749: Exploring the Secrets of the Yellow Spring Road at Wawu Mountain (Part 2)
After experiencing the sacrifice of their teammates, Lin Yu and the others felt particularly heavy-hearted, but their determination to uncover the secrets of Huangquan Road grew even stronger. The fog on the other side of the river grew thicker, like a huge gray curtain, weighing heavily on everyone's hearts, as if foreshadowing that even more terrifying unknowns awaited them ahead.
Lin Yu took a deep breath, suppressed the grief in his heart, and looked at the remaining team members with a firm gaze: "We can't stop, our teammates' sacrifice cannot be in vain, we must find out the secret of this Yellow Springs Road and give them an explanation." The team members nodded one after another, with a light of grief and determination flashing in their eyes.
Continuing along the path on the opposite bank, the trees around us became increasingly twisted and hideous. Branches resembled countless pairs of withered arms, waving in the wind, as if trying to drag us into endless darkness. The ground beneath our feet also became soft and muddy, and every step was accompanied by a "puffing" sound, as if the earth itself were groaning in pain.
Ouyang Zhenghao looked around vigilantly and whispered, "Lin Yu, this place feels even more eerie and terrifying than before. It seems like countless pairs of eyes are staring at us in the dark. I'm sweating coldly on my back." He gripped his weapon tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force.
Lin Yu frowned, his heart also filled with anxiety, but he knew that he had to stabilize the morale of the troops at this moment: "Everyone, be vigilant. The deeper you go into the Yellow Springs Road, the more dangerous it is. Any slight movement may be fatal." As he spoke, he paid attention to the movements around him, not missing any details.
Suddenly, an ancient memorial archway appeared ahead, engraved with bizarre runes and patterns. The runes shimmered faintly, as if telling an ancient and mysterious story. On the archway's crossbar, two large, blood-red characters, "Huangquan," stood out, exuding a chilling aura.
Lin Yu looked at the archway, feeling a strong sense of unease. "This archway looks very old. The runes and patterns on it must be hiding important information, but this eerie aura... I'm afraid we're about to enter an even more dangerous area."
Ouyang Zhenghao walked forward and carefully observed the runes on the archway, trying to find some clues. "These runes seem to be related to the ones I saw before, but they are more complicated. They feel like some kind of warning or seal."
As everyone was studying the archway, a chilling wind blew past, carrying with it a pungent, rancid odor, as if it had blown from the depths of hell. Everyone shuddered, their fear growing stronger.
"Captain, why do I feel like something is approaching?" a team member said nervously, his eyes full of fear and his body trembling slightly.
Lin Yu signaled for everyone to be quiet and listen carefully. Sure enough, a faint rustling sound came from the front, as if countless insects were crawling. As the sound grew closer, everyone saw a group of skeleton-like creatures slowly crawling out of the mist. They had no flesh, only white skeletons, and their eye sockets flickered with green flames, emitting a creepy "cackling" sound.
"What...what kind of monster is this?" a team member shouted in horror, unconsciously clenching the weapon in his hand.
Lin Yu quickly analyzed the situation, knowing full well that these monsters were not friendly. "Everyone, don't panic. Maintain a defensive formation! Although these monsters look terrifying, we must not be frightened. Pay attention to their patterns of movement and look for flaws."
The swarm of skeletons swarmed towards the group, their speed so fast that they were in front of them in an instant. The team members brandished their weapons and engaged in a fierce battle with the skeletons. The weapons struck the skeletons, making a "crackling" sound and sending up sparks, but the skeletons seemed tireless and continued their frantic attack.
During the battle, Lin Yu discovered that the skeletons' joints were relatively weak, and each attack slowed their movements. He shouted, "Attack their joints! This is their weak spot!" Upon hearing this, the team members changed their attack strategy and concentrated their firepower on the skeletons' joints.
After a fierce battle, everyone finally repelled the group of skeleton creatures. Looking at the skeletons scattered on the ground, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, but the fear in their hearts did not ease.
"These monsters are too scary. It feels like the Yellow Springs Road is a horrible hell with dangers everywhere." A team member said with lingering fear.
Lin Yu looked at the team members and encouraged them, "Everyone is very brave. We have come this far and must not retreat. Every time we overcome danger, we are one step closer to the truth."
The group continued forward, passing through the memorial archway before them, and a vast palace appeared before them. The palace was magnificent, yet it exuded a sense of decay and gloom. The palace's gates were tightly closed, engraved with runes and patterns similar to those on the memorial archway, as if guarding the secrets within.
Lin Yu looked at the palace and felt a strong premonition in his heart: "Perhaps the core secret of the Yellow Springs Road is hidden here. Everyone, be careful. There may be even more powerful dangers hidden in the palace."
Ouyang Zhenghao walked forward and tried to push the door, but it didn't budge. "This door seems to be sealed by some force. How can we get in?"
Lin Yu carefully observed the runes on the door, trying to find a way to unlock the seal. Suddenly, he noticed that the order of several runes was similar to the pattern he had seen on the stone. With an idea in mind, he pressed the runes on the door one by one, following the order of the pattern.
