The Mystery of the Barbecue Restaurant (Part 1)
Inside the 749 Bureau offices, the atmosphere was as heavy as the sky before a storm. Lin Yu, Old Chen, Professor Li, and Xiao Zhao sat around a conference table, poring over a report on a Korean barbecue restaurant near Chengdu University. The chilling allegation in the report—that the tender, tender meat at the restaurant was the flesh of a missing woman—pressed down on everyone's mind like a heavy rock.
Lin Yu frowned, his eyes revealing deep worry, and he thought to himself: "If the report is true, this will be an extremely bad case that may involve supernatural factors." He knew very well that such cases were often complicated and that if one was not careful, one would end up in an irretrievable situation.
Old Chen's face was stern. He slammed the table and said angrily, "This is absolutely insane! If anyone really dares to do such a thing, he must not be forgiven!" The sense of justice in his heart burned like a raging fire, and at the same time he was full of vigilance against the unknown dangers he was about to face.
Professor Li adjusted his glasses, his eyes behind the lenses revealing thought and calmness: "Don't jump to conclusions. Although the report is horrifying, we need more evidence to confirm it. However, based on past experience, there may be unknown secrets hidden behind this." He was looking forward to uncovering the truth, but also worried that the complexity behind the case was beyond imagination.
Xiao Zhao rubbed his hands nervously, swallowed and said, "Captain, this sounds scary. Can we really find out the truth?" His heart was filled with anxiety. On the one hand, he was afraid of the horrific scene he was about to face, and on the other hand, he was eager to prove himself in this mission.
Lin Yu looked at his teammates firmly and said, "No matter how difficult it is, our 749th Bureau has the mission of finding out the truth and must go all out." His words were like a loud bell, injecting a shot of confidence into his teammates.
The four of them quickly packed up their equipment and set off for Chengdu. Along the way, the scenery outside the car window flew by quickly, but none of them had the heart to appreciate it. Lin Yu looked out the window, his mind constantly thinking about various possible situations, and silently formulating a preliminary investigation plan in his heart. Lao Chen closed his eyes and rested, seemingly calm, but in fact he was repeatedly rehearsing strategies for dealing with emergencies in his mind. Professor Li took the report and read it carefully again, trying to find more clues between the lines. Xiao Zhao sat in his seat, his fingers tapping his knees unconsciously, his eyes revealing a hint of nervousness and anticipation.
Night had already fallen when they arrived near Chengdu University. The city's neon lights flickered, contrasting with the soft glow of the barbecue restaurant's sign. Brightly colored traditional Korean lanterns hung at the entrance, swaying gently in the breeze, creating a subtle rustling sound that seemed to reveal a hidden secret. Inside, the sounds of laughter and the sizzling of grilled meat filled the air. At first glance, it looked like any other bustling restaurant. However, the four knew that beneath this seemingly ordinary facade lay a terrifying evil.
Lin Yu looked at the seemingly ordinary barbecue restaurant, feeling a surge of unease, like the oppressive atmosphere before a storm. He whispered, "Could this restaurant really be connected to the missing woman's case and those terrifying rumors? Regardless, we can't let our guard down."
Old Chen tightened his gear, which matched his serious expression, and responded seriously: "There is an indescribable weirdness in this place. Everyone should be smart when we go in and don't miss any clues." His eyes were as sharp as an eagle, ready to detect any abnormalities at any time.
Professor Li pushed his glasses, and the lenses reflected a cold light, his eyes full of thought: "Let's observe the situation in the store first. From the environment, people to ingredients, there may be clues hidden." He was like a rigorous scientist, not missing any possible details.
Xiao Zhao swallowed, and although he was a little scared, he pretended to be calm. He patted his chest and said, "Don't worry, Captain, I will pay close attention." However, his slightly trembling voice still revealed his inner nervousness.
The four entered the barbecue restaurant, where a warm atmosphere, accompanied by the aroma of barbecue, filled the air. The decor was reminiscent of Korean culture, with neatly arranged wooden tables and chairs. Traditional Korean murals and posters of celebrities adorned the walls. The figures in the murals seemed to watch over everything inside, while the smiles on the celebrity posters seemed particularly eerie to the four. The restaurant was already crowded, mostly students from a nearby university. They gathered around the grill, laughing and chatting, enjoying their meals, oblivious to the danger lurking around them.
Lin Yu and the others found a corner seat, offering a commanding view of most of the restaurant without attracting attention. After ordering their signature barbecue, they quietly observed their surroundings. The owner, a tall Korean man with a stern face and a glint of mystery in his eyes, bustled about the restaurant, sometimes greeting customers in fluent Chinese, sometimes visiting the kitchen. Each movement seemed efficient, but to the four of them, this efficiency seemed to conceal a hidden secret.
"Look at that shop owner. I always feel that there is something wrong with his eyes, as if he is hiding some secret." Xiao Zhao lowered his voice and spoke close to his teammates, secretly glancing at the shop owner with his eyes full of vigilance.
Old Chen nodded slightly, his eyes fixed on the shop owner, and said softly, "Well, his behavior seems normal, but I always feel that it is a bit deliberate, as if he is deliberately creating a normal atmosphere. Just like the calm surface of a lake, there may be turbulent undercurrents."
