Chapter 39: Mysterious Patterns and Crisis

Mysterious Patterns and Crisis

After entering the left passage, everyone's attention was drawn to the strange patterns on the cave walls. The faint light flickered in the darkness, illuminating the twisted and strange lines on the cave walls, like cursed spells.

Lin Yu leaned in for a closer look. The patterns had bold lines and eerie colors, as if drawn in blood. The vibrant yet dark hues cast a frightening luster under the light. His brow furrowed, his eyes filled with confusion and vigilance.

"What on earth are these paintings about?" Suna couldn't help but ask. Her voice echoed in the empty passage, tinged with trembling and fear. Her eyes were fixed on the patterns, as if drawn by some invisible force, yet she dared not stare for too long.

Old Chen shook his head. "I don't understand, but I sense a sinister aura." His voice was low and hoarse, and he gripped his weapon tighter. His eyes darted rapidly between the pattern and the surrounding darkness, his unease growing stronger.

Lin Yu gently touched the patterns, lost in thought. The rough texture of the pattern on his fingertips shuddered, as if he could sense the pain and struggle that went into drawing it. "Perhaps this is some kind of ancient record or warning," he muttered, his voice remarkably clear in the silence. His mind raced, trying to find a clue among these seemingly chaotic lines.

At this moment, a member of the team suddenly screamed. The sharp cry cut through the already tense atmosphere like a sword, making everyone's heart instantly rise to their throat.

"What's wrong?" Lin Yu asked nervously. He turned his head sharply, and the light quickly swept in the direction of the team member.

"I... I feel something pulling at my foot!" the team member cried out in terror. His voice was distorted by extreme fear, and his eyes were wide open, filled with despair and helplessness. He struggled desperately, trying to break free from the unknown restraints.

Everyone quickly shone the light at his feet, only to see a pale hand stretched out from the ground, tightly grasping the team member's ankle. The hand was skinny, the skin was as pale as paper, and the nails were sharp and black, like a claw stretched out from hell.

"Help!" The team member struggled desperately. He kicked and stomped his legs, trying to break free from the terrifying hand. His face was covered in sweat and tears, and fear had almost made him lose his mind.

Lao Chen quickly raised his weapon and smashed it towards the hand. With a "bang", the sound of metal and bone colliding echoed in the passage, making people's eardrums hurt.

The hand loosened, and the player collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath, his body shaking as if he had just experienced a nightmare.

"Everyone, be careful! This place is full of danger!" Lin Yu shouted. His voice echoed through the passage, carrying an undeniable majesty. His gaze swept across the faces of each team member, trying to convey courage and determination to them.

However, the danger didn't stop there. Rocks began to fall from the cave ceiling, large and small, crashing to the ground like raindrops. Each falling rock was accompanied by a dull thud, like a countdown to death.

Everyone took cover. "Is this place going to collapse?" Suna cried in panic. Her voice was filled with despair, and she curled up into a ball, clutching her head with both hands.

Lin Yu shouted, "Run back quickly!" His voice was like a beacon in the chaos, pointing the way for everyone.

Everyone turned and ran back the way they had come. The sound of footsteps echoed through the passage, intertwining with the sound of falling rocks, forming a terrifying symphony. The rocks behind them grew larger and larger, as if the entire cavern was about to bury them. Every breath was filled with fear and despair, and every step felt like a race against death.

Just as they were about to reach the fork in the road, a huge rock blocked their way. The rock was like a hill, ruthlessly cutting off their path to survival.

"What should we do? We can't get out!" a team member shouted desperately. His voice was full of collapse and helplessness, and his eyes revealed the fear of death.

Lin Yu looked around, his eyes anxious and determined. His heartbeat quickened, his brain racing, thinking of a way to escape. He spotted a small gap nearby. "Everyone, get in!" he said with a hint of hope in his voice.

One by one, they squeezed into the crevice, temporarily sheltering from the falling rocks. The crevice was filled with a damp, stifling heat that felt suffocating. Everyone's breathing was rapid and heavy, their hearts filled with fear and anxiety.

"What should we do? Are we going to be trapped here?" Old Chen said worriedly. His face was covered in sweat and dust, and his eyes revealed a hint of despair.

Lin Yu was silent for a moment. "Don't panic, there will definitely be a way out." His voice was calm, but his heart was also filled with anxiety. He knew that in this situation, staying calm was the key to their survival.

At this moment, the strange whispering sound rang out again, and it became louder and louder. The sound seemed to come from all directions, and it seemed to be right next to their ears, making people shudder.

"What's that sound?" Suna asked tremblingly.

"I don't know, but it's definitely not a good thing." Lin Yu held the weapon tightly in his hand and looked around vigilantly.

The whispers seemed to be telling an ancient and evil secret that made people's souls tremble.

"Is this a curse?" a team member muttered to himself.

"Don't talk nonsense!" Old Chen scolded.

Lin Yu took a deep breath and said, "Everyone keep quiet and listen to what this voice is saying."

Everyone fell silent, trying to listen to the strange whispers, but the voices were unclear, like an incomprehensible language.

"No, I don't understand at all." Suna shook her head.

Lin Yu frowned. "No matter what, we can't just sit there and wait for death. Let's look for other ways out."

Everyone struggled to move through the narrow gap, trying to find hope of escape. But as time went by, their hearts grew heavier and their fear deepened...
