When the "Meat Lotus" drew within striking distance, Ouyang Zhenghao roared, emboldening himself. He charged at it, brandishing his weapon and slashing at its petals. The weapon's impact on the petals sent a splash of liquid, making a "puffing" sound, as if it were slicing through a piece of rotten flesh. However, it didn't seem to cause any substantial damage to the "Meat Lotus." It merely trembled slightly and continued to slowly advance towards them.
The "Meat Lotus" roared in anger after being attacked, its petals suddenly opening. A powerful force surged from its center, like a black hurricane, sweeping towards Ouyang Zhenghao. Unable to dodge, Ouyang Zhenghao was thrown to the ground by the force. His body rolled several times on the ground before crashing heavily into a tree. He felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if his ribs were about to break, and a salty taste welled up in his mouth.
"Ouyang!" Lin Yu shouted, his heart pounding. Taking advantage of the moment the "Meat Lotus" petals opened, he rushed towards the humanoid silhouette at its center. However, just as he was about to approach, the "Meat Lotus" suddenly closed its petals, blocking him out. The petals were like a solid wall, and Lin Yu's weapon chopped them, leaving only a shallow mark.
Chen Yao stood there, utterly distraught. She knew she had to do something to reverse the situation. She quickly recalled ancient texts she had read about evil creatures that reacted to certain spells or objects. She quickly pulled out some special powder from her bag, crafted according to an ancient recipe, said to have a nemesis against certain supernatural creatures. She sprinkled it toward the "Meat Lotus," muttering an ancient and mysterious incantation, hoping to disrupt the "Meat Lotus" through the combined effects of the spell and the powder.
The "Meat Lotus" seemed to react to the powder. Its movements slowed, and its petals trembled slightly. The petals, which had previously opened and closed rapidly, now opened and closed at a significantly slower speed, and the sound they made became low and hoarse, as if restrained by some force.
Lin Yu seized the opportunity to attack again. This time, he concentrated all his strength and stabbed at the gap between the petals. The weapon finally broke through the petals' defenses and pierced into the "Meat Lotus". The "Meat Lotus" let out a sharp scream, and black liquid gushed out from the wound, splashing onto Lin Yu, emitting a disgusting stench. Ouyang Zhenghao shouted, exhausting all his strength with each blow, his back drenched in sweat. But his eyes were filled with determination. He knew they had to work together to have a chance of defeating this terrifying monster; otherwise, they would all perish.
Chen Yao continued chanting the spell while observing the "Meat Lotus"'s reaction. She noticed that with Lin Yu's attacks and the effects of her own spell, the light on the "Meat Lotus" began to flicker, as if its power was gradually weakening. But at the same time, she also noticed that the mist around the "Meat Lotus" became thicker, as if trying to cover its weakness or gather more powerful strength for a counterattack.
"Lin Yu, Ouyang, this 'Meat Lotus' is trying to break free. We need to speed up our attack and not let it recover!" Chen Yao shouted, increasing the volume of her incantations and continuously sprinkling a special powder. The powder shimmered with a strange light in the mist and slowly drifted toward the 'Meat Lotus', as if carrying some mysterious power, attempting to restrain its movements.
Under the combined attack of the three, the "Meat Lotus"'s movements became increasingly sluggish, its petals no longer opening and closing with the same force they had before. However, just as they thought they were about to achieve victory, the "Meat Lotus" suddenly ceased its struggles, and the surrounding mist instantly condensed into a barrier, tightly protecting it. The mist barrier was a dark gray, and strange runes flickered on its surface. The runes constantly shifted and changed, as if possessing a life of their own.
"What's going on?" Ouyang Zhenghao looked at the mist barrier in surprise, his heart filled with confusion. His eyes revealed a hint of anxiety, wondering what this sudden mist barrier meant, and how they could break through it and continue attacking the "Meat Lotus".
Lin Yu frowned and said, "It looks like it's gathering strength for a final counterattack. We can't give it this opportunity. Let's all work together to break through this barrier." Lin Yu knew that if they let their guard down at this moment, all their previous efforts would be in vain. They had to seize this last chance to completely destroy the "Meat Lotus." His heart was filled with a sense of urgency, and he quickly considered various possible methods, trying to find the key to breaking through the fog barrier.
Chen Yao quickly searched her mind for possible solutions. Suddenly, she remembered the strange symbols she had seen on the tree trunk. Perhaps they were somehow connected to the "Meat Lotus," and perhaps they could be used to break through the mist barrier. This is just my guess, but there's no better way right now," Chen Yao said, drawing the order of the symbols on the ground for everyone to see clearly. Her eyes held a hint of anticipation, hoping this method would work, but she wasn't completely confident. After all, all of this was based solely on her research and speculation into the occult.
