749 Bureau: Drowning Mystery (Part 2)
The situation in the living room intensified during the fierce standoff with the black-robed figure. Injured by Xiao Zhao's attack, his screams echoed through the room, filled with pain and rage, like the roar of a wounded beast, chilling the very heart. His black blood dripped onto the receding water, instantly staining the surrounding water an eerie inky hue, as if the black liquid carried some sinister curse, slowly corroding everything around it.
Xiao Zhao's strike was successful, and a mixture of excitement and nervousness welled up within him. Excitement at having successfully inflicted damage on the black-robed figure, but nervousness stemmed from the knowledge that he wouldn't give up easily, and a fiercer confrontation was imminent. "I did it! But I can't let my guard down. This guy is sure to strike back," Xiao Zhao reminded himself, gripping his weapon tightly with both hands and keeping his eyes fixed on the black-robed figure, ready to respond to his next attack.
Lin Yu was delighted to see the black-robed man injured, but then his guard returned. He knew that if he dared to commit such a crime in front of them, he must be incredibly powerful and have a back-up plan. "Everyone, stay calm. Don't let your guard down. He's sure to have other tricks up his sleeve. We must seize this opportunity and completely subdue him!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice firm and powerful, echoing through the living room like a bell, giving his teammates a shot in the arm.
Old Chen held the talisman in hand, his eyes fixed intently on the black-robed figure, pondering the flaws in his magic. "This black-robed figure's magic is quite uncanny. While the talisman just now didn't hurt him, perhaps I could find another breakthrough point," Old Chen pondered as he silently adjusted his breathing, ready to launch another attack at any moment.
Professor Li stood by, his mind racing, his eyes fixed on the black-robed figure's every move, trying to discern the key to breaking his spell from his reaction to the injury. "His injury seems to have affected the stability of his spell. We must exploit this opportunity and find a way to completely destroy it," Professor Li muttered to himself, beads of sweat forming on his forehead, a testament to his intense concentration.
The black-robed figure glared at Xiao Zhao, his eyes burning with hatred. "How dare you hurt me, brat! I'll make you pay dearly!" he roared, his voice thick with rage and murderous intent. He ignored the wound on his shoulder, quickly forming hand seals with his hands and muttering something. As he moved, the air around him seemed stirred by an invisible force, becoming restless. The water, which had previously receded, began to ripple again. Though less turbulent than before, it carried a more eerie aura, sweeping towards Xiao Zhao.
Xiao Zhao's heart tightened as he watched the waves crashing towards him, but he didn't flinch. "Come on, I'm not afraid of you!" Xiao Zhao shouted, emboldening himself as he dodged sideways, attempting to avoid the wave's direct impact. However, the wave, seemingly possessing some kind of consciousness, suddenly veered mid-air, pursuing Xiao Zhao relentlessly.
Seeing Xiao Zhao in danger, Lin Yu was terrified. "Xiao Zhao, be careful!" Lin Yu shouted, quickly pulling a specially crafted flash grenade from his backpack. He seized the opportunity and hurled it forcefully at the black-robed figure. "Watch out!" With a bang, a powerful light instantly illuminated the entire living room, as bright as day. The sudden glare blinded the black-robed figure, instantly affecting his spellcasting and slowing the wave's forward momentum.
Xiao Zhao seized this opportunity and quickly repositioned himself, hiding behind a thick table. He gasped for breath, having felt the threat of death in that instant. "That was a close call! I almost got hit," Xiao Zhao thought with lingering fear, but his eyes remained firm, ready to fight again.
Taking advantage of the black-robed man's distraction, Old Chen cast several more talismans. The talismans ignited in the air, transforming into streaks of golden light that shot towards the black-robed man like meteors. "Try this!" Old Chen shouted, hoping this time the talismans would inflict substantial damage on the black-robed man.
The black-robed figure felt the spell's attack and forced his eyes open, stung by the intense light. With a wave of his hands, a black barrier reappeared before him. Golden light clashed with the black barrier, emitting a series of sizzling sounds. The light flickered, as if engaged in a fierce battle. Eventually, the golden light gradually dissipated, swallowed by the black barrier. However, this also distracted the black-robed figure, causing his spell to stagnate briefly.
Professor Li seized this golden opportunity and shouted to Lin Yu, "Lin Yu, take advantage of this opportunity, while his magic is showing a flaw. Attack his hands! Break his seal!" Lin Yu's eyes lit up when he heard this, and he rushed towards the black-robed man without hesitation. His figure was like a black lightning in the living room, extremely fast.
The black-robed figure sensed Lin Yu's attack and tried to dodge, but the spell was at a critical juncture, preventing him from moving freely. He could only slightly sideways, attempting to mitigate the damage. Lin Yu's weapon slashed through the black-robed figure's hands with a whistling sound. The black-robed figure, startled, tried to withdraw his hands, but it was too late. Lin Yu's weapon struck the black-robed figure's arm, sending a stream of blood splattering and causing him to howl in pain.
As the black-robed figure was wounded again, his spell instantly lost control. The surging waves in the living room quickly dissipated, and everything around them, as if freed from the support of an evil force, returned to calm. The black-robed figure's face paled, and a flicker of fear flashed in his eyes. He knew he was at a disadvantage and would be overwhelmed by this group if he continued. "Hmph, you're lucky today, but don't think you can stop me like this!" the black-robed figure said, turning and attempting to escape. His figure moved in the darkness like a ghost, with extremely fast speed.
