Chapter 368: Misty Abyss: The Return of the Unknown Shadow

Mist of the Abyss: Return of the Unknown Shadow

After a desperate battle with the shadowy figure, Lin Yu and his team collapsed in exhaustion in the tunnel. A sickening, rancid stench permeated the tunnel, mingling with the stench of their own blood, making the air even heavier. The bright light gradually dimmed as the shadow dissipated, leaving only the symbols on the wall radiating a faint, mysterious glow, as if revealing an unknown secret.

Lin Yu struggled to his feet, looking at his equally exhausted teammates with a mixture of emotions. His gaze swept across faces covered in sweat and blood, each one etched with the fear and confusion of surviving a catastrophe. "Is everyone okay?" His voice was hoarse and weak, as if honed by sandpaper. Every word was laced with deep fatigue, yet it revealed genuine concern for his teammates.

The team members nodded, their movements slow and stiff, as if their bodies no longer belonged to them. But the fear and confusion of surviving the disaster were evident in everyone's eyes. Li Qiang, the normally carefree and robust man, had a trembling lip and stared blankly ahead, seemingly still lost in the horror of the scene.

"Captain, what's going on? What are these symbols and shadows?" Zhao Gang asked in a trembling voice, his eyes filled with confusion and unease, as if the horror he'd just experienced could happen again at any moment. He gripped his weapon tightly, his knuckles white from the strain, as if grasping at a last straw.

Lin Yu's brow furrowed, the wrinkles on his forehead as deep as ravines. He pondered for a moment, his mind a tangled mess of speculations and questions. "I'm not sure, but one thing is certain: these symbols and shadows didn't appear by chance. There must be a huge conspiracy behind them." His gaze fell on the symbols again, his eyes revealing determination and perseverance. "We must figure this out, otherwise, more dangers will come."

After a short rest, the team members forced themselves to focus, dragging their heavy steps, and began to carefully study the symbols on the wall. Lin Yu leaned in close, squinting his eyes, trying to find clues from their subtle changes. He discovered that after the shadows disappeared, the symbols' arrangement seemed to have shifted subtly, and the previously obscure lines seemed to have taken on a new pattern. A sense of foreboding welled up in him, thinking this might be a sign of impending danger. The symbols seemed to come alive, flickering with light like a silent warning.

"Everyone, be careful! These symbols seem to be changing. We don't know what's going to happen next," Lin Yu said, signaling the team members to return to a defensive stance. His voice, though deliberately low, was remarkably clear in the silent tunnel, a hint of nervousness emanating from it. The team members immediately tensed, gripping their weapons tightly and observing their surroundings warily. Everyone's nerves were on edge, like an arrow about to be released from a bowstring. The air was thick with a tense atmosphere that was about to explode.

At that moment, a low rumbling sound emanated from deep within the tunnel, as if the earth were trembling, or some slumbering beast awakening. The sound grew louder and louder, shaking the tunnel walls and sending dust cascading down. The dust fluttered down like the ashes of the end of the world, blurring everyone's vision. Lin Yu, feeling a sense of foreboding, shouted, "Prepare for battle! No matter what comes, we will face it together!" His voice was firm and powerful, trying to instill courage in the team members, but it seemed insignificant amid the deafening roar.

As the roar approached, a massive black mist rolled in from the depths of the tunnel. A strange red light flickered faintly within the mist, as if countless pairs of eyes were watching them from the darkness. Wherever the mist passed, the temperature plummeted. The team members shuddered, a chill that penetrated their bones. It was like countless icy needles, piercing through the cracks in their clothes, piercing their skin and reaching their very bones.

"What...what is this?" Li Qiang exclaimed in horror, his voice trembling. His eyes were filled with fear, and the weapon in his hand shook slightly with nervousness. His eyes were wide, fixed on the black mist, as if the terrifying thing would pounce upon him in the blink of an eye.

"Don't panic! Maintain formation!" Lin Yu shouted, trying to calm his teammates. But he, too, was filled with worry. Facing this unknown and terrifying existence, no one knew what would happen next. His heartbeat raced, pounding wildly in his chest, as if it was about to burst. But he knew that as captain, he had to remain calm and set an example for his teammates.

The black fog quickly approached them and enveloped them in an instant. In the fog, the team members could only see each other's blurry figures, and a suffocating and oppressive atmosphere filled the air. The fog was as thick as ink.
