ice core quickly and escape this hellish place, they would all likely freeze to death here, becoming ice sculptures in this icy world.

"Everyone, hold on a little longer. Let's find a way down along the edge of the abyss." Lin Yu said. Although his voice trembled slightly due to the cold, his tone was full of unquestionable firmness, as if he was injecting a shot of adrenaline into the team members.

In this icy and snowy landscape, the group cautiously advanced along the edge of the abyss. The ground beneath their feet was already covered in a thick layer of ice, making it slippery. Every step required great effort and caution, fearing that a single careless step would cause them to stumble into the bottomless abyss. The cold wind roared like a roaring beast, reverberating relentlessly through the abyss, emitting a chilling sound like the howling of ghosts and wolves. It seemed as if countless wronged souls were trapped within, struggling and wailing in despair, sending a chill down their spines.

Suddenly, one of the team members slipped and slid toward the edge of the abyss like a kite with its string cut. His eyes widened in terror, and he instinctively reached out and flailed his hands wildly, trying to grab anything that might save his life. A desperate cry escaped his lips, "Help me!" The team member next to him reacted quickly, his eyes and hands swift as a bolt of lightning. He rushed forward, grabbed his arm with all his strength, and then, gritting his teeth, pulled him back with all his might.

"Be careful, everyone, stay together and look after each other," Lin Yu shouted. His heart was pounding so hard from the thrilling scene that it felt like it was about to burst out of his throat. His palms were already covered in sweat, but were instantly frozen by the cold.

After a painstaking search, they finally discovered a narrow ice ladder, winding down the cliffs of the abyss like a winding white snake, leading to the unknown bottom. The ladder was steep and smooth, like a giant ice mirror, with no protective measures around it, and looked precarious. Lin Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm his nervously pounding heart. He said, "Everyone, hold on to the ice ladder and descend slowly." His eyes revealed a hint of worry, but more of a determination, conveying an invisible strength to the team members.

The team members carefully descended the ice ladder, each step fraught with danger, as if they were walking on the brink of life and death. The ice ladder creaked under their feet, as if it could break at any moment, hurling them mercilessly into the abyss. Each crack was like a hammer, hammering at their hearts and keeping their nerves on edge.

After an indefinite period, seemingly a century, they finally reached the bottom of the abyss. The fog here was even thicker, like a vast gray curtain, shrouding everything. Visibility was extremely low, and only a vague outline could be seen not far ahead. The entire space was filled with a gloomy atmosphere, as if one had entered a secluded, ghostly den.

"It feels eerie in here, like something's watching us," a team member whispered, his voice trembling slightly with fear, standing out in the silence. Lin Yu quickly signaled for silence, pricked up his ears, and listened carefully to the sounds around him. However, aside from his own and his teammates' slightly rapid breathing due to nervousness, he could hear nothing. But he could sense an invisible pressure coming from all sides, as if countless pairs of eyes were hidden in the thick fog, watching their every move.

At that moment, a vast icy lake suddenly appeared ahead. Its surface, smooth as a mirror, shimmered with an eerie luster in the dim light, like a giant magic mirror, capable of piercing their inner fears. In the center of the lake stood an ice sculpture, shaped like a phoenix, wings spread, poised for flight. It was so lifelike, as if it would burst through the ice and soar into the sky at any moment. And atop the phoenix's head, a crystal radiated a faint blue light, a glow like the faint glow of the deep sea, mysterious and alluring. It was the ice core they had so painstakingly sought.

However, as they cautiously approached the icy lake, the tranquil surface suddenly cracked without warning. Vast cracks, like the mouth of a ferocious beast, rapidly spread across the ice. Immediately afterwards, ice wolves emerged from the cracks, emitting an icy aura, as if they were ghosts formed from the frozen ice. Their eyes gleamed with a faint green light, like will-o'-the-wisp fire, revealing an endlessly eerie and ferocious presence. They roared low and fiercely at the crowd, baring their sharp fangs. Those fangs gleamed coldly in the dim light, as if they could easily tear apart any prey.

"Looks like we need to deal with these ice wolves first," Lin Yu said. He gripped his weapon tightly, his knuckles turning white from the effort. His eyes revealed determination and vigilance, ready for battle at any moment. The team members quickly assumed combat stances. Though their eyes held fear, they also showed trust in each other and a determination to fight together.
