Chapter 4: The Truth of Changbai Mountain

The Truth of Changbai Mountain

After Lin Yu, Suna, and Lao Chen successfully defeated the giant unknown creature, the old man, who had been hostile to them, suddenly changed his attitude. His previously stern face was now filled with a complex expression, a mixture of hesitation about the secrets of the past being revealed and concern about whether Lin Yu and the others could bear the truth.

They followed the old man, slowly making their way along a dark, deep passage. Torches flickered on the walls on either side of the passage, their faint flames struggling in the darkness, as if threatened to be swallowed by it at any moment. The flickering flames cast twisted and eerie shadows, like ghosts lurking in the darkness, ready to pounce on them at any moment.

The air was filled with a stale, decaying smell, tinged with a faint whiff of blood, making one's stomach churn. Lin Yu suppressed the discomfort, wondering to himself, "What secrets does this place hide that make it so eerie and terrifying?"

Su Na followed Lin Yu closely, her hands unconsciously clutching the corners of her clothes. She asked with a trembling voice, "What kind of truth needs to be hidden for so long?"

The old man remained silent, the wrinkles on his weathered face deepening, as if each one carried a weight of history. He simply lowered his head slightly and continued to walk forward with heavy steps. The shuffling footsteps echoed in the silent passage, adding to the oppressive atmosphere.

Finally, they stopped at the end of the passage. Before them lay a tightly closed door to a secret chamber, engraved with mysterious and complex runes. These runes shimmered faintly, as if telling of the passage of time. The old man slowly pulled out an ancient key from his bosom. The key, inlaid with gemstones, had lost its former luster. His hand trembled slightly as he inserted the key into the lock and gently turned it.

With a dull thud, the door slowly opened, and a powerful, unfamiliar energy surged like a tide. Lin Yu and the others couldn't help but step back, a sense of inexplicable fear welling up in their hearts. A thick mist filled the chamber, making it difficult to see what was inside.

"This is the secret of Changbai Mountain." The old man's voice broke the brief silence. There was a hint of awe in his voice, mixed with deep helplessness.

Lin Yu took a deep breath, mustered his courage, and walked into the chamber first. He stepped cautiously, as if afraid of disturbing some sleeping beast. Suna and Lao Chen followed closely behind him, their heartbeats remarkably clear in the silence.

As their eyes gradually adjusted to the dimness of the secret room, a huge ancient book appeared before them. The cover of the ancient book was made of an unknown leather and was engraved with mysterious words and patterns. Those words seemed to have life, flickering with a faint light, which made people shudder.

Lin Yu stepped forward, his hands trembling slightly as he carefully flipped open the ancient book. The yellowed pages rustled, as if telling an ancient story. The text was obscure and difficult to understand, but through the old man's interpretation, they gradually understood that dusty history.

Long ago, Changbai Mountain was once a gathering place for a mysterious power. This power was powerful and mysterious, capable of granting creatures extraordinary abilities, but it was also extremely dangerous, easily leading to loss of control and disaster. To prevent this power from being abused by those with ulterior motives, our ancestors devoted their entire lives to sealing it deep within Changbai Mountain, leaving behind a legacy of protection for generations to come.

"So those unknown creatures mutated because of the leakage of this power?" Old Chen frowned and asked doubtfully. He stared at the old man, hoping to get an answer from him.

The old man nodded and said solemnly, "In recent years, the power of the seal has gradually weakened, and the suppressed dark power has begun to seep out, affecting the surrounding creatures, leading to these changes."

After listening to this, Lin Yu frowned and secretly made up his mind: "No matter what, we must re-strengthen the seal and cannot let this power continue to harm the world."

At that moment, a sharp alarm suddenly rang out in the secret room, a sound so piercing that it seemed to pierce their eardrums. The runes on the wall began to flash a dazzling red light, and the entire secret room was instantly dyed blood red.

"Oh no, the seal is about to collapse!" The old man's face turned pale in an instant, and his eyes were filled with fear and despair.

A powerful dark force surged out from the ground, instantly filling the entire chamber. This force was icy cold, and Lin Yu and the others felt a huge pressure coming, as if an invisible pair of hands were tightly strangling their throats, making it almost impossible to breathe.

"Everyone hold on!" Lin Yu shouted loudly. His voice seemed a little weak under the powerful pressure, but it was full of determination.

Suna and Lao Chen huddled together tightly, their bodies trembling slightly with fear, but their eyes revealed an unyielding light.

Suna thought to herself, "I can't let fear defeat me like this. We must defeat this dark force!"

Old Chen prayed silently in his heart: "I hope we can find a solution and overcome this crisis."

In the darkness, twisted figures gradually emerged. They had different shapes, some like evil spirits, some like monsters, all of them rushing towards the crowd with fangs and claws bared.

"It's a soul eroded by dark forces!" the old man shouted, his voice full of horror.

Lin Yu did not flinch, he swung the weapon in his hand and chopped at those dark souls. Every swing was filled with his firm determination and fearless courage.
