Chapter 386: The Mystery of the Corpse in the Unfinished Building (Part 2)

Professor Li nodded and began to study the symbols intently. He pulled a magnifying glass from his backpack and carefully examined the patterns and arrangements of the symbols, trying to discern a pattern. His eyes fixed on the symbols, as if he wanted to see through them, his mind racing, recalling all the mystical knowledge and symbol systems he knew. Time slipped slowly in the tense atmosphere, and beads of sweat formed on Professor Li's forehead, trickling down his cheeks and dripping onto the door. But he didn't stop his movements, his eyes radiating determination and perseverance.

After much painstaking effort, Professor Li finally found a way to decipher the symbols. He gently touched them in a specific sequence, muttering something to himself. As he did so, the symbols on the door began to glow faintly, an eerie purple light, like a signal from another world. Then, the door slowly opened with a creaking sound, like the roar of a long-dormant beast awakening, echoing through the basement and causing a dull pain in the eardrums.

Behind the door was a dimly lit room, filled with a pungent odor, like a mixture of decay and sulfur, making one want to vomit. The light in the room was extremely dim, with only a few glimmers coming from nowhere, barely enough to make out the general outline of the room. In the center of the room stood a huge sarcophagus, also engraved with strange symbols. These symbols glowed eerily in the dim light, as if telling an ancient and evil story. The surface of the sarcophagus was uneven, and carved with strange patterns, including distorted human faces and monsters with bared fangs and claws, as if showing a world full of horror and evil.

Just as everyone was about to approach the sarcophagus, it suddenly trembled violently, shaking the entire room. Dust rained down from the ceiling, and the stones on the walls began to loosen and crumble. A black smoke rose from the sarcophagus, quickly converging into a vague figure. The figure let out a sinister laugh, a laugh like the cry of a night owl, making people feel uneasy, as if thousands of ants were crawling on them.

"How dare you, foolish humans, trespass here? You will all become my sacrifice!" The figure's voice was deep and hoarse, like a curse from the Netherworld, filled with endless malice and resentment. The voice echoed in the room, and every word was like a hammer, hammering down on everyone's heart.

Lin Yu shouted fearlessly, "Who are you? Why are you killing people? What's your purpose?" His voice was firm and powerful, and he tried to suppress the evil force with his aura. He stared at the blurry figure, his eyes unwavering, his heart filled with a desire for the truth and anger against evil.

The figure sneered and said disdainfully: "It doesn't matter who I am. What matters is that you can't escape! Your lives are about to end here! You mortals, who dare to trespass into my territory, must pay the price." As the figure spoke, he waved his arms, and the air around him seemed to be stirred by an invisible force, becoming restless.

With that, the figure waved his hands, and a violent wind suddenly blew through the room, mixed with countless sharp stones. Like a group of mad beasts, they fiercely attacked everyone. The wind howled, as if to tear everything apart. The stones, swept by the wind, moved at an extremely fast speed, making a sharp whistling sound that was terrifying.

Xiao Zhao felt a surge of wind and rocks as he watched, his heart tightening. He felt as if his breath was about to stop. But he quickly recovered and scrambled for cover. "Everyone, be careful!" Xiao Zhao shouted, running toward the nearby stone pillar. His heartbeat raced, his mind racing, trying to figure out how to evade this deadly onslaught.

Lin Yu reacted quickly, shouting, "Everyone, scatter and hide! Find cover, don't get hit by rocks! Protect yourselves!" He shouted as he ran in another direction, looking for shelter. He knew that in such a dangerous situation, remaining calm and organized was paramount; only then would they have a chance of facing the next challenge.

Old Chen quickly retreated to a corner, using the wall as a barrier to mitigate the impact of the strong wind. With a determined gaze, he quickly pulled out a talisman, muttering something to himself. The talisman ignited in his hand, emitting a golden glow. "Watch me!" Old Chen chanted aloud, and the talisman transformed into a golden curtain of light, temporarily blocking the strong wind and the rocks. The golden curtain swayed in the strong wind, as if it would be torn apart at any moment, but Old Chen gritted his teeth, striving to maintain the power of the talisman.

Professor Li hid behind a large stone slab, his brain frantically racking his brains for a countermeasure. He stared at the blurry figure and thought, "This figure may seem powerful, but it must have a weakness. I discovered earlier that it seems sensitive to light, so perhaps we can attack it there." With this thought, he shouted to Lin Yu, "Lin Yu, this figure is afraid of light. Let's find a way to attack it with strong light! Maybe we can find a flaw! This could be the key to defeating it." Professor Li shouted as he searched his backpack for a tool that could produce strong light.

Lin Yu's heart lit up when he heard this. He quickly pulled a special high-intensity flashlight from his backpack. This flashlight, developed by Bureau 749 specifically for supernatural events, could emit an extremely high-intensity beam. He flipped the switch, and a powerful beam of light shot toward the blurry figure. The strong light formed a bright beam in the dark room, shining directly on the figure.

The figure, caught in the intense light, howled in agony, its form twisting violently, becoming increasingly blurred. "Damn it! How dare you hurt me!" the figure roared angrily, its voice filled with resentment. Its body seemed to be burning in the intense light, and black smoke billowed continuously, trying to avoid the deadly light.
