Chapter 395: The Strange Situation at Ailao Mountain (Part 2)

The Mysterious Ailao Mountains (Part 2)

The massive black shadow, like a flash of black lightning, accompanied by a whirring wind, pounced upon the crowd with the force of thunder. Instantly, the surrounding air seemed compressed by the powerful impact, emitting a dull sound that hurt the eardrums. Lin Yu felt a strong sense of danger surge through him like a tide, and without hesitation, he shouted, "Everyone, be careful!" Almost as a reflex, he quickly drew his specially modified long sword from his waist. The long sword gleamed coldly in the moonlight, as if it too sensed the coming fierce battle and was eager to drink blood and kill the enemy.

Old Chen's reaction was equally swift. Years of combat experience had kept him calm in this crucial moment. He chanted incantations like a rapid-fire cannon, his hands forming hand seals with a swift movement. Instantly, several talismans appeared in his hands, their runes gleaming with a mysterious light, as if imbued with some ancient and powerful power. "Watch me!" Old Chen hurled the talismans with all his might at the shadow. They instantly ignited in the air, transforming into dazzling golden rays. Like a flock of swift firebirds, they whizzed towards the shadow, carrying blazing heat and the power to shatter evil. They attempted to halt the shadow's ferocious attack.

As for Xiao Zhao, the moment the shadow pounced on him, his heart suddenly sank, and an instinctive fear surged in his heart. His legs seemed to be nailed down, and he couldn't move for a moment. But soon, the desire to survive and the strength given by his teammates made him come to his senses quickly. He quickly turned sideways and hid behind a big tree as fast as he could. He leaned tightly against the tree trunk, his heart beating violently in his chest, as if it was about to burst through his chest. His palms were full of sweat, and he could hardly hold the weapon in his hand, but he still held it tightly, his eyes wide open, staring at the shadow through the gap in the tree trunk, his eyes full of tension and vigilance, ready to deal with any situation that might arise. He kept encouraging himself in his heart: "Don't be afraid, with everyone here, we will definitely get through this. We can do it!"

Professor Li, in this tense atmosphere, was filled with fear, but his years of scientific training enabled him to react quickly. With a trembling hand, he pulled a small energy detector from his backpack. His eyes fixed on the continuously fluctuating data on the detector, his brow furrowed as he muttered to himself, "This energy fluctuation is so strange! I've never seen anything like it before... What on earth is this? What's its energy source?" He knew that understanding the energy signature of this shadow might be the key to finding a solution.

As the shadow drew closer, everyone finally saw a massive beast. Its body was covered in thick, bristly black fur, each one standing upright like a steel needle, rustling wildly in the wind. Its eyes, the size of lanterns, gleamed with a bloodthirsty red light, a glow like the flames of hell, revealing boundless cruelty and madness. Its mouth was filled with sharp fangs, each as long as a dagger, gleaming with a cold, metallic sheen in the moonlight. Saliva dripped from its fangs, dripping onto the ground, instantly corroding tiny pits and emitting a pungent, rancid odor that was nauseating.

"What kind of monster is this?" Xiao Zhao cried out in terror, his voice trembling and filled with despair as it echoed through the silent forest. He felt his own voice swallowed by the terrifying atmosphere, and a strong sense of helplessness welled up in him.

Lin Yu stared intently at the monster, his mind racing as he quickly formulated a response. He knew that facing such a powerful and unknown foe, panic would only make the situation worse. "Whatever it is, we can't panic. Old Chen, continue to disrupt it with your spells; Xiao Zhao, look for opportunities to attack its weaknesses; Professor Li, see if you can find its power source and weaken it. Everyone, follow my lead and remain calm. We will defeat it," Lin Yu shouted, his voice firm and powerful, trying to instill confidence and strength in his teammates. But deep down, he also knew that this would be an extremely difficult battle.

Upon hearing this, Old Chen immediately pulled several more talismans from his pocket. His eyes revealed a determined look as he quickly formed hand seals, chanting the incantation even more rapidly. The talismans burned more fiercely in his hands, their golden light growing ever more dazzling. "Go!" Old Chen hurled the talismans fiercely at the monster. This time, the talismans transformed into a golden barrier, like an impenetrable wall, standing between the monster and the crowd.

The monster, as if sensing the threat posed by the barrier, let out a deafening roar. It sounded like a roar emanating from the depths of hell, shaking the surrounding trees and sending leaves rustling and falling. It swung its claws, thick as tree trunks, and slashed frantically at the barrier. Their claws collided with the barrier, making a sharp, shrill sound like metal rubbing against metal, sending sparks flying. The golden barrier trembled violently under its assault, its light flickering, as if ready to shatter at any moment.

Xiao Zhao seized the opportunity, took a deep breath, and tried to suppress his fear. He suddenly burst out from behind the tree, pushed off the ground with both feet, and leaped high, stabbing the monster's eyes with his weapon. His eyes were filled with determination, and he had only one thought in mind: to hit the monster's vitals. However, the monster seemed to sense the danger, and its huge head suddenly tilted, and Xiao Zhao's weapon pierced its shoulder. There was a clang, as if it had pierced through extremely solid steel, leaving only a faint white mark on the monster's shoulder.
