Chapter 366: Subway Hidden

Subway Shadow

Lin Yu had just emerged from his last thrilling adventure, his body clenched with fatigue like a heavy yoke, his mind still grappling with the intense tension. However, a new mission, like an unexpected storm, swept him into the thick of it all. This time, the mission took place in a subway station nestled beneath a bustling city, a gloomy, serene chamber resembling the belly of a monstrous beast. Lately, a chilling rumor had spread: every night, a shadowy figure would silently stalk the subway, seeking its fate. Those targeted by this figure would mysteriously vanish, their fate unknown, as if they had vanished from the face of the earth. This strange phenomenon had cast a pall over the city, causing widespread panic. Lin Yu and his team were the brave men tasked with uncovering the mystery and uncovering the truth.

As night fell like a vast sheet of black silk, tightly enveloping the city, Lin Yu and his companions arrived at the subway station, which exuded a slightly eerie atmosphere. The lights at the entrance flickered like a dying life, flickering on and off, as if making a final struggle, ready to be completely swallowed by darkness at any moment, giving people a precarious and uneasy feeling. A pungent, damp, and moldy smell permeated the subway station, as if it were a corner forgotten by time, where everything was gradually decaying under the erosion of time. The walls were covered with mottled water stains, which took various shapes, some resembling distorted human faces, others like ferocious monsters, as if they were eerie paintings left by the invisible hand of time.

"This place feels eerie and really makes me uncomfortable," one team member couldn't help but frown and mutter. The sound seemed particularly abrupt in the silent space, as if disturbing some mysterious being sleeping in the darkness. Lin Yu didn't respond. His eyes were as sharp as an eagle, scanning every corner in the dim environment, trying to catch any trace of abnormality. At this moment, the subway station was empty and deathly silent. Only their footsteps echoed in the empty hall, making a monotonous and dull "clack". Each sound seemed to knock on everyone's heart, adding a bit of eerie atmosphere, as if they were stepping step by step into an unknown and terrifying abyss.

They slowly walked along the corridor toward the platform. The lights on the platform were as dim as the eyes of an elderly person, barely illuminating a small area. The rest was shrouded in darkness. Suddenly, a chilling wind blew, carrying a biting chill, as if the breath of death blew from the depths of hell, piercing their clothes and piercing their bones. "Everyone, be careful. Something seems to be nearby." Lin Yu gripped his weapon warily. The weapon gleamed coldly in the dim light, just like his stern expression. He lowered his voice and cautiously reminded the team, a subtle hint of nervousness in his tone.

At that moment, a dark figure flashed from the depths of the tunnel like a ghost. Its speed was so fast, like a flash of black lightning streaking through the night sky, that one could almost mistake it for an illusion. "What was that?" one team member cried out in terror, his voice distorted by fear, shrill as the wail of a night owl. Lin Yu's expression was solemn, his eyes instantly locked onto the direction the shadow had disappeared. He decisively declared, "Chase!" Without hesitation, they pursued in the direction the shadow had disappeared, stepping resolutely into the inky black tunnel.

The tunnel was pitch dark, like an endless black hole that was about to swallow up all their light and hope. The air was filled with a pungent smell of rust, mixed with a damp smell that made people want to vomit. Lin Yu turned on the flashlight, and the weak light flickered in the darkness, like a candle in the wind, illuminating only a small, narrow section of the road ahead. The surrounding darkness seemed to have a life of its own, constantly squeezing out this weak light. They moved forward cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution, for fear of disturbing the unknown fear hidden in the darkness. From time to time, strange sounds came to their ears, like someone crying softly, the sound was mournful and desolate, as if the wronged souls of the missing were wailing; it was also like a heavy sigh, full of helplessness and despair, which made people shudder.

"That sound gives me the creeps," a team member said in a trembling voice, his body trembling slightly, and the weapon in his hand shook slightly. Lin Yu comforted him, "Don't be afraid, stay alert." In fact, he himself was a little scared, but as the team leader, he had to remain calm and instill confidence in his team members. Suddenly, the flashlight illuminated a blurry figure. It had its back to them and stood quietly in the center of the tunnel. The figure could not be seen clearly, but a strong chill could be felt, as if it were a moving iceberg.

"Who are you?" Lin Yu asked loudly, his voice echoing through the tunnel, a series of echoes, as if countless voices were questioning him simultaneously. The figure slowly turned, his movements slow and stiff, like a puppet being manipulated. A face as pale as paper appeared before everyone, his eyes empty and lifeless, like two deep black holes that could suck a person's soul in; his lips were bloodless and cracked like a dry riverbed. Before they could react, the black shadow suddenly pounced on them, with an extremely fast speed, like a black whirlwind, and was in front of them in an instant.

Lin Yu reacted quickly. With years of adventuring experience and agility, he subconsciously raised his weapon to block. The black shadow was extremely powerful, like a galloping buffalo, crashing into his weapon, knocking him back a few steps and sending a sharp pain through his arm. Seeing this, the team members gathered around, surrounding the black shadow and engaging in a thrilling fight with it. The black shadow was as agile as a ghost, moving freely among them, and occasionally extending its sharp claws like blades to attack. One team member was unable to dodge and was scratched on the arm by the claws. Blood gushed out immediately, looking particularly dazzling in the darkness, and a strong smell of blood instantly filled the air.
