Chapter 399: Traveling Through the Ancient Mirror (Final Chapter)

Then, everything suddenly fell silent, as if time and space had frozen in that moment. The ancient mirror returned to its calm, its light gradually dissipating, and the woman's figure vanished without a trace, as if she had never appeared. An eerie silence permeated the room, broken only by the rapid breathing of the crowd.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and slumped to the ground, as if they had just experienced a cycle of life and death. However, before they could rejoice, the ancient mirror shone again, but this time the light was no longer eerie and gloomy, but a soft white that shone upon them like moonlight, giving them an inexplicable sense of tranquility. A blurry image appeared within the light, depicting what appeared to be an ancient scene, featuring a magnificent palace. The palace's architectural style was simple and solemn, with flying eaves, brackets, carved beams, and painted buildings, exuding luxury and majesty. A mysterious ceremony was taking place within the palace. People in strange costumes gathered around a huge stone platform, upon which were placed various bizarre offerings. The shrouded in smoke, it was impossible to see their faces or the full extent of the ceremony.

Lin Yu slowly stood up and stared at the image in the ancient mirror, his brows furrowed, his heart filled with doubts: "It seems that there is a bigger secret hidden behind this ancient mirror. This image may be the key clue. But where is this place? What kind of ceremony are they holding?"

Professor Li also stood up and adjusted his glasses, his eyes filled with thought and curiosity. "Indeed, this could very well be the key to unlocking the entire mystery. Judging from the palace's architectural style and the people's clothing, it's a scene from a specific historical period. We need to study this scene further to see if we can find any clues related to the ancient mirror, the woman, and this series of strange events. Perhaps there's an ancient legend or a mysterious organization behind this."

Old Chen and Xiao Zhao also gathered around. Old Chen looked at the ancient mirror and said with lingering fear: "This ancient mirror is really weird, but this time it has finally temporarily resolved the crisis. But this scene doesn't look simple either. It feels like we are going to be dragged into another trouble." There was still fear on his face. Recalling the fierce confrontation with the woman just now, he was still scared.

Xiao Zhao stared at the picture curiously, with doubts in his eyes: "Where is the scene in this picture? What kind of ceremony are they holding? Why is this ancient mirror related to these things?" A series of questions swirled in his mind, making him eager to uncover the truth.

Bursting with questions, the four continued to stare intently at the image in the ancient mirror, trying to grasp more details from the blurry image. They knew this was only the first step toward uncovering the truth; more mysteries lay like a thick fog, waiting to be unraveled. And this mysterious ancient mirror might lead them into a more fantastical, dangerous, and unknown supernatural world. Behind this seemingly peaceful world, countless unknown secrets lay hidden. As members of Bureau 749, they shoulder the heavy responsibility of uncovering these secrets and safeguarding world peace. No matter what lies ahead, they will forge ahead without hesitation...

As time passed, the image in the ancient mirror suddenly flickered several times before becoming clearer. Everyone was astonished to discover that the palace walls were engraved with symbols similar to those on the ancient mirror. These symbols seemed to tremble slightly as the ritual progressed, emanating a mysterious power. The figures in the image began to slowly circle the stone platform, muttering something deep and distant, as if communicating with some unknown entity.

"These symbols must have special meanings and must be closely related to the ancient mirror." Lin Yu pointed at the picture and said, his eyes revealing a firm determination. He must find out the truth behind all this.

Professor Li nodded slightly, his eyes fixed on the screen. He said, "From what we've seen so far, this ritual seems to be summoning or sealing some powerful force. Perhaps the ancient mirror is the key to this ritual, and the woman we met earlier may be the product of the ritual going out of control."

At this moment, the scene suddenly shifted. A vast black fissure suddenly appeared within the smoke-shrouded palace, emanating a chilling aura, as if connecting to the abyss of hell. Faint roars emanated from the crack, as if something terrifying was about to burst forth. The people in the scene seemed to sense the danger, their movements becoming frantic, yet they nonetheless attempted to continue the ritual.

"What's going on?" Xiao Zhao said in horror, his eyes wide open, his face filled with fear. A strong sense of unease surged in his heart, as if he had a premonition that something terrible was about to happen.

Old Chen frowned and tightened his grip on his weapon. Although he knew it might not have any effect outside of the scene, it had become his subconscious defensive action. "It seems that this ritual is not simple. It seems to lead to something extraordinary."

Lin Yu looked at the picture and quickly thought of a countermeasure in his mind: "No matter what happened in this picture, we must figure out its connection with the ancient mirror and the real world. Professor Li, you continue to analyze the symbols and scenes in the picture to see if you can find more clues. Lao Chen, Xiao Zhao, we must remain vigilant to prevent other accidents."

As the crack widened, a massive black claw emerged from it, covered in sharp barbs and emitting a cold, metallic sheen. Then, a gigantic monster slowly emerged from the crack. Its body was covered in black scales, and its eyes, like two balls of burning red flame, shone with bloodthirst. The monster opened its bloody maw and let out a deafening roar that shook the entire palace. The people in the scene fell to the ground at the monster's roar, some fainting from fear, while others tried to escape, but were easily devoured by the monster.
