The Mysterious Ailao Mountains (Part 1)
After concluding the investigation into Peng Jiamu's disappearance, the 749th Bureau had barely recovered from their intense tension when they received a new assignment. The atmosphere in the director's office was heavy. His expression was serious, his eyes etched with worry. He looked at Lin Yu, Old Chen, Professor Li, and Xiao Zhao, and slowly began, "Recently, there have been numerous incidents in the Ailao Mountains. Several expedition teams have mysteriously lost contact within the mountains, and local villagers are experiencing increasing panic, claiming to hear eerie cries and witness strange lights and shadows emanating from the mountains. Feedback from all sides suggests these phenomena are highly likely related to supernatural forces. After discussion, the Bureau has decided to send you to conduct an in-depth investigation to uncover the truth behind this."
Lin Yu frowned slightly, his mind racing back to the complex, treacherous terrain of the Ailao Mountains and the enduring mystical legends. He knew this mission would be even more difficult than any before, but as a core member of the 749th Bureau, his sense of mission compelled him to answer without hesitation, "Rest assured, Director! We will accomplish this mission with all our might." Even so, he harbored a secret fear, wondering what unknown dangers this trip to the Ailao Mountains would bring.
Old Chen scratched his head, his brows twisted into the shape of the Chinese character "川", and he couldn't help muttering, "This Ailao Mountain has always been mysterious, and all kinds of weird rumors are heard everywhere. These things happened again this time, and I'm afraid it's more likely to be bad than good. I don't know what kind of weird things we will encounter." Old Chen has been in the 749th Bureau for many years and has witnessed many supernatural events, but the mysterious atmosphere of Ailao Mountain still makes him feel vaguely uneasy.
Professor Li pushed his heavy glasses, his eyes flashing with thought behind the lenses: "From the information we have now, we must not only conduct a detailed survey of the geographical environment of Ailao Mountain, but also have an in-depth understanding of local folklore. These seemingly insignificant details may be the key clues to solving the mystery." As the knowledge leader of the team, Professor Li knows that when investigating such supernatural events, multi-faceted information collection and analysis is crucial.
Xiao Zhao was rubbing his hands excitedly, his eyes flashing with eagerness: "No matter what kind of strange incident it is, I don't believe we can't handle it. This time we must unveil the mystery of Ailao Mountain and find out what secrets are hidden behind it." Xiao Zhao is young and energetic, and is full of enthusiasm for unknown challenges. Although he is a little nervous, he is more eager to explore the truth.
After packing their gear, the four set out on the journey to Ailao Mountain. After a long journey, they finally reached the foot of the mountain just as darkness had fallen. Dusk thickened, casting a mysterious and terrifying veil over the entire Ailao Mountain. Looking up, the mountain peaks undulated like a dormant dragon, appearing particularly eerie in the twilight. The mountains were lushly forested, their branches interwoven into a sea of dark green, yet this sea exuded an indescribable sense of oppression, as if countless eyes were hidden within, watching every intruder. The mountain wind howled like the roar of a ferocious beast, rustling the leaves in a chilling whisper like hell.
Lin Yu stared at the scene before him, a strong sense of foreboding welling up in his heart, as if an invisible hand were slowly pulling them into a terrifying abyss. He turned to his teammates and said seriously, "Everyone, be careful. This place doesn't feel right. It's full of strangeness. From now on, you must be vigilant. Any slight abnormality could be a dangerous signal." Lin Yu knew that in such an unknown environment, even the slightest negligence could have fatal consequences.
Lao Chen tightly gripped the weapon at his waist, his palms sweating slightly. He nodded and glanced around vigilantly: "Well, this atmosphere is really creepy, as if something is always watching us in the dark, making people feel uncomfortable." With years of experience, Lao Chen was keenly aware of the dangerous atmosphere hidden in the surrounding environment.
Professor Li took out a small detector from his backpack, staring at the constantly jumping data on it, frowning slightly: "The magnetic field is a little abnormal, more complicated than we previously estimated. This abnormal magnetic field may interfere with our communication equipment. Everyone must keep in close contact and report any emergencies in time." Professor Li knows very well that in the investigation of supernatural events, maintaining open communication is an important prerequisite for ensuring the safety of the team.
Xiao Zhao gripped his tools tightly. Despite trying to appear calm, his slightly trembling hands betrayed his inner nervousness. He looked at Lin Yu and asked, "Captain, are we heading up the mountain now? It's getting dark. Will it be more dangerous in the mountains at night?" Although Xiao Zhao was eager to explore, facing the unknown horror, he couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.
Lin Yu looked at the sky, then at the surrounding environment, and after thinking for a moment, he said, "Let's find a relatively safe place to camp at the foot of the mountain first. It's too risky to act at night. We don't know anything about the situation in the mountains. If we go up the mountain rashly, we may be in danger. Let's have a good rest tonight, recharge our energy, and go up the mountain early tomorrow morning." Lin Yu understood that in this situation, it was most important to stay calm and rational, and not ignore potential dangers because of haste.
Everyone set up camp in a relatively flat area at the foot of the mountain. Night fell completely, and the surroundings were plunged into darkness. Only the faint light from the tent seemed so small and fragile in the darkness, as if it would be swallowed by the darkness at any time. Lin Yu lay in the tent, but could not fall asleep for a long time. He listened to the whistling wind outside, and his thoughts were tangled like a tangled thread. What secrets are hidden in the Ailao Mountains? What kind of horrors did those lost expedition teams encounter? And the strange cries and strange lights and shadows mentioned by the villagers, what kind of supernatural phenomena are they? All these mysteries are like a heavy stone, pressing on his heart. As he thought about it, he fell into a daze of sleep in exhaustion and worry.
