Chapter 387: The Mystery of the Corpse in the Unfinished Building (Part 2)

749 Bureau: The Mystery of the Mummy in the Unfinished Building (Part 2)

As the evil figure vanished into thin air under the combined attack, the tension and terror that permeated the room persisted. Though the sarcophagus had ceased vibrating, the air around it still seemed to linger with the lingering presence of an evil force, eerie and oppressive. Strange flickering lights and shadows on the walls, like afterimages of the horrific scene just now, wavered in the dim light, leaving one feeling uneasy.

Lin Yu was breathing heavily, his nerves on edge from the intense battle just now. Even though the crisis was temporarily over, he didn't dare let his guard down. He stared at the sarcophagus, his mind racing. "This sarcophagus must be the key to this whole incident. I'm afraid there's a bigger conspiracy hidden behind it." He turned to look at his teammates. Although they looked a little tired, their eyes were filled with determination.

"Is everyone okay?" Lin Yu asked loudly, his voice echoing in the silent room.

Xiao Zhao patted the dust off his body and grinned, "It's okay, Captain, this guy can't do anything to us. But, what is the origin of this sarcophagus, and how could it lead to such an evil thing?" Although Xiao Zhao was still a little scared, he pretended to be calm and tried to use words to dispel the fear lingering in his heart.

Old Chen frowned, stared at the sarcophagus and said, "This sarcophagus is weird, and the symbols on it are very evil. The previous supernatural phenomena are probably related to it." As Old Chen spoke, he approached the sarcophagus carefully, his eyes fixed on the symbols on the sarcophagus, trying to search for related clues from his memory, secretly worried that this was just the tip of the iceberg.

Professor Li pushed his glasses up, his gaze penetrating with thought and caution. He spoke slowly, "From what we've just seen, the power these symbols hold is extremely powerful and sinister. We must carefully study them, perhaps we can uncover the root cause of this case." Professor Li knew that when faced with such mysterious and dangerous supernatural phenomena, every step must be taken with caution; the slightest mistake could lead to even more dire consequences.

Lin Yu nodded and said, "Professor Li, please study the symbols on the sarcophagus carefully again. Lao Chen, Xiao Zhao, you continue to search around to see if there are any other clues." Lin Yu made arrangements in an orderly manner, trying to uncover the truth of the case from all aspects, hoping to find the key information and solve the mystery as soon as possible.

Professor Li approached the sarcophagus again, pulling out various tools to carefully examine the symbols. His eyes were fixed on them, sometimes examining details with a magnifying glass, sometimes recording their characteristics and arrangement patterns in a notebook. Time slipped quietly in the tense atmosphere. Fine beads of sweat covered Professor Li's forehead and trickled down his cheeks, but he remained oblivious, completely absorbed in deciphering the symbols.

Old Chen and Little Zhao searched the room, leaving no corner untouched. They carefully rummaged through the debris, each move fearing it might trigger a new danger. The room was filled with a stench of decay and dust, making it difficult to breathe.

"Old Chen, how come there is such a weird sarcophagus in this place?" Xiao Zhao asked in a low voice with a hint of nervousness as he searched.

Old Chen shook his head and said, "I don't know either, but it must be related to some evil forces. The water behind this is probably very deep, so we have to be careful." Old Chen was worried that this was just the beginning of an evil plan, and that there were more unknown dangers waiting for them.

Just then, Xiao Zhao discovered a tattered diary at the bottom of the sarcophagus. The pages were yellowed, the edges frayed, as if eroded by countless years. "Old Chen, look what this is!" Xiao Zhao exclaimed in delight, as if he had found a ray of light in the darkness.

Old Chen hurried over, and the two of them carefully picked up the diary. Lin Yu and Professor Li heard the noise and gathered around. Lin Yu slowly flipped open the diary. The handwriting was a little blurry, but still legible. As he read deeper, everyone's expressions grew more solemn.

The diary records the experiments of a crazed occultist. Obsessed with the supernatural, he sought to unlock the seal on a sarcophagus, unlock its hidden power, and realize his mad dream of world domination. During his explorations, he stumbled upon the sarcophagus in the basement of an unfinished building. Ignoring warnings and omen, he resolutely broke the seal. As the seal loosened, a sinister force gradually escaped, and the dried corpse of an innocent bystander who had strayed into the area became its unfortunate victim.

Lin Yu closed the diary and said with a serious expression: "It seems that we are close to the truth, but the mastermind behind the scenes has not been found yet. Although this evil force has been temporarily repelled by us, if it is not completely resolved, more innocent people will suffer. We must continue to follow this clue, find the occult enthusiast, and stop his crazy behavior." Lin Yu's eyes showed firm determination, and he knew that the responsibility he shouldered was heavy.

Old Chen nodded and said, "That's right. This guy caused such a terrible thing for his own selfish desires. We must not let him go." Old Chen's heart was burning with anger, and he was indignant at the crazy behavior of the mysticism enthusiast.

Xiao Zhao clenched his fists tightly and said, "Captain, let's set off quickly. We can't let him get away with it any longer." Xiao Zhao couldn't wait to bring the mastermind behind the incident to justice and seek justice for the deceased.

Professor Li pondered for a moment and said, "From the diary, it seems that this occult enthusiast has not yet fully mastered the power of the sarcophagus. He will probably continue to try to break the seal. We have to find him as soon as possible, and at the same time prevent the sarcophagus from triggering another supernatural crisis." Professor Li was worried that the occult enthusiast would continue to break the seal at all costs, causing a greater disaster.
