749 Bureau: The Mystery of Peng Jiamu's Disappearance in Lop Nur (Part 2)
After a fierce battle between Lin Yu and the others and the mysterious figure, the figure retreated back to the disc. The disc, emitting a dazzling light, slowly ascended into the air, disappearing into the inky black night sky of Lop Nur. The desert fell silent again, but this silence was filled with a chilling eeriness, as if the battle just now was only the prelude to a nightmare, and something even more terrifying was lurking in the darkness.
Although Lin Yu and his team had temporarily repelled the mysterious figure, they all knew that this was just a small episode in a longer mystery, and the real challenge lay ahead. They returned to the unconscious expedition member and carried him back to camp for basic treatment. Lin Yu looked at the unconscious expedition member with concern: "He was an eyewitness to the incident. Perhaps he knows the key to solving the mystery of Peng Jiamu's disappearance. But after all he's been through, can he provide us with any useful information?"
While helping with the treatment, Old Chen muttered, "This is getting more and more weird. What are those mysterious figures? What does it have to do with Peng Jiamu's disappearance?" Old Chen frowned, his face full of confusion and worry.
Professor Li looked intently at the expedition team member, pondering, "From what he's said before and what he just experienced, the secrets hidden in Lop Nur are far beyond our imagination. There must be a complete logic behind these supernatural phenomena. We must find the key nodes of this logic as soon as possible."
Xiao Zhao stood by, watching the expedition team members, feeling a little anxious: "Why hasn't this guy woken up yet? We are running out of time, and there are still many clues waiting for him to solve."
After some treatment, the expedition team member finally slowly opened his eyes. Lin Yu immediately leaned forward and asked softly, "Do you know any other clues about the disappearances? Have you seen those mysterious figures just now?"
There was still fear in the eyes of the scientific expedition team member, and he shook his head weakly: "I... I don't know what those things are. After Peng Jiamu disappeared, we encountered all kinds of strange things. After that, I got separated from the team, and I don't know a lot of things." The scientific expedition team member's voice trembled, as if he was still frightened when recalling the scene of that year.
Lin Yu and his team, though somewhat disappointed, remained undaunted. They continued their investigation in Lop Nur, combining previous clues with their recent encounter. After painstaking exploration and analysis, they finally uncovered key information. It turned out that a unique energy vein lay beneath Lop Nur, generating strange magnetic fields and paranormal phenomena. When Peng Jiamu led his expedition there, he may have inadvertently triggered some hidden mechanism, leading to a series of bizarre events. And those mysterious figures may be unknown entities guarding this area.
Lin Yu looked at the notebook in his hand where he had recorded the clues and thought to himself, "It seems we are getting closer and closer to the truth. The connection between this special mineral vein and the mysterious figure, and their relationship to Peng Jiamu's disappearance, will be the focus of the next investigation. But there are definitely more dangers waiting for us ahead."
Old Chen looked at the vast desert around him and said, "This Lop Nur is full of strange things. We must be more careful next time. Who knows what strange things are waiting for us."
Professor Li pushed up his glasses and said, "Based on the current clues, if we continue exploring along the direction of the energy vein, we may find the answer. However, the magnetic field generated by this vein may interfere with our equipment, making exploration more difficult."
Xiao Zhao tightened his gear and said, "No matter how difficult it is, we must continue investigating. I just don't believe we can't solve this mystery."
Everyone took a deep breath and continued forward, following the path of the energy vein. During the daytime in Lop Nur, the sun was high in the sky, its scorching rays scorching the earth without reserve, the sand scorching to a point where it seemed to melt everything. The strong wind, carrying the yellow sand like surging yellow waves, constantly buffeted them. Every step forward required immense effort.
As they went deeper, the surroundings grew increasingly eerie. The dunes took on bizarre shapes, some resembling snarling demons, others like twisted human bodies, seemingly poised to come alive in the fierce wind. Occasionally, illusory sights appeared in the distance, resembling ancient castles or mysterious palaces. But as they approached, they vanished without a trace, leaving only a dead desert.
Lin Yu looked at these strange scenes and felt a chill in his heart: "This place is too weird. It feels like we are stepping into an unknown and terrifying world step by step. But for the truth, we can't retreat."
Old Chen observed his surroundings warily and said, "Everyone, be careful. These sights might be some kind of trap. Lop Nur won't let us find its secrets easily."
Professor Li struggled forward while analyzing, "These illusory images could be hallucinations caused by magnetic field interference, or they could be warnings from some supernatural force. We must keep a clear head."
Xiao Zhao gripped his weapon tightly and encouraged himself: "No matter what it is, I won't be afraid. We will definitely uncover the truth."
Finally, in a hidden valley, they discovered an ancient ruin. The cliffs on either side of the valley were sheer, as if cleaved by a massive blade. Strange symbols and patterns were carved into the walls. The symbols twisted and curved, like some mysterious script; the patterns depicted bizarre creatures and supernatural scenes, exuding a mysterious and terrifying aura.
The gate to the ruins was tightly shut, engraved with symbols similar to those on the disc. These symbols shimmered faintly in the sunlight, as if telling an ancient and mysterious story. A chill hung around the gate, a stark contrast to the scorching heat outside, sending a shiver down one's spine.
