749 The Qinling Mountains (Part 1)
In 2007, beneath the glittering, bustling, and dazzling lights of Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient, lay a turbulent undercurrent. Amidst the towering skyscrapers, a company called Yifeng Co., Ltd. quietly incorporated, like a seed planted in the darkness, waiting for its chance to take root and sprout.
The company's owner is a Chinese-American named Chen Yu, with deep, seemingly calm eyes that seem to conceal endless secrets, like a bottomless pool. He stands tall and straight, his every gesture exuding an indescribable air of mystery. His wife, Sakurako Matsumoto, is Japanese, and beneath her gentle exterior lies a hidden inner world. Her father, Ichiro Matsumoto, is a core member of the renowned Matsu Corporation in Japan, a figure who holds a profound influence in both Japanese business and the occult. Chen Yu displays an uncanny fascination with the ancient Chinese culture of the I Ching, often immersing himself in its arcane hexagrams, feng shui theories, and the mysterious doctrine of yin and yang, as if searching for some unknown power.
Time slipped by quietly, and four years later, in 2011, Yifeng International Real Estate Co., Ltd. made an unexpected entrance into mainland China. While many real estate companies focused their attention on booming cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, teeming with business opportunities, Yifeng took a different approach, targeting the relatively isolated and mysterious Qinling Mountains, planning a massive construction project to build high-end villas.
The news, like a boulder dropped into a tranquil lake, sent ripples through the region. The Qinling Mountains, this ancient mountain range stretching across the vast land of China, bears witness to thousands of years of Chinese civilization and harbors countless legends and secrets. Its rolling hills resemble a giant dragon slumbering beneath the earth, tranquil and profound. Now, the unbridled intrusion of a foreign company has shattered this tranquility, like an uninvited guest disturbing a slumbering beast.
On the day the project began, the construction site was completely sealed off like an iron wall. Tall, cold fences rose from the ground, completely isolating the site from the outside world. A striking sign, "Construction Site, No Entry," was emblazoned on the fence. The white letters on a red background stood out, as if declaring the site inviolable. Curious and puzzled, local villagers tried to get closer to investigate, but were invariably met with ruthless vetoes by the menacing security guards. They could only stand outside the fence, watching the constant roar of machinery and the rising dust, their doubts growing like weeds.
Even more eerie was the layout of the villas under construction, occasionally glimpsed through the cracks in the fences. Their arrangement was completely chaotic, a stark departure from familiar architectural layouts. Rather, it resembled some mysterious and eerie formation. The silhouettes of the villas loomed in the mountains, like dormant giant beasts, radiating an indescribable strangeness. In the afterglow of the setting sun, the villas' shadows stretched out long, like the claws of a demon, stretching wantonly across the earth, a chilling feeling.
Soon, this bizarre incident spread like wildfire, reaching the ears of Bureau 749. Like a sharp hunter, Bureau 749, a specialized unit specializing in supernatural and mysterious incidents, instantly detected the complex conspiracy behind this incident. Experienced and battle-hardened members, including Lin Yu and Ouyang Zhenghao, quickly formed an investigation team and, bearing this mission and responsibility, headed for the Qinling Mountains without stopping.
As the investigation team's vehicle drove along the winding mountain road toward the Qinling Mountains, the sky gradually darkened. The inky sky, like a vast curtain, weighed heavily upon the group. The distant mountains loomed in the twilight, as if harboring countless unknown dangers. A thin layer of mist lingered among the mountains, adding a touch of mystery and eerie atmosphere to the entire area. The mist drifted slowly on the breeze, like a veil, gently obscuring the secrets of the Qinling Mountains.
Lin Yu sat in the car, looking out the window at the mysterious mountain area gradually approaching, his brows furrowed, thinking to himself: "Why would a real estate company go to so much trouble to build villas in this deep forest, and seal off the construction site so mysteriously? What ulterior motive is hidden behind this? Is it really related to the mysterious Feng Shui formation as rumored?" Thinking of this, his eyes became more solemn.
Ouyang Zhenghao sat next to Lin Yu, scratched his head, and broke the silence in the car, muttering, "Lin Yu, this matter is inexplicably strange. What kind of real estate company would leave the fat meat of the big city and go to this remote Qinling mountain area to build villas, and make it look like a military restricted area. I think there must be something fishy going on here."
Lin Yu nodded slightly and said, "Yes, there are too many strange things here. We can't take it lightly and must act with caution. Let's first find a way to enter the construction site and find out what they are doing."
After much searching, the investigation team finally gained access to the construction site. The moment they stepped foot inside, an oppressive, eerie atmosphere overwhelmed them. A light layer of dust hung over the site, and under the dim light, it seemed to come alive, dancing freely in the air. Construction materials lay haphazardly piled around them, as if manipulated by some invisible force. Huge rebar, like twisted monsters, pointed skyward with bared fangs and claws; piles of bricks, like soldiers awaiting awakening, lay silently in formation.
Lin Yu and his team cautiously navigated the construction site, discovering that every foundation had been driven into the ground, piles over ten meters deep. The piles were densely packed, like a steel forest, piercing the earth. Lin Yu crouched down and examined one of the piles, only to see it covered in strange symbols and patterns. These symbols resembled words, yet not pictures, exuding a mysterious and ancient aura. He was startled. Drawing on his deep knowledge of feng shui formations, he immediately realized that this might be the legendary "Wind and Thunder 72 Fixed Formation," also known as the "Dragon Trapping Formation." This formation is extremely dangerous, having been documented in ancient feng shui texts. Once successfully deployed, it was said to influence or even control the direction of the dragon vein. In traditional Chinese culture, the dragon vein symbolizes the nation's fortune and foundation, its lifeblood, and must not be compromised.
