Uncovering the Mystery of Pan Bowen's Disappearance in Tianjin (Part 2)
The light of the symbol drawn by Chen Yao grew stronger, spreading through the basement like a substance, dispersing the thick, inky fog. The shadows that had once been threatening and aggressive now twisted and struggled in agony, emitting sharp hisses before gradually becoming blurred. Seeing this, Lin Yu felt a flicker of hope. It seemed that this mysterious symbol indeed held special power, perhaps the key to resolving their current predicament. However, a lingering worry remained within him: could this light completely repel the strange shadows, or would it trigger even more terrifying events?
However, before the dawn of hope could fully illuminate the darkness, a sharp, piercing whistle suddenly erupted from the basement. Like an invisible blade, the sound pierced everyone's eardrums, leaving their heads buzzing as if struck by a sledgehammer. Along with the whistling, the fog spread even more violently, thicker and denser than before, as if transforming the entire basement into a chaotic, isolated space. The light and shadows, which had been gradually dissipating, suddenly became clear again, becoming even more ferocious and terrifying. They rushed towards Lin Yu and his companions frantically, with speed as fast as black lightning streaking through the night sky.
"No, this seems to have angered them!" Chen Yao screamed in horror, her eyes filled with fear. Lin Yu's brain was working rapidly under extreme tension, and he quickly made a judgment: "We can't just sit there and wait for death. We must continue to search for a solution. Everyone, pay attention to your surroundings. Any subtle clues may be the key to our escape from this predicament!" He knew that they must not panic at this moment. If they lost their composure, what awaited them would be an abyss of no return.
Amidst the frantic onslaught of light and shadow, everyone searched for clues. Lin Yu's gaze swept through the basement like a hawk, leaving no corner untouched. Suddenly, he spotted the faint outline of a door at the far end of the basement, obscured by the fog and debris. Previously, due to the dimness of the environment, the door had gone unnoticed. "Look at that door! Perhaps the answer lies within," Lin Yu shouted, pointing at it, his voice tinged with excitement and eagerness.
Ouyang Zhenghao desperately dodged the attacks of the light and shadows, shouting, "But how do we get past them? They're constantly haunting us, and we can't shake them off!" His face was filled with anxiety, and he waved his weapon relentlessly, trying to block the light and shadows' approach, but with little success. The light and shadows seemed to possess endless power, repeatedly breaking through his defenses, leaving him feeling an unprecedented sense of despair.
Chen Yao suddenly had an idea. She shouted, "Use symbols to temporarily trap them. I'll draw a few more, and you guys can seize the opportunity to rush to the door. This is the only way!" She quickly pulled a special tool from her bag. It glowed with a strange light, as if imbued with mysterious power. She crouched down and quickly drew symbols on the ground, similar to those on the wall. The moment the symbols were completed, a dazzling light emanated, acting like a solid barrier, temporarily blocking the frantic onrushing lights and shadows. However, the lights and shadows continued to impact the barrier, making a chilling sound, and the barrier began to flicker, as if it would break at any moment.
"Hurry up!" Lin Yu shouted, and the three of them rushed towards the door without hesitation. When they arrived at the door, they found that it was covered with symbols similar to those on the wall. These symbols were densely packed and intertwined, as if forming a mysterious painting. Lin Yu tried to push the door, but it did not budge, as if it had merged with the wall of the basement. Ouyang Zhenghao said anxiously: "This door can't be opened, what should we do? If we don't think of a way, once the barrier is broken, those lights and shadows will rush in again!" There was a hint of despair in his voice, and beads of sweat kept rolling down his forehead.
Chen Yao carefully studied the symbols on the door, her eyes focused and determined, trying to find a way to decipher these complex symbols. "These symbols might be a combination lock, requiring a specific sequence to trigger," she said, her mind racing through the patterns of symbols she had seen before. As she spoke, light and shadows from outside the barrier continuously impacted it, emitting a chilling sound. The barrier began to flicker, threatening to break at any moment.
Chen Yao was terrified, sweat beading her forehead, her heart racing as if it would burst through her chest. She knew time was running out, every second crucial. Her gaze darted back and forth between the symbols on the door, searching for order amidst the chaos. Suddenly, her eyes lit up, as if she had discovered something. "I think I know the order!" Chen Yao said, her voice tinged with nervousness and excitement. She touched the symbols on the door in a certain order, and as she did so, the door opened with a dull thud.
Behind the door was a small, narrow space, with a faintly glowing crystal ball in the center. A strange liquid surrounded the crystal ball, emitting a faint fragrance that made one feel dizzy. Lin Yu eyed the crystal ball warily, a strong sense of unease welling up in his heart. "This thing looks sinister; it might be the root cause of Pan Bowen's disappearance. But how exactly does it manage to make someone vanish from reality and memory? What secrets lie behind this?" Lin Yu pondered, his brow furrowed.
At that moment, the barrier shattered, and light and shadows poured in. Lin Yu shouted, "Never mind anything else for now. Destroy this crystal ball and see if we can undo all this." Ouyang Zhenghao raised his weapon and smashed it at the crystal ball. The crystal ball cracked with a resounding sound, and the faint light vanished instantly. As the crystal ball shattered, the light and shadows dissipated along with it. The temperature in the basement began to rise, and the mist gradually dissipated.
