The Ancient Yunnan Cave Magic Battle Incident (Part 2)
The huge sound coming from the depths of the cave was like a dull war drum, beating everyone's nerves one after another. The sound resonated back and forth in the narrow cave, as if the entire cave had become a huge resonance box, infinitely amplifying every trace of fear. Lin Yu and others instantly felt as if they were facing a great enemy. Their muscles were tense and their nerves were stretched to the limit, as if they would break at the slightest touch. Lin Yu quickly raised his hand to signal everyone to keep quiet. His eyes were as sharp as a falcon, fixed tightly on the depths of darkness, trying to penetrate the endless darkness and capture any signs of impending danger. At this moment, his heartbeat accelerated sharply, and his heart was beating wildly in his chest, as if it was about to burst through his chest. He knew that unknown danger was approaching step by step, and every second was crucial.
"What's that sound? It feels like a giant monster is approaching," Ouyang Zhenghao whispered, his voice trembling slightly with nervousness. He unconsciously clenched the weapon in his hand, his knuckles turning white from the force, a cold metallic luster gleaming in the dim light. His eyes were fixed on the direction of the sound, revealing an unconcealable fear and unease, as if a demon lurked in the darkness, capable of devouring them in an instant.
Chen Yao also nervously peered deeper into the cave, clutching her recording tool tightly in her hand as if it were her only hope. Despite her efforts to remain calm, her slightly trembling body betrayed her inner fear. "Whatever it is, we must approach it with caution. It might be related to the secret hidden within the cave. Perhaps it holds the key to solving this whole mystery. We must proceed with caution and not be careless." Her voice was steady, but the slight tremor betrayed her inner nervousness. As the team's expert in mysticism, she knew that in such a situation filled with uncertainty, any negligence could have fatal consequences.
As the noise grew closer, a blurry figure gradually emerged from the darkness. It was massive and twisted, resembling a human form, but with strange limbs and protrusions, as if composed of a patchwork of horrifying elements. It moved with incredible speed, arriving a short distance ahead of the group in the blink of an eye. Each movement was accompanied by a subtle tremor in the cave floor, like the footsteps of death, approaching them step by step.
When the figure fully emerged into the flashlight's glare, everyone gasped. Its entire body was covered in a layer of black scales, gleaming with an icy sheen, like an indestructible armor. Its eyes were huge and hollow, emitting a faint green light, like two will-o'-the-wisp flames burning in the depths of hell, exuding an endless eeriness and strangeness. It opened its bloody mouth, revealing sharp fangs, each as large as a dagger, gleaming with a chilling coldness, as if a single bite could rip anything apart. A faint black mist enveloped its body, from which faint groans of pain and eerie whispers could be heard, as if countless wronged souls were imprisoned.
"What the hell is this?" Ouyang Zhenghao cried out in surprise. The monster before him was completely beyond his comprehension. A deep fear surged into his heart like a tide, nearly drowning him. His mind went blank, leaving only his instinctive fear reaction.
Lin Yu's face was as solemn as the dark clouds before a storm. He stared intently at the monster, his mind racing with intense tension as he pondered a response. "Whatever it is, we can't panic. Let's observe its movements and identify its weaknesses. Panic will only put us in greater danger. We must remain calm; only by remaining calm can we find a way out." Lin Yu tried to maintain a calm voice, conveying confidence to his teammates. He knew that as the core of the team, his performance at this moment would directly impact the morale and actions of his teammates. Yet, he was also filled with worry. The monster before them was powerful and treacherous, and they faced an unprecedented challenge.
The monster, as if aware of their gaze, let out a deafening roar. This roar swept over like a hurricane, carrying with it a pungent, fishy stench that nearly staggered everyone. Then, it lunged at them with such speed that no one could react. Its massive body, like a black cannonball, closed the distance between them. A whirring sound like the roar of death filled the air.
Lin Yu yelled, "Split and hide!" Everyone quickly leaped away in different directions. The monster missed, turned its head in anger, locked onto Ouyang Zhenghao again, and attacked again. Ouyang Zhenghao raised his weapon and slashed at the monster's head. The weapon struck the monster's scales, but only a series of sparks flew, causing no substantial damage. A powerful recoil from the weapon traveled to Ouyang Zhenghao's arm, causing it to go numb and nearly letting the weapon slip out of his hand.
"This monster's scales are too tough! Ordinary attacks are useless against it!" Ouyang Zhenghao shouted, feeling a little anxious. He realized that the enemy before him was far more powerful than they had imagined. Conventional attacks, which they had originally thought would be useless against this monster, filled him with a sense of despair. But he knew he couldn't give up now. He had to work with his teammates to find a way to defeat this monster.
Chen Yao called out, "Lin Yu, we need to find another way. This monster is too powerful, and fighting it head-on isn't the solution. Perhaps we can learn from the symbols in the cave or the surrounding environment to find a way to restrain it. We can't just blindly fight it; we must outsmart it." Chen Yao dodged the monster's occasional attacks while quickly thinking of a response strategy. She knew that sheer force wouldn't solve the current predicament; they needed to use every clue around them to find the monster's weaknesses.
