Chapter 37: Survival from a Desperate Situation

Survival in the Brink of Despair

Just as the monster's claws were about to strike again, their sharp claws flashing coldly in the darkness, carrying a deadly threat, Lao Chen turned abruptly, his eyes revealing determination and courage, and fired several shots at the monster.

"Bang bang bang!" The gunshots echoed in the cave, deafening.

"Leave me!" Old Chen shouted, his voice hoarse from the strain and exertion. He had only one thought in mind: to buy more time for Lin Yu and Suna, even at the cost of his own life. "I'll hold it back, you guys leave!" He fired, silently praying for their safe escape.

Lin Yu anxiously shouted, "No, we have to go together!" His eyes were filled with determination and reluctance. How could he abandon Lao Chen to face this terrifying monster alone? They were teammates who had been through life and death together, partners who could trust each other's backs. "Lao Chen, we won't abandon you!" Lin Yu's heart was filled with conflict and pain. He knew that staying would mean the death of everyone, but he couldn't bring himself to abandon Lao Chen.

Suna cried out, "Old Chen, we won't abandon you!" Her voice was filled with tears, tears welling in her eyes. She was filled with fear and helplessness, but she didn't want to abandon her teammates. "We can escape together!" She kept cheering herself up, her hands tightly gripping the magic props, ready to support Old Chen at any time.

As Old Chen fired back at the monster, he shouted, "Don't dawdle! Move!" Veins popped on his forehead, and sweat poured down like rain. With every shot, he felt the monster's might and his own insignificance, but he didn't flinch. "This is my mission. You must survive!" His heart was filled with tragic determination, as if he were ready to sacrifice himself.

Lin Yu and Suna knew they couldn't hesitate any longer. They gritted their teeth, tears welling in their eyes, turned around and walked around the boulder, continuing to rush towards the cave entrance. Their steps stumbled, their hearts pounding like drums, and every step was filled with fear and reluctance.

Just as they were about to reach the cave entrance, they found it was blocked by a huge rock. The rock was like a hill, ruthlessly blocking their way.

"What should I do?" Suna cried desperately, her voice sounding especially pitiful in the silent cave. Her legs gave way, and she collapsed to the ground, her eyes filled with despair and helplessness. "Are we really going to die here?" Her heart was filled with fear and resentment. A better life, unfulfilled dreams, everything seemed out of reach at this moment.

Lin Yu quickly surveyed his surroundings, his eyes anxious and determined. The darkness within the cave seemed to engulf them, and the humid air made it difficult for him to breathe, but he tried to remain calm. He spotted some protruding rocks on the cave wall, suggesting he might be able to climb to the roof.

"Suna, don't cry. We still have a chance. Climb up with me!" Lin Yu encouraged. His voice was trembling, but full of strength. He reached out and pulled Suna up, trying to give her some courage and hope. "As long as we don't give up, we will definitely find a way out!" His heart was also filled with fear, but he knew that at this time, he had to be strong.

At this point, Lao Chen's strength was gradually wearing out. His breathing became rapid, and each shot seemed particularly laborious. The monster's attacks became more and more fierce, and its roars were deafening, as if mocking Lao Chen's inability to resist.

"I can't hold on any longer! You must get out alive!" Old Chen shouted, his voice filled with exhaustion and helplessness. His body was covered in wounds, blood staining his clothes, but he stubbornly resisted the monster's attacks. "Don't let my sacrifice be in vain!" His eyes gradually blurred, but his heart was still filled with concern for his teammates.

Lin Yu and Suna felt a wave of grief when they heard Lao Chen's voice. They couldn't help but burst into tears, but they knew they couldn't give up.

They struggled to climb up the rocks. The rocks were sharp and wet, and every move threatened to cut their palms, but they no longer cared. The monster had noticed their intentions and pounced in their direction. Its figure loomed large in the darkness, like a moving mountain.

At this critical moment, Lin Yu discovered a narrow gap in the top of the cave, through which a faint light shone.

"Suna, hurry up and get in!" Lin Yu pushed Suna, his voice anxious and nervous.

Suna didn't hesitate at all. She used all her strength to get into the gap.

Lin Yu followed closely behind, his body moving with difficulty in the gap, praying in his heart that the gap would not close suddenly.

They finally escaped from the cave, and the sunlight shone on them, making them feel warm and comforted, but their hearts were filled with worry and sadness.

"Old Chen..." Lin Yu stared at the cave entrance, tears streaming down his face. His voice was filled with guilt and pain. He hated himself for not being able to bring Old Chen out with him. "This is all my fault. If I were stronger..." He clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging deep into his palms.

Suna was also sobbing, her body shaking. "Old Chen, he'll be fine, absolutely..." She prayed silently in her heart, hoping for a miracle to happen.

Suddenly, they heard a faint cough.

"It's Lao Chen!" Lin Yu exclaimed in surprise, his voice full of hope and excitement. His eyes lit up instantly, as if he saw a ray of light in the darkness.

They quickly followed the sound and found Lao Chen lying in the grass not far away, his body covered with wounds. His clothes were tattered and his blood had stained the surrounding grass red.

"Old Chen, you're still alive, that's great!" Lin Yu and Suna ran over excitedly, their voices filled with joy and relief.

Old Chen smiled weakly, "I'm lucky. I won't die." His voice was weak and hoarse, but full of life. His eyes revealed a hint of fatigue, but more of the joy of surviving the disaster.

The three of them embraced and cried, their hearts filled with joy at having survived. Their tears mingled, sparkling in the sunlight. In that moment, all their fear, pain, and despair transformed into endless gratitude and cherishment.

"We survived, we really survived..." Lin Yu murmured to himself, his voice full of emotion and relief.

Suna kept sobbing: "This is a miracle. It must be God blessing us."

Old Chen took a deep breath and said, "Okay, stop crying. We are lucky to be alive. There will be more challenges waiting for us in the future."

The sun shines on them, as if cheering for their victory...
