Chapter 395: The Strange Situation at Ailao Mountain (Part 2)

Lin Yu nodded and, with the help of his teammates, bandaged his wound. Despite the sharp pain, his eyes remained resolute. They decided to continue their journey up the mountain. They knew that the deeper they went into Ailao Mountain, the closer they would get to the truth, but it also meant more unknown dangers awaited them. Every step forward felt like groping in the dark, not knowing what horror they would encounter next. But they had no intention of retreating, for they were tasked with uncovering the mysteries of Ailao Mountain. They were the warriors of the 749th Bureau, and no matter how many difficulties and obstacles lay ahead, they could not stop their progress.

For the rest of the journey, an eerie silence permeated the forest. The whistling wind and chirping insects seemed to have vanished without a trace, leaving only the heavy thud of their footsteps echoing through the stillness. The surrounding trees seemed to grow thicker, their branches intertwined, blocking out the sun and making the entire forest seem even darker and more oppressive. Moonlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting patches of light and shadow that swayed across the ground, like a dance of ghosts, adding a touch of terror to the eerie atmosphere.

As we walked, we came upon a dilapidated temple. Its walls were mottled and crumbling, revealing the dark brown brickwork within, resembling the faces of a ferocious ghost. The roof had collapsed in places, revealing jagged broken beams that resembled the fangs of a demon in the moonlight. The temple door was ajar, revealing a faint red light from within. It flickered in the darkness, like a vigilant eye, observing everything outside.

Old Chen looked at the temple vigilantly, his eyes full of caution: "This place looks weird. Is there any danger again? I feel a strong ominous atmosphere from this temple." Old Chen's intuition told him that this temple was by no means a good place and that there might be huge dangers hidden inside.

Xiao Zhao swallowed and said in a trembling voice, "How about we go around it? This place looks eerie and scary. It feels like we can't get out once we go in." Xiao Zhao's heart was filled with fear. This temple gave him a strong sense of oppression, and he instinctively wanted to stay away from it.

After pondering for a moment, Lin Yu said, "Since we're here, let's go in and take a look. Maybe we can find clues related to the previous events. But everyone must be careful and be prepared to deal with danger at any time. We can't miss any opportunity to solve the mystery." Lin Yu knew very well that retreating would never reveal the truth. Although this temple was weird, it might be the key to their search for answers.

The group slowly approached the temple, their ominous aura growing stronger with every step. When they reached the temple gate, a pungent odor, like a mixture of rot and spices, was overwhelming. Lin Yu reached out and gently pushed the door open. With a creak, it swung open, a sound that was particularly piercing in the silent night, as if awakening a sleeping demon.

A thick fog filled the temple, through which a statue could be vaguely seen in the center. Its features were blurred, its paint peeling, but its outline revealed a strange figure, with multiple heads and arms, each holding a different magical instrument. On the altar before the statue lay strange offerings: the withered carcasses of animals, their eyes hollow and lifeless, as if speaking of the terrors of their former lives; and stones emitting an eerie glow, flickering in the mist as if alive.

Professor Li stepped forward and carefully examined the offerings and the statues. His eyes were filled with concentration and curiosity. Despite his fear, his scientific instincts compelled him to understand everything. "The shapes of these offerings and the statues are very strange, unlike common religious offerings. They may conceal a mysterious and unknown belief. Perhaps this belief is closely connected to the strange events in Ailao Mountain." Professor Li spoke as he pulled a magnifying glass from his backpack and carefully examined the details of the statues.

At this moment, the statue's eyes suddenly flashed red, a glow like a burning flame that instantly illuminated the entire temple. Then, the statue began to tremble violently, stones falling from its body, and the air around it became restless. A powerful sense of oppression overcame them, as if an invisible hand was trying to pin them to the ground.

Everyone was startled and immediately took a defensive stance. Lin Yu gripped his long sword tightly, his eyes fixed on the statue, and he was secretly alert: "It seems we have triggered some mechanism. Everyone, be careful, this statue may not be simple."

Lao Chen quickly pulled out his talisman, ready to attack again. His hands trembled slightly, but his eyes were determined: "No matter what you are, we will not retreat today."

Xiao Zhao gripped the weapon tightly in his hand. Although he was filled with fear, he pretended to be calm and said, "Come on, I'm not afraid of you."

Professor Li nervously observed the statue's changes, trying to find a way to respond. His mind raced, pondering the logic behind it all: "This statue's unusual movements must be connected to the previous incident. We must find a solution as soon as possible, otherwise..." Professor Li couldn't imagine the consequences. He knew that they were facing a huge danger. If they were not careful, they could die.

And that statue, illuminated by the red light, looked even more ferocious and terrifying, as if it was about to launch a fatal attack...
