Chapter 383: The Drowning Mystery (Part 2)

749 Bureau: Drowning Mystery (Part 2)

As the faint, ghostly sound of running water grew clearer, it felt as if invisible, cold hands were slowly drawing back the curtain of terror. Water stains spread across the living room floor like greedy tentacles, and in the blink of an eye, the entire living room was "flooded." Yet, this water held an indescribable eeriness. Though they were clearly standing in the "water," their feet remained firmly planted on dry ground, as if the surging waters before them were merely a fleeting, yet all-too-real nightmare.

Xiao Zhao's eyes widened in shock, his mouth unconsciously opened slightly, and he screamed in disbelief: "What on earth is going on? How can water appear out of thin air? And we are not soaked at all, this... this is too weird!" Lin Yu's expression was as serious as steel, and his eyes were firm as he shouted loudly: "Everyone, don't panic! This is most likely an illusion deliberately created by the murderer, or some supernatural phenomenon at work. We must remain calm, only in this way can we find a solution. The more critical the moment, the more we must remain calm!"

At that moment, a blurry figure slowly emerged from the water. At first, it resembled a distorted, illusory reflection, but as the water stain spread, it gradually became clearer. The figure was clad in a long, thick, black robe, completely enveloping him like night. The hems of the robe fluttered slightly on invisible currents, like the wings of a demon lurking in the darkness.

The black-robed figure's head was deeply obscured by a hood, his face shrouded in shadows. Only a pair of eyes could be vaguely seen, gleaming with a faint green light, like two will-o'-the-wisp flames flickering in the darkness, exuding an endless eeriness and evil. His figure was tall and slender, like a silent black tower, emanating a chilling aura. From him emanated a stench of decay and dampness, like something long submerged in a sewer, a scent that made one nauseated.

The black-robed figure let out a sinister laugh, a laugh like countless sharp icicles, piercing everyone's eardrums and sending goosebumps all over their bodies. "You ignorant, nosy fellows, how dare you rashly interfere in my affairs? Today is your death! You will all pay a terrible price for your ignorance!" The black-robed figure's voice was deep and hoarse, like a curse emanating from the depths of hell, each syllable carrying a chilling magic.

Lin Yu listened to the black-robed man's threats, a surge of uncontrollable rage and unwavering determination welling up within him. "We are members of Bureau 749, charged with the sacred mission of handling supernatural events and safeguarding world peace. How could we be intimidated by such evil forces as you? No matter what schemes you harbor, we will crush them completely!" Lin Yu shouted back, his voice resolute and powerful, echoing through the living room like a bell, attempting to break through the suffocating atmosphere of fear.

Old Chen nodded solemnly, his eyes revealing determination and resolve. "That's right, you evil creature! Today is your end! Your evil deeds end here!" Old Chen shouted, waving the talisman in his hand. The talisman trembled slightly in his hand, emitting a faint light, as if responding to its owner's anger and determination.

Xiao Zhao gripped his weapon tightly, his knuckles white from exertion, his eyes burning with fury. "Come on! I want to see what you're capable of! Don't think you can scare us!" Xiao Zhao shouted. Though a flicker of fear welled up in his heart, his courage and sense of justice, like a raging fire, kept him from flinching, resolutely facing the evil before him.

Professor Li stood still, his brow furrowed in a deep frown. He tried to maintain composure, his mind racing like a machine. "The appearance of this black-robed figure and the spread of the water seem to be closely connected. We must quickly identify the key link. Perhaps only then can we successfully break his evil spell." Professor Li muttered to himself, intently observing every change in his surroundings, trying to find subtle clues to solve his dilemma.

At that moment, the black-robed figure waved his hands with a ghostly swift movement, a movement that seemed to orchestrate a dark, sinister symphony. Instantly, massive waves rose from the water, more than two men tall. Like ferocious and brutal beasts, they surged towards the crowd with overwhelming force. Wherever the waves passed, the air seemed to be mercilessly torn apart by sharp blades, emitting a piercing whistle, as if wailing at the encroaching darkness.

Lin Yu reacted quickly and shouted at the top of his lungs: "Everyone, scatter and hide! Don't get hit by the waves! Find cover!" Upon hearing this, everyone used their agility to look for shelter in the small but dangerous living room.

Like a flash of black lightning, Old Chen quickly hid behind a sturdy table. He clutched the talisman tightly in his hand, silently praying for its powerful force. "I hope these talismans can ward off this evil attack and help us survive this disaster safely," Old Chen muttered silently, his eyes revealing a hint of nervousness, but more of an unwavering faith.

Xiao Zhao leaped like a swallow, landing behind the sofa. He gripped his weapon tightly, his eyes fixed on the approaching waves, a glint of excitement and nervousness mingling in his eyes. "Come on, I'm not afraid of you! No matter what kind of monster you are, I'll fight you to the end!" Xiao Zhao mentally encouraged himself, trying to dispel the fear within him with words.

Lin Yu and Professor Li each relied on their keen observation to find a relatively safe position. Lin Yu watched the surging waves, his mind racing with thoughts of a response. "These waves are coming with such force, we can't just sit there and wait for death. We must take the initiative, but first, we must find the black-robed man's weakness. He's so arrogant, he must be confident, but everything in this world has a flaw, and I'm not sure we can't find his weak spot." Lin Yu vowed silently, his eyes revealing a firm determination.
