The Mystery of the Missing Mystery Train (Part 2)
A chilling wind blew through the mountains, and strange sounds echoed in everyone's ears, as if countless wronged souls were weeping in the darkness, or demons hidden in the abyss were roaring softly. Lin Yu and the others were instantly alert, their nerves tense as strings, and their senses were mobilized to the extreme.
Lin Yu knew that in this strange and unpredictable environment, any negligence could lead them to irretrievable doom. "Everyone, stand back to back. Stay alert and don't panic. Times like this require us to think calmly," Lin Yu whispered. His voice was steady, but the slight emphasis on his tone betrayed the gravity of the situation. His heartbeat involuntarily quickened, pounding in his chest as if it were about to burst. However, his years of adventures helped him suppress his fear, and his mind raced, formulating a response.
Chen Yao gripped her recording tool tightly. Though fear surged within her, her instincts as an expert in the occult kept her calm, trying to grasp clues from her surroundings. "This sound doesn't sound natural. Perhaps it's a warning from some supernatural phenomenon, or perhaps a guide to discovery. In ancient legends, such eerie sounds often portend mysterious forces," she said, her voice trembling slightly, but she managed to sound coherent. At this moment, her mind rapidly scanned various occult resources, searching for clues related to the current situation.
Ouyang Zhenghao gripped his weapon tightly, his eyes fixed on the direction of the sound. It was a dense forest, its lush green trees like ferocious monsters in the darkness. "Whatever it is, when it emerges, I'll give it a taste of its own medicine. But honestly, that sound is truly unsettling. It feels like countless eyes are watching us from the shadows. It sends a chill down my spine," Ouyang Zhenghao said. Although his tone was firm, his palms were already slick with sweat, soaking the handle of his weapon. He was filled with fear, but as the bravest of the team, he didn't want to appear cowardly in front of his teammates.
As the strange noises continued, something seemed to move slowly in the forest, a rustling sound as branches were plucked. The sound grew closer, as if a massive creature were pushing aside the dense foliage, advancing towards them. Suddenly, a massive black figure leaped from the trees, swooping down at breakneck speed. A closer look revealed a strange creature, the size of a leopard, but with a pair of enormous wings. Its eyes gleamed with a faint green light, like two will-o'-the-wisp flames burning in the darkness, brimming with bloodlust. A strong, rancid stench emanated from it, as if emanating from the depths of hell.
"What kind of monster is this!" Ouyang Zhenghao shouted, rushing towards the monster first, his weapon flashing with a cold light as he slashed at it. In this critical moment, although he was terrified, his determination to protect his teammates made him face the danger without hesitation.
The monster dodged nimbly, flapping its wings and sending a powerful gust of air hurtling toward Ouyang Zhenghao, sending him reeling back several steps. Steadying himself, Ouyang Zhenghao mused in astonishment, "This monster's speed and strength are beyond imagination. It looks like it's going to be tough to deal with." His heartbeat raced, both because of the close encounter with the monster and because he realized the danger before him was far more serious than he'd imagined.
Seeing this, Lin Yu quickly pulled a special pistol from his waist and fired at the monster. The bullet struck the monster's body, but it felt like hitting solid armor, sending only a series of sparks flying, causing no real damage. "This monster's defense is too strong! Ordinary weapons can't hurt it at all!" Lin Yu exclaimed, secretly shocked. He had originally thought that the special pistol would inflict some damage on the monster, but he hadn't expected the monster to be so formidable. This made him realize the extreme severity of the challenge they faced and that they had to come up with another solution quickly.
Chen Yao quickly pondered a response. She recalled reading about strange creatures in ancient texts, some of which reacted to specific sounds or lights. "Perhaps we can use light to deal with it!" Chen Yao pondered, quickly pulling out a small light-emitting device from her bag. It was specially prepared for dealing with supernatural events, and it had a variable frequency adjustment function. She quickly adjusted the frequency, and a strange beam of light shot towards the monster.
The monster, as if stimulated by something, roared in pain and slowed down. Its body trembled slightly under the light, and a hint of fear flashed in its dark green eyes.
"It works, keep shining this light on it!" Lin Yu shouted, and at the same time, he took advantage of the monster's slowdown to launch another attack. He aimed at the monster's movement trajectory and rushed towards its legs, trying to attack its relatively weak part.
Ouyang Zhenghao also regained his spirits and attacked the monster together with Lin Yu. A glimmer of hope ignited in his heart, but he also became more cautious, knowing that this was a critical moment for them to defeat the monster.
Under the influence of the light, the monster's movements were greatly restricted. Lin Yu seized the opportunity and stabbed his weapon into the monster's wing joint. Green blood gushed out, emitting a sickening stench. The monster roared angrily and struggled desperately, trying to break free. However, Chen Yao continued to irradiate it with strange light, preventing it from counterattacking with all its strength.
After a fierce fight, they finally succeeded in subduing the monster. The monster collapsed to the ground, unable to resist, its body twitching on the ground, and the green light gradually dimmed.
