749 Qinling Storm (Part 2)
Hearing the sudden, noisy sound of footsteps outside the villa, Lin Yu and Ouyang Zhenghao exchanged a glance, a look that conveyed tension and determination. Lin Yu nodded slightly and said in a very low voice, "It seems we've been discovered. Let's find a place to hide and wait and see what happens." Everyone immediately moved quickly like ghosts, hiding in the dark corners of the hall. They held their breath, their heartbeats seemed to be magnified several times in the silence.
Soon, a group of men dressed in black poured into the villa's lobby like a black tide. The already dim light within the hall was now dimmed even further by their presence. Shadows danced freely on the walls, like a group of demons baring their fangs and claws. Leading the group was a tall, thin man. Moonlight filtered through the cracks in the window, framing his features as cold as ice. His eyes held a sinister glint, as if they could see through the darkness. Beside him stood a shorter man wearing glasses, his lenses reflecting an eerie gleam in the dim light. He clutched something resembling an ancient tome, its cover old and yellowed, emitting a faint, decayed air, as if containing countless untold secrets. He leaned close to the tall man's ear, whispering something, his voice as tinny as a mosquito's, yet piercing the silence of the hall.
Lin Yu hid in the shadows, squinting his eyes as he carefully observed the group, speculating in his heart, "That tall, thin man has a strong aura, so he must be their leader. And the one with the ancient book, judging by how much he values it and his pretentious demeanor, is most likely a Feng Shui master, specializing in the arrangement of formations. What secret scheme are they planning?"
The tall and thin man slowly looked around, his brows tightly furrowed like two tangled poisonous snakes, and said dissatisfiedly: "What's going on? I clearly felt that an outsider had broken in just now. Was it our illusion? But this breath is definitely not an illusion. Someone must have sneaked in." His voice was low and cold, as if it came from the Nine Nether Hell, with an unquestionable majesty.
The man with glasses pushed his glasses on the bridge of his nose, his eyes flashing with a strange light behind the lenses, and said: "Mr. Matsumoto, perhaps we are too cautious. However, this 'Wind and Thunder 72 Fixed Formation' is about to be completed. This formation is of great importance, and we must be extremely careful and cannot afford any mistakes. Once the formation is activated, with the help of the power of the intersection of yin and yang between heaven and earth, we can keep a close eye on the Chinese dragon vein and change its course. By then, hehe..." A smug and sinister smile appeared on his face. The smile looked particularly hideous in the dim light, as if he had seen the scene after the conspiracy succeeded.
Ouyang Zhenghao hid in the dark, clenching his fists in anger, his knuckles turning white from the force. He cursed in a low voice: "These bastards really have evil intentions! They dared to try to destroy our country's dragon veins, they deserve to be killed!" His eyes seemed to be spewing fire as he stared at the group of men in black, wishing he could rush out and tear them into pieces.
Lin Yu quickly signaled him to calm down, his eyes still fixed on the group of people, and continued to listen.
The tall and thin Mr. Matsumoto nodded slightly, a fierce look flashing in his eyes, and said: "You are right. This is our plan for many years, and we have invested countless efforts and resources. We must not fail. By the way, how are the remaining key points of the formation prepared? Midnight is about to come, and this is the best time to activate the formation." There was a hint of anxiety in his voice. He paced back and forth, and his footsteps made a dull sound on the ground, as if it was a countdown to death.
The man with glasses nodded hurriedly and said, "Don't worry, Mr. Matsumoto, everything is ready. All the key points of the formation have been arranged. We just need to wait for midnight tonight, when the yin and yang of heaven and earth converge and the yin energy is at its peak, then we can completely activate the formation. By then, China's dragon veins will be under our control, and they will never be able to turn over!" His tone was full of fanaticism and excitement, as if he had already seen the scene of China falling into chaos.
Lin Yu was startled and thought to himself, "We must stop them before they activate the formation. There's not much time left until midnight, and every minute and every second is crucial. We must find a solution as soon as possible. But they are numerous and well-prepared. A head-on confrontation is not a wise move. We must find another strategy."
Just then, a man in black rushed in, looking panicked and shouting, "Mr. Matsumoto, this is bad! We've found some strange traces around the construction site. It looks like someone is secretly investigating us. These traces are very recent and must have been left not long ago."
Mr. Matsumoto's face instantly turned as gloomy as ink, and he shouted angrily: "What? It must be that China's special department has noticed our actions. These troublesome guys! Increase vigilance immediately, and everyone enters the first level combat readiness state. We must not let anyone ruin our plan! No matter what the cost!" His voice echoed in the hall like thunder, making everyone's eardrums hurt.
Lin Yu knew the situation had reached a critical juncture; they could no longer sit idly by. He glanced at Ouyang Zhenghao and the others, his eyes filled with determination and courage, and said in a low and hurried voice, "We can't just sit there and wait for death. We have to take the initiative. We'll find a way to break out and destroy the core of their formation, preventing it from activating. This is our only chance, success or failure depends on it! Everyone, be careful and follow my instructions."
Everyone nodded, their eyes revealing firm determination, like warriors about to go to the battlefield, ready to die.
While the men in black frantically set up defenses in the hall, their attention distracted, Lin Yu gave the command, "Attack!" Like tigers, the men from Bureau 749 leaped from the shadows, determined to fight to the death, engaging the men in black in a fierce battle. The hall erupted in shouts and cries of murder, tables and chairs were overturned, dust billowed, and the once silent hall instantly transformed into a battlefield.
