Chapter 397: Traveling Through the Ancient Mirror (Part 2)

At that moment, a startled cry rang out from Old Chen and Xiao Zhao. Lin Yu and Professor Li turned their heads to see the woman suddenly pick up speed like a ghost, her previously slow movements becoming incredibly agile as she lunged at Xiao Zhao. Xiao Zhao couldn't dodge and was grabbed by the arm. The woman opened her mouth, revealing sharp, fang-like teeth that gleamed coldly in the darkness as she bit down fiercely on Xiao Zhao's neck...

Xiao Zhao felt a piercing pain in his arm, as if countless steel needles were piercing his skin simultaneously. He screamed in terror, his voice echoing in the silent room, filled with despair and fear. "Help... Help!" Xiao Zhao struggled desperately, but the woman's grip was like an iron clamp, holding him tightly, preventing him from breaking free.

Old Chen was so anxious that he didn't care about anything else. He took out a few more talismans and threw them at the woman. The talismans burned in the air, transforming into golden rays of light. However, the moment these rays touched the woman's body, they disappeared like a drop in the ocean, without a trace. A look of despair crossed Old Chen's face, but he didn't give up. He continued to shout, trying to attract the woman's attention and get her to let go of Xiao Zhao.

Lin Yu looked at the dire situation with a frantic anxiety. He knew that if he didn't act, Xiao Zhao's life would be in jeopardy. He quickly looked around, trying to find any possible way to save Xiao Zhao. Suddenly, his eyes fell on a candlestick next to the ancient mirror. The candle on the candlestick was extinguished, but the heavy metal material might be used as a weapon.

Lin Yu rushed over without hesitation, grabbed the candlestick, and rushed towards the woman. He raised the candlestick high and, with all his strength, smashed it hard on the woman's head. With a dull thud, the candlestick hit the woman's head hard. The woman's body swayed slightly, but she still did not let go of Xiao Zhao's hand. Lin Yu did not retreat. He raised the candlestick again and smashed it at the woman again, once, twice, three times... Finally, the woman let out an angry roar, let go of Xiao Zhao, and turned to pounce on Lin Yu.

Xiao Zhao took the opportunity to retreat to the side in embarrassment, his arm covered in blood. His face was as pale as paper, and he was gasping for breath, his eyes filled with the fear of surviving a disaster. Lin Yu held the candlestick tightly and confronted the woman. He knew in his heart that this was only a temporary respite, and the real crisis was far from over.

The tension in the room was at its peak, like a taut string ready to snap at any moment. The woman glared at Lin Yu fiercely, a deep growl emanating from her throat, like a wounded beast issuing a final warning. Lin Yu stared back at her without flinching, his back soaked with sweat, but his eyes still revealed a resolute and unyielding spirit.

Old Chen ran over to Xiao Zhao, quickly pulled out a first aid kit from his backpack, and bandaged Xiao Zhao's wound. "How are you? Hang in there!" Old Chen said anxiously as he bandaged the wound.

Xiao Zhao gritted his teeth, enduring the severe pain in his arm: "I... I'm fine, be careful..."

Professor Li took advantage of this break to study the symbols on the ancient mirror and the data from the detector more intently. His brow furrowed, his eyes filled with anxiety and concentration. "Lin Yu, the arrangement of these symbols is very complex. I'll need some time to find a way to decipher it. Just hold on a little longer!" Professor Li shouted.

Lin Yu nodded, gripping the candlestick tightly, ready for another attack from the woman. He stared at her, wondering, "Who is this woman? Why is she so relentless in pursuing us? What is the connection between her and the ancient mirror?" A stream of questions swirled through his mind, but he didn't have time to dwell on them. All he could do was protect his teammates and wait for Professor Li to find a solution.

The woman seemed to sense Lin Yu's determination. She didn't attack immediately, but instead paced slowly in place, her hollow eyes fixed on Lin Yu, as if searching for his weakness. The room was so quiet that only the sound of everyone's rapid breathing and the woman's slow footsteps could be heard. Each step seemed to tread on everyone's heart, making their nerves even more tense.

Suddenly, the woman let out a sharp scream, like the cry of a night owl, breaking the brief silence. She pounced on Lin Yu again, faster and more powerful than before. Lin Yu gripped the candlestick tightly and rushed towards the woman...
