Chapter 369: The Foggy Abyss: The Return of the Unknown Shadow (Continued)

Mist of the Abyss: Return of the Unknown Shadow (Continued)

In that thick, inky black fog, countless eyes seemed to be watching, and every movement of the mist carried an indescribable strangeness. Lin Yu felt his heart beating violently, as if gripped by an invisible hand. He gripped the sword tightly, its blade gleaming with a faint cold light, swaying in the mist, as if it would be swallowed by the darkness at any moment.

Before his eyes, a huge black shadow loomed, like a mysterious and evil black mountain. Only those huge red eyes, like two burning evil fires, emitting a bloodthirsty light, locked tightly on Lin Yu, making his hair stand on end, and a chill that penetrated deep into his bones rushed from the soles of his feet straight into his heart.

"You're finally here..." A deep, raspy voice slowly emanated from the shadowy mouth. It seemed to emanate from the depths of Hell, each word akin to a sharp ice knife slicing across Lin Yu's eardrums, bringing waves of stinging pain and terror. Lin Yu felt as if he'd been thrown into an ice cellar, his blood nearly freezing. But he fought back the overwhelming fear within him, summoning his courage and shouting, "Who are you? Why are you attacking us?" His voice trembled and echoed through the eerie mist, a barely perceptible tremor.

The shadowy figure let out a sinister laugh, a chorus of wail, like the wailing of countless wronged souls, swirling and reverberating through the mist, threatening to shatter even the most mortal soul. "It doesn't matter who I am. You shouldn't have entered this forbidden area. Your arrival has disrupted our plans..." The voice seemed to come from all directions simultaneously, making it impossible to discern the direction. It was as if countless evil eyes were watching closely, their every move controlled.

Lin Yu's heart trembled, fear surging like a tide. However, his will to survive and his obsession with the truth forced him to suppress his fear, his mind racing in a state of extreme tension. "You? Who else? What is your plot?" He knew he had to extract more information from the shadow to find any hope of survival. "What's your plan? What does all this have to do with those mysterious symbols?" Lin Yu pressed on, his voice tinged with urgency, trying to find clues to his current predicament from the shadow's fragments.

The shadow didn't seem to intend to answer his question. Suddenly, its huge claws grabbed Lin Yu fiercely. The claws cut through the mist, emitting a sharp whistling sound, like the scream of a ghost, which was creepy. The sharp claw tips flashed with a cold light, as if they could easily tear apart everything in the world. Lin Yu only felt a flash of cold light in front of his eyes, and instinctively dodged sideways, while swinging his sword to cut at the claws. With a loud "clang", the sword and claws collided, splashing a string of dazzling sparks. The powerful recoil force was like a turbulent undercurrent, quickly spreading along the sword body to Lin Yu's arm, shaking his arm numbly, and the sword in his hand almost flew out.

Lin Yu knew he couldn't just sit there and wait for death. Taking advantage of the gap between the shadow's attacks, he suddenly leaped forward, like a nimble black panther, stabbing at the shadow's eyes. The shadow seemed surprised that Lin Yu would dare to attack, and was slightly startled, but quickly reacted, turning his head to avoid the fatal blow. Lin Yu's attack missed, and his body lost balance in the air. The shadow took the opportunity to swing its other claw, grabbing Lin Yu's back. The sound of the wind from the claw was like the call of death, and Lin Yu's heart instantly rose to his throat.

At the critical moment, Lin Yu felt a strong wind behind him, as if his heart was being tightly grasped by an invisible giant hand. He twisted his body with all his strength, and the sharp claws scraped across his clothes, tearing a long hole. The cold wind instantly rushed in, and he couldn't help shivering. After Lin Yu landed, he staggered and almost fell. He quickly adjusted his posture and confronted the black shadow again. At this time, his forehead was covered with sweat, and beads of sweat slid down his cheeks. His heart was beating like a drum, but his eyes were full of incomparable determination, as if declaring to the black shadow that he would never give in.

Outside the mist, the team members were fighting fiercely with those black claws that kept extending. Zhao Gang brandished his long knife, and every slash was filled with anger and fear. "These damn claws, why are they endless!" He roared, his voice sounding particularly loud in this tense atmosphere. The blade chopped on the claws, making a dull sound, but only leaving a shallow mark. Zhao Gang's face was full of ferocity, and his eyes were burning with anger. He swung the long knife again and again, trying to cut off these evil claws, and kept thinking in his heart: "I can't fall here, I must protect everyone!"

Li Qiang held a heavy axe, each swing carrying immense force. "I don't believe I can't chop you down!" He gritted his teeth, his cheek muscles bulging as he swung the axe with all his might at one of the claws.
