Chapter 399: Traveling Through the Ancient Mirror (Final Chapter)

Through the Ancient Mirror (Final Chapter)

At that crucial moment, Lin Yu was terribly anxious, with only one thought in his mind: I must not let anything happen to Xiao Zhao! Without a second thought, he rushed towards the woman like a flash of black lightning. With the sound of the long sword cutting through the wind, he fiercely slashed at the woman's arm. With a chilling, dull sound, as if chopping at a piece of rotten yet tough wood, the woman's arm was struck. Black blood spurted out like ink, splashing onto the ground, emitting a sickening, pungent stench, a mixture of rotting flesh and venom, which almost suffocated everyone.

The woman screamed in pain, her voice as sharp as a blade piercing the night sky, echoing through the silent old house and causing pain in everyone's eardrums. She loosened her grip on Xiao Zhao's hand. Xiao Zhao's face was as pale as paper, his eyes filled with fear and dread. He staggered back behind Lin Yu, gasping for breath as if he had just walked through the gates of hell. "It was...it was too dangerous, it was almost..." His legs were shaking, and he could barely stand. His heart was beating violently in his chest, as if it was about to burst through his chest.

Lin Yu stared at the injured woman, watching as her injured arm healed at an incredibly rapid pace. The shattered muscles and bones seemed to be reassembled and regrown by invisible hands. The black blood dried up instantly, as if the injury had never occurred. The woman glared at everyone fiercely, her hollow eyes burning with hatred. A low, angry roar emanated from her throat, like a wounded beast preparing to launch a more violent attack.

Old Chen was well aware of the dire situation, and beads of sweat streamed down his forehead. He quickly pulled out a handful of specially crafted talismans, painstakingly prepared to protect against extremely powerful evil spirits. He formed seals with his hands and muttered something in a low, rapid voice: "Mysterious Sect of Heaven and Earth, the root of all mysteries. I will bring about a widespread catastrophe and prove my divine power..." The talisman instantly burned in his hands, transforming into a dazzling golden curtain of light. Runes flickered across the curtain, emitting a powerful righteous aura that temporarily blocked the woman's attack. "Lin Yu, this isn't a long-term solution! This female ghost is too powerful! We need to find a way to break it!" Old Chen shouted, straining to maintain the curtain, his voice tinged with anxiety and fatigue.

Lin Yu and Professor Li turned around, once again focusing their full attention on the ancient mirror. Lin Yu stared intently at the mysterious symbols on the mirror, his eyes etched with determination and concentration. His mind, like a high-speed machine, continuously recalled records of mysterious formations from various ancient texts. The symbols on the mirror seemed to have life, faintly flickering in the dim light, as if telling of an ancient and sinister secret. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he pointed to the arrangement of symbols on the mirror and said, "Professor Li, look here. The arrangement of these symbols is somewhat similar to the ancient 'Spirit Sealing Formation,' but not exactly the same. Perhaps we need to trigger these symbols in a specific order to unlock the power of the mirror."

Professor Li hurried over and looked in the direction Lin Yu pointed. A glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes. "Yes, it's very likely. But the order..." He quickly squatted down and pulled a small yet powerful computer from his backpack. His fingers pounded across the keyboard, entering the symbols on the ancient mirror one by one. Using the computer's complex data analysis program, he tried to determine the correct triggering sequence. The data on the computer screen jumped rapidly, and the room was so quiet that only the soft hum of the computer and the nervous breathing of the crowd could be heard.

At this moment, the woman outside the light curtain kept pounding against it frantically, emitting angry roars. Each impact caused the light curtain to tremble violently, its light flickering unsteadily, as if it would shatter at any moment. Where the light curtain made contact with the woman, a sizzling sound like an electric current flowing through it, and the air was filled with a burning smell. Old Chen gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead, his hands trembling slightly from the effort, as he tried his best to maintain the light curtain: "Hurry up, I can't hold on any longer!" His eyes revealed a hint of determination, knowing that if the light curtain shattered, they would all be doomed.

Finally, Professor Li shouted excitedly: "Found it! Lin Yu, follow this order, starting from the symbol in the upper left corner, trigger it clockwise in sequence, with an interval of three seconds!" There was a hint of joy after fatigue in his voice, as if he had found a ray of light in the darkness.

Lin Yu took a deep breath, suppressing his nervousness and excitement. Cautiously, he reached out and, following the order Professor Li had given him, gently touched the symbols on the ancient mirror. When he touched the first symbol, the mirror vibrated slightly, emitting a low, humming sound that seemed to emanate from a distant underground, carrying an ancient, mysterious power. A faint electric current coursed through his fingers, sending a chill through his body. As he triggered each symbol, the mirror's vibrations intensified, its light growing ever more dazzling, blinding everyone.

The woman seemed to sense the approaching danger. She abandoned her attack on the light curtain and turned, madly lunging at Lin Yu. Her figure vanished into a black afterimage, moving so fast that no one could react. Just as she was about to pounce on Lin Yu, the ancient mirror suddenly erupted with a light so intense it was almost blinding, enveloping the woman as if it were a physical entity. The woman let out a miserable scream, her voice filled with fear and unwillingness, her body twisting and struggling in the light, as if being torn apart by countless invisible hands.

Then, the light and shadows in the ancient mirror shifted violently again, flashing through a horrific tapestry of images: a gloomy ancient execution ground, prisoners writhing in agony; a desolate cemetery, bones emerging from the ground; and twisted human faces, gaping bloody mouths and emitting silent roars. Simultaneously, the terrifying sounds reached a crescendo: a shrill wailing, angry roars, and desperate cries intertwined, shaking the entire room and causing dust to fall from the walls.
