Chapter 435: Uncovering the Mystery of Pan Bowen's Disappearance in Tianjin (Part 2)

Uncovering the Mystery of Pan Bowen's Disappearance in Tianjin (Part 2)

Hearing the sudden, ghostly whispering rustling, Lin Yu and the others were instantly alert. Their muscles tensed, their nerves like strings stretched to their limit, ready to snap at the slightest touch. Lin Yu quickly raised his hand to signal for silence. He gripped the flashlight tightly, the cool metallic texture radiating from his palm as if it were the only thing keeping him calm. The flashlight's dim light flickered in the darkness, like a candle in the wind, seemingly ready to be completely swallowed by the unknown darkness at any moment.

"That sound... seems to be coming from that pile of debris over there," Ouyang Zhenghao said in a low voice, his eyes fixed on the direction of the debris pile, revealing an unconcealable tension and fear. He unconsciously clenched the weapon in his hand, his knuckles turning white from the force, gleaming coldly in the dim light.

Lin Yu nodded slightly, signaling Ouyang Zhenghao and Shen Yao to follow him. The three of them approached the pile of debris cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution, as if the slightest mistake would trigger a terrifying mechanism hidden in the darkness. As they approached, the rustling sound became clearer, as if something was slowly moving under the cover of darkness, and each subtle sound was like a hammer hitting their hearts. Lin Yu's heartbeat became increasingly rapid, and he could even clearly hear his own heartbeat echoing in the silent basement, as if the sound was keeping a tense rhythm for their actions in the darkness.

When they finally approached the pile of debris, Lin Yu suddenly shone his flashlight on it. A rat darted out in terror, its eyes gleaming eerily in the light, its fur matted and filthy. The rat vanished into the darkness like a flash, leaving behind only a slight movement and the sound of everyone's rapid breathing.

"Huh...it turned out to be a rat." Ouyang Zhenghao breathed a sigh of relief, his tense body relaxing a little, and his grip on the weapon loosened a bit. However, a hint of fear still lingered on his face.

Lin Yu, however, didn't relax at all. His eyes continued to scan the surroundings vigilantly, as if guarding against the next unknown danger that might appear at any time. "Everyone, don't let your guard down. This place has a strange atmosphere. Don't let your guard down just because of a rat. This might just be the beginning. The real danger may still be to come." Lin Yu's voice was low and serious, like a warning bell in the darkness, ringing in everyone's ears.

Chen Yao nodded, her gaze once again fixed on the symbol on the wall, a look of deep thought in her eyes. "This symbol is crucial. I've never seen anything like it before. It might be connected to some mysterious ritual or power, perhaps explaining Pan Bowen's disappearance and the alteration of everyone's memories. But there are so many mysteries behind this, and every clue is like a fog, elusive." Chen Yao pushed her glasses up on her nose. Behind the lenses, her eyes gleamed with intelligence, yet also a hint of confusion.

Lin Yu carefully examined the symbol, trying to find some clue to unravel the tangled web of doubts within him. "The lines of this symbol appear disorganized, yet they seem to follow a certain pattern. Could it be ancient writing, or perhaps the symbol of a formation? If it's writing, what message does it convey? If it's a formation symbol, what purpose does it serve?" Lin Yu frowned, pondering silently, countless hypotheses swirling in his mind.

As they concentrated on studying the symbols, the temperature in the basement suddenly dropped dramatically. A bone-chilling chill washed over them from all sides, as if pairs of icy hands were quietly reaching out to their bodies, trying to drain away their warmth bit by bit. Everyone shuddered, their breath instantly condensing into a white mist in the air.

"What's going on? The temperature dropped so suddenly." Ouyang Zhenghao said in surprise, with a hint of trembling in his voice. On the one hand, it was because of the cold, and on the other hand, he was afraid of this sudden change.

Lin Yu realized the situation was dire, and a sense of foreboding washed over him. "Oh no! There might be danger approaching. Everyone, stand back to back and stay alert!" Lin Yu responded quickly, his voice firm and powerful, trying to convey confidence to his teammates while also maintaining his composure in this extremely tense atmosphere.

As the temperature dropped, a thin mist filled the basement. Like a ghost, it spread silently, gradually enveloping the entire basement. Within the mist, blurry shadows appeared, distorted and distorted, like struggling souls, silently crying out in the darkness.

"What is that?" Chen Yao said in horror, pointing at the lights and shadows, her voice trembling slightly with fear. The lights and shadows appeared and disappeared in the mist, sometimes clear, sometimes blurry, as if they were deliberately keeping a mysterious distance from them, yet they also made them feel deeply threatened.

Lin Yu stared intently at the shadows, trying to discern their true form, but the fog obscured only vague outlines. "I don't know, but it feels dangerous. Everyone, be careful not to get too close to them. If they have malicious intent, we must react immediately." Lin Yu's eyes revealed a mixture of vigilance and determination. He knew that in this uncertain environment, any negligence could have fatal consequences.

The shadows moved slowly through the mist, their movements slow and eerie, as if following some mysterious rhythm. With each step closer, the air grew colder, and their breaths transformed into a white mist that spread before them, merging with the mist in the basement. Suddenly, a shadowy figure lunged towards Ouyang Zhenghao, its speed as swift as a bolt of black lightning streaking through the night sky.
