They walked cautiously into a room on the first floor. The room was filled with a pungent musty smell, as if countless rotting souls were emitting a stench. In the corner stood some shabby furniture, covered with thick dust, as if time had stopped here. Suddenly, Ouyang Zhenghao felt something soft under his feet. He subconsciously looked down and saw a tattered rag doll lying there quietly. The rag doll's eyes were empty and lifeless, like two deep black holes, as if they could suck a person's soul in. Its body was covered with stains and holes, and the original bright colors had long faded, leaving only a dull gray, which looked particularly weird.
"This...how did this doll get here? It looks so creepy!" Ouyang Zhenghao said, his voice trembling slightly. The sudden appearance of the doll sent a chill down his spine, and a strong sense of discomfort washed over him. He felt as if the doll was possessed by some evil power, staring at him with its empty eyes.
Chen Yao crouched down, examining the rag doll carefully. She gently lifted it and turned it over, trying to find any clues. "This doll looks very old. Perhaps it's closely connected to what happened here. Perhaps it's a relic of a victim, carrying the memory of that tragic history," she said, her eyes revealing a hint of concentration and curiosity. Although she felt a deep fear for the doll, as an expert in the occult, she hoped it would hold the key to unlocking the secrets of the Haunted House.
At this moment, a faint cry suddenly came from the building. The cry was faint, as if it came from the depths of the building, and it seemed to be whispering in their ears. The cry was full of pain and sorrow, and it made people shudder.
"Did you hear that? That crying..." Ouyang Zhenghao gripped his weapon nervously, his eyes filled with fear. His heartbeat raced, threatening to burst from his throat. The crying was like a sharp needle, piercing his heart and filling him with an unprecedented fear. His legs began to weaken slightly, and a strong desire to escape surged within him. However, reason told him they couldn't retreat; they had to uncover the truth behind the crying.
Lin Yu nodded and said, "I heard it. It seems to be coming from the basement. It seems we need to go down and take a look, but we must be extremely careful. No one knows what kind of dangers are hidden down there." Lin Yu knew that going deep into the basement was like stepping into an unknown and terrifying abyss, but to uncover the secrets of the Ghost Building, they had no choice. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, and secretly cheered his teammates on, hoping that everyone could work together to face the upcoming challenges.
The three of them slowly descended the stairs, their creaking sound echoing through the building's tragic history. With each step, the sound echoed in the silent hallway, like the sighs of wronged souls. As they approached the basement, the cries grew clearer, a sound filled with pain and despair that shook the very soul.
When they reached the basement entrance, a bone-chilling chill washed over them. The basement was pitch black, pitch dark, like an all-consuming black hole. Lin Yu flicked on his flashlight, its faint beam flickering in the darkness, illuminating only a small area ahead. The surrounding darkness seemed to be constantly squeezing the weak light, ready to devour it at any moment. A few shabby boxes and miscellaneous items lay scattered in the basement, casting eerie shadows in the light, as if countless ghosts were hidden within.
"This basement feels eerie and creepy. I wonder if the crying is coming from inside," Ouyang Zhenghao said. His voice echoed in the basement, but was quickly swallowed by the darkness, as if it had never existed. At this moment, his heart was filled with fear. Every shadow seemed to hide an unknown horror. He stared intently into the depths of the darkness, trying to see what was hidden there, but he could see nothing but endless darkness.
Lin Yu and Shen Yao remained silent, their eyes wary and focused. Lin Yu cautiously made his way deeper into the basement, Shen Yao and Ouyang Zhenghao following closely behind him. The three of them felt like adventurers groping forward in the darkness, each step filled with fear and uncertainty. Suddenly, the flashlight illuminated a figure: a little girl in a ragged white dress, her hair long, covering her face. She had her back to them, sobbing softly.
"Who... who are you?" Ouyang Zhenghao asked tremblingly, his voice filled with fear. His legs gave out, and he could barely stand. The sudden appearance of this little girl filled his hair with terror. Countless terrifying thoughts flashed through his mind: Was this little girl human or a ghost? Why was she crying here? What kind of danger would she bring to them?
The little girl didn't answer, still crying. Lin Yu took a deep breath and said, "Don't be afraid, let's go over and see. Maybe she knows something about this building." Although Lin Yu was also afraid, he knew he couldn't retreat. He had to find out who the little girl was and why she was crying. He walked slowly towards the little girl, every step feeling like he was stepping on his own fear, his heart beating wildly in his chest.
The three men slowly walked towards the little girl, each step filled with fear and hesitation. As they approached the little girl, she suddenly stopped crying and slowly turned around. Her face was blank, devoid of any features, and it was chilling to the touch.
