Lin Yu and the others pressed themselves tightly against the crack in the warehouse door, their eyes fixed on every move inside, not daring to breathe. The dim light inside the warehouse was like a strange veil, blurring the vision but perfectly outlining the contours of the huge freezers. They stood quietly in the darkness, like sleeping beasts, emitting bursts of chilling cold air, as if silently telling unknown secrets.
Old Chen slowly reached out and gently grasped the handle of the freezer door. The cold touch sent a shiver through him. He took a deep breath, trying to suppress the rising fear within him, and then slowly opened the door. Instantly, a strong, pungent cold air, wrapped in a foul stench, assaulted them, like a ferocious beast, lunging at them with bared fangs and claws, nearly suffocating them. A white mist suddenly emerged like a ghost, quickly spreading and obscuring everyone's vision. The entire warehouse seemed to be transported into a terrifying world of ice and snow.
When the fog cleared slightly, Old Chen peered inside and saw several blocky objects wrapped in black plastic bags in the freezer. They lay quietly, emitting an indescribable, eerie aura. Fighting back the churning in his stomach and the fear in his heart, Old Chen reached out and picked up one. Condensation dripped from the plastic bag along his fingers, dripping onto the ground with a crisp yet eerie sound that echoed in the near-deathly silent warehouse, like some ominous omen.
"What...what is this?" Xiao Zhao leaned in, his voice trembling like a leaf in the autumn wind, his teeth chattering. His eyes widened, filled with fear and anxiety, his heart pounding in his chest, as if it was about to burst. At this moment, he felt as if he were in a nightmare, unable to wake up.
Old Chen slowly opened the plastic bag, revealing a piece of meat. The texture was delicate and soft, very similar to the meat you'd find at a barbecue restaurant. However, upon closer inspection, the meat exuded an indescribable strangeness. The surface of the meat seemed to have a faint, unnatural sheen, and the veins seemed to conceal countless pairs of eyes, coldly gazing down upon them. "Could it be... that this is really the meat of those missing women?" Old Chen's voice trembled slightly. He couldn't believe what he saw, but the various signs forced him to think in this terrifying direction. His heart was filled with anger and fear, anger at the possible cruelty of the crime, and fear at the unknown danger lurking behind it.
Professor Li frowned and pulled a small testing device from his pocket. It gleamed faintly in the dim light. His hand trembled slightly as he gently scraped a sample from the flesh and placed it in the device for testing. The device emitted a soft hum, seemingly breaking the suffocating silence and tightening everyone's nerves. Everyone stared at the screen nervously, their eyes unblinking, as if the slightest distraction would lead to missing some crucial information.
"The test results show that the DNA sequence of this meat is extremely abnormal, completely different from ordinary meat, and..." Professor Li's face turned as white as paper, without a trace of blood, and his lips trembled slightly, "and it seems to be mixed with human genetic components." Upon hearing this result, everyone felt a chill running from the soles of their feet to their hearts, as if a basin of cold water was poured from head to toe, and the blood in their bodies instantly solidified.
"This is horrible! Who is this shop owner? Why would he do this?" Xiao Zhao exclaimed in horror, his eyes wide and his face filled with fear. His mind involuntarily flashed back to the tragic experiences of the missing women, and he felt a surge of sympathy for the victims and anger towards the murderer. At this moment, he desperately hoped that this was just a nightmare, and that everything would return to normal when he woke up.
Lin Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, but his slightly trembling body betrayed his inner nervousness. "No matter who he is, we must uncover the truth and bring him to justice. Now let's gather evidence first, and then find a way to catch him." Lin Yu's eyes revealed a firm and resolute expression. He knew that as a member of Bureau 749, he shouldered the mission of upholding justice and uncovering the truth. No matter how difficult or dangerous the situation, he could not retreat.
Just as they were about to continue searching the warehouse for more evidence, they suddenly heard footsteps outside. The footsteps echoed through the silent alley, approaching from afar, each step seeming to weigh heavily on everyone's heart. Startled, they immediately extinguished their lights and quickly hid behind the freezer. Darkness instantly engulfed them, the air around them frozen. They could clearly hear their own pounding heartbeats and heavy breathing.
The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and the warehouse door was opened again. A beam of dim light shone in from outside the door, forming an irregular spot of light on the ground. Lin Yu peeked through the gap in the freezer, only to see the owner walking in with several men in black. The owner's face was as gloomy as the sky before a storm, and his eyes revealed vigilance and suspicion. He whispered, "It seems like someone is following me today. You all should be careful and don't show your tracks. The situation has been tense recently, and we must be more cautious in our actions." His voice was low and cold, as if it was a messenger from hell, which made people shudder.
The men in black nodded, and one of them said in a hoarse voice, "Boss, don't worry, we'll be alright. We've almost finished processing the women's meat. When will the next batch arrive?" Hearing this, Lin Yu and the others were furious. They wanted to rush out and subdue these people immediately and seek justice for those innocent victims. But Lin Yu knew that now was not the time. They needed to wait for a better opportunity to catch these people in one fell swoop.
