The Ghostly Tower in Northern Jilin (Part 1)
Lin Yu, Ouyang Zhenghao and Shen Yao had just escaped from the nightmare experience in Building 108 in Chongqing. Exhausted both physically and mentally, before they could calm down, they were urgently dispatched by Bureau 749 to northern Jilin to explore a building shrouded in the shadow of fear - the Ghost Building.
The atmosphere in the car, speeding towards North Jilin, was oppressive and suffocating. Lin Yu clutched the information about the Ghost Tower tightly in his hand, his eyes fixed on the few words, as if he could see through them. It read: "Beijing Ghost Tower. Legend has it that beneath the building lie the remains of many innocent civilians who have suffered wrongful death, as well as the Japanese invaders, wielding a monstrous vengeance and murderous intent. In the depths of night, when all is still, chilling cries and eerie screams can be heard from within the building. The lower the floor, the more terrifying the sound, as if emanating from the curse of Hell." Lin Yu knew this mission was anything but ordinary. Every word was like a cold knife, piercing his heart, giving him a premonition of an unprecedented and terrifying challenge awaiting them.
Ouyang Zhenghao sat nearby, feigning composure, but his slightly trembling legs betrayed his inner nervousness. "The mere sound of this Haunted Tower is terrifying. Just thinking about those vengeful spirits and evil spirits sends chills down my spine," he said with feigned casualness, attempting to break the oppressive silence. But his slightly trembling voice betrayed him. He couldn't help but recall the terrifying scenes in Chongqing Building 108. Every scene replayed in his mind like a nightmare, filling him with fear and apprehension about the upcoming Haunted Tower. He wondered what kind of horrors and dangers he would encounter this time.
Chen Yao leaned back quietly in her seat, her brow furrowed, lost in thought. She pushed her glasses up and said slowly, "Based on these legends, this is likely a mixture of historical resentment and supernatural phenomena. Perhaps the horrific tragedy of that year spawned a unique energy field around this building, leading to the frequent occurrence of these strange phenomena." Drawing on her profound knowledge of the occult, Chen Yao attempted to analyze the incident theoretically. However, she knew that reality was often more complex and terrifying than theory. What truly awaited them might be an unknown horror far beyond her imagination.
Finally, they arrived in northern Jilin. In a desolate, overgrown area, the Ghost Building stood silently, like a dormant beast. It seemed at odds with the surrounding world, emanating a chilling aura. The structure was so dilapidated it seemed as if a single gust of wind would bring it crashing down. The walls, etched with the marks of time, were mottled and distorted, like grimacing faces, silently telling of the tragedy of the past. The window panes were shattered, the broken frames creaking in the breeze, like the building's painful whimpers, or the whispered cries of wronged souls.
"This building looks even more eerie than the one in Chongqing. It feels like countless pairs of eyes are staring at us from the shadows," Ouyang Zhenghao said in a low voice. His hands unconsciously tightened around the weapon at his waist, his knuckles turning white from the strain. His heartbeat raced, threatening to burst through his chest. A strong sense of unease surged through him, making him uneasy, as if he were being stared at by countless evil eyes.
Lin Yu didn't respond. His eyes were fixed on the Ghost Building, trying to find a clue from its exterior layout. He knew that the more terrifying the situation, the more important it was to remain calm, because any subtle discovery could be the key to solving the mystery. Chen Yao quickly took out the detection equipment and began to carefully examine the surrounding environment. "The magnetic field here is extremely chaotic beyond imagination, with extremely violent fluctuations, and the temperature is extremely low, several degrees lower than normal. All signs indicate that a powerful supernatural force does exist in this building." Chen Yao frowned further as she watched the wildly jumping data on the instrument. This was the most complex and unusual data she had encountered since she began studying the occult. A deep worry spread within her. She didn't know what unknown dangers awaited them.
The three of them walked slowly towards the building door, each step seeming to be based on their own heartbeats. The door was half-open, and a stale and decayed smell blew in. There was also a faint smell of blood in that smell, as if the pain of history was permeating the air. Lin Yu gently pushed the door open, and the door hinges made a harsh "creaking" sound, which seemed particularly abrupt in this almost dead silence. It seemed to have broken some taboo and awakened the evil dormant in the building. The corridor was dimly lit, with only a few weak rays of sunlight struggling to squeeze in through the broken windows, but they only cast mottled light and shadows on the ground, making the entire corridor look even more gloomy and terrifying. The walls were covered with thick dust and intricate spider webs. In the dim light, those spider webs seemed like traps woven by the devil, ready to devour them at any time.
"This corridor feels like it's been forgotten by time. It's so dead silent it's terrifying. I wonder where those horrible noises are coming from," Ouyang Zhenghao muttered softly, his eyes scanning the darkness warily. Every shadow seemed to conceal an unknown danger, keeping his nerves on edge. Horrifying images constantly surfaced in his mind. It was as if those wronged spirits and evil spirits were watching them from the dark corners, ready to pounce and drag them into the endless abyss of darkness.
Lin Yu signaled for silence, his ears pricked up, straining to detect even the slightest movement. Though it was daytime, the corridor was eerily silent. Only their heavy breathing and pounding heartbeats could be heard, as if the world consisted solely of the three of them and their endless fear. "Let's begin with a thorough investigation of the first floor. Everyone must be extremely cautious. Any seemingly insignificant detail could hold the key to solving this mystery," Lin Yu whispered, his eyes revealing both determination and vigilance. As the core of the team, he must remain calm in this atmosphere of extreme fear, leading everyone to gradually uncover the mysteries of the Haunted Building, even as his own heart was filled with fear and worry.
