As the group continued forward, the fog seemed to shift its form, intentionally or unintentionally. Sometimes it drifted slowly around them like a soft veil, blurring their vision; other times, it pressed tightly against them like thick cotton wool, making breathing difficult. Lin Yu's brow remained furrowed, his heart filled with vigilance. Every shift in the fog set his nerves on edge. He knew that beneath this seemingly calm mist, a deadly danger could lurk at any moment.
Ouyang Zhenghao wiped the sweat from his forehead and whispered, "This ghost fog seems to be alive and has been staring at us. I don't know how many dangers are waiting for us ahead." Although his voice was calm, the slightly trembling tone still revealed a hint of worry.
The atmosphere in the group was particularly oppressive. Everyone walked cautiously, their eyes fixed on everything around them. Suddenly, a member at the end of the group whispered, "Do you feel like something is following us? I keep getting a chill down my back."
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone's hearts trembled. They tightened their grips on their weapons and turned to look. But apart from the still eerie fog, they could see nothing. Lin Yu said, "Don't scare yourself, but don't let your guard down either. This Yellow Springs Road is too strange, and anything could happen."
As they went deeper, the surroundings became increasingly eerie. The bark of the trees began to become mottled, taking on an eerie grayish-white hue, with the faint outlines of human faces appearing on them, as if silently telling something. Ouyang Zhenghao looked at the trees and felt a chill in his heart: "Why do these trees look so creepy? It feels like countless pairs of eyes are watching us."
Lin Yu couldn't help but shudder, but he pretended to be calm and said, "Maybe the power of the Yellow Spring Road has affected these trees. Everyone, keep moving forward and stay alert."
At this moment, a wide expanse suddenly appeared ahead, covered in strange symbols and patterns. These symbols and patterns loomed in the mist, exuding a mysterious and ancient aura. Lin Yu squatted down and carefully examined the symbols, trying to find some clues.
"These symbols seem to be similar to some mysterious runes we have seen in ancient books before, but they are not exactly the same." Lin Yu said with a frown.
Ouyang Zhenghao also came over, took a look and said, "Could it be related to the secret of the Yellow Springs Road? Perhaps it's some kind of hint, or a warning."
Just as they were thinking, they suddenly heard a sharp cry, like the sound of metal grinding against metal. The sound came from the other side of the open space, echoing in the fog, making people feel eerie. Everyone stood up immediately and took full precautions.
Slowly emerging from the mist, a group of short creatures emerged. They were only as tall as an adult's knees, their bodies a dark green, their skin covered in a layer of hard scales that shimmered eerily in the dim light. Their eyes were large, round, and glowed a faint blue. Their mouths were filled with sharp teeth, and they emitted a strange, giggling sound.
"What kind of monsters are these?" a team member asked in horror.
Lin Yu took a deep breath and said, "No matter what it is, everyone, prepare to fight. These monsters look difficult to deal with, so be careful."
The group of small creatures laughed strangely as they quickly rushed towards the group. They were extremely fast and were in front of them in an instant. The team members immediately brandished their weapons and engaged in a fierce battle with these monsters.
Although these monsters were small in stature, they were extremely agile. They moved freely between the team members' legs and attacked continuously. One team member was accidentally bitten by a monster, and a sharp pain came from his leg. He couldn't help but scream.
Seeing this, Lin Yu was extremely anxious. While fighting the monsters, he shouted, "Everyone, cooperate with each other! Don't fight alone! Concentrate your firepower and repel these monsters first!"
Ouyang Zhenghao roared, brandishing his weapon with great force, constantly repelling the approaching monsters. However, these monsters were numerous and kept coming, and the group gradually fell into a difficult situation.
During the fierce battle, Lin Yu discovered that these monsters seemed to be afraid of fire. Whenever the flames on the weapons approached them, they would quickly retreat. He suddenly had an idea and shouted to his team members: "Use fire! These monsters are afraid of fire!"
Upon hearing this, the team members pulled out their flamethrowers and unleashed streams of flame at the monsters. Under the onslaught of the flames, the monsters let out a shrill cry and retreated. Seizing this opportunity, the team increased their firepower and finally drove the monsters back.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as the monsters disappeared into the mist. But they knew this was just another test on the Yellow Springs Road, and more unknown dangers awaited them ahead. Lin Yu looked at the exhausted team members and said, "Everyone, take a break. We'll continue on our journey. We must uncover the secrets of this Yellow Springs Road."
The team members nodded in agreement. They knew there was no turning back now. They could only bravely move forward and face the unknown hidden deep within the fog...
After a brief rest, the group embarked on another journey filled with uncertainty. The fog still hung thickly around them, like an invisible ghost, following them closely. Lin Yu walked at the front of the group, his eyes firm and alert, constantly observing his surroundings, trying to grasp a clue from this eerie atmosphere.
As they went deeper, the temperature seemed to drop even further. A chill seeped through the gaps in their clothing, causing them to shiver. Ouyang Zhenghao tightened his clothes and said, "The temperature has dropped so dramatically. It feels like walking into an ice cellar. What kind of place is this Yellow Springs Road? Why is it so eerie?"
